New York Jets EDGE Will McDonald IV Film Breakdown

  • In this video, I go through the rookie tape for Jets EDGE Will McDonald IV, who had a highly-productive rookie year, in an incredibly small sample size. He played the second fewest snaps of any 1st round pick from 2023, only ahead of Anthony Richardson. The Jets have an embarrassment of riches on defense, so it's understandable that he struggled to get snaps, however, he was incredibly productive, when he was in the game.

      Absolutely we competed last year with poor quarterback play. We got better both sides of the ball now. Easily 11 to 12 wins lead by the defense. Our offense score at least 23 points a game we will win

      They don't have chemistry on offense or special teams. They also have a very old roster filled with one year free agent contracts. The majority of NFL playoff rosters are built differently. They have 15 plus drafted starters, 15 plus returning starters and 3 plus 2nd contract starters. They also have 4-5 drafted starters and returning starters on the o-line.

    The Jets have so many players on edge that they always keep their rookies to very limited reps. My guess at the time was that he was going to replace Huff, but they brought in Reddick. But then they dropped JFM, so.... Reddick and WMDIV seem like complimentary players, but your best 3 down edge is probably Jermaine Johnson, another player who was held to a low snap count in his rookie year, and then lit up in his second.

    I think ALLBRICK can have his own version of the “NASCAR” package that the Giants used to beat the Pats. But Q stayin in 😂 3 outta 4 pass rushing D ends with Q pushing that pocket..A lot of things you can do with all them toys to play with 🤷🏽‍♂️

    The issue was he only has a speed rush. Coaches want him to work on strength so that he can use bull rush to his arsenal.

    Has unbelievable agility for being 6'3. If the Jets get him 500 snaps double digit sack numbers guaranteed.Will benefit from Quinnen Williams,Hassan Reddick, Jermaine Johnson, Solomon Thomas,and Javon Kinlaw. New York pass rush will be ferocious.

    Him and JJ are lethal combo . Looking back , the jets could’ve trade a few spots down so it won’t seem a reach BUT good pick now that we lost Huff and Jfm. Clemons probably will change positions we’ll see

    • @jessejordache1869
      @jessejordache1869 Місяць тому +1

      When they had Clemons add about 20 pounds of muscle, his loss of speed made him a much less efficient player. I could see him as a light interior lineman: I don't see him coming to camp this year looking like Black Hercules again.
      Too bad though -- he can definitely pull off "Black Hercules". He should be cast in a Marvel movie like, yesterday.

      They drafted him with the idea of him being a 3rd down specialist and 4th qtr. finisher with the expectation they'd have a Iead m0st the time with R0dgers Ieading the way -- instead they were behind aII the time and needed 3-d0wn edge guys in there

      @BushnoSkillzz Місяць тому +7

      Not really, Jets just prefer working in rookies slowly in their stacked D line, they did the exact same thing with Jermaine Johnson who was productive in limited rookie snaps and had a breakout 2nd year, and now they let their dedicated passing down edge rusher Bryce Huff go in free agency showing how much they like Will McDonald
