The pavement below the smoke trails in the Monument Valley shot is the parking lot for The View hotel. I’ve stayed there and HIGHLY recommend it if anyone is ever in that area. It is owned and operated by the Navajo and is on the reservation, and as you can see it’s called “The View” because all of the rooms have a jaw dropping view of the most famous of the Monument Valley rock formations. I believe it opened in 2009 and it’s very modern. It sits on a cliff overlooking the valley between it and the two “Mittens” and Merrick Butte.
With a deluge of MSFS trailer videos hitting the internet, this is the only one I will watch! Fantastic attention to detail as always! Great job

About aircraft shown many already were confirmed to be developed by other companies. I created my own list which also includes my guesses on this trailer:

Official confirmation was part of the last tree developer streams.
On top of these the sim will include all aircraft of MSFS 2020s default lineup, so we are at 62 aircraft + variants already (including 40th anniversary edition aircraft).

The opening shots are of the MXS-R, I own an MXS and these are just the race variants for the championship series. Wonderful to fly.

The aircraft in the middle middle on the opening is either a modified Zivko Edge 540 or a MX Aircraft MXS-R.

I remember playing my first MSFSim 5.1 on a radio shack Tandy 1000 that took 4 floppy drives to install. Around 92' or so. They've come a long way. I've bought everyone since then and they just get better and better. Hopefully it will a few preloaded military jets.

As a person who flys ms2020/vatsim almost daily. I am excited for the next rendition of FS. And I am excited that MS/developers have stated that all addons purchased in the store or 3rd party will be compatible day 1 for 2024!

Appreciate your breakdown Jeff, seen others out there that speculate a little too wildly or jump to conclusions. Still early yet but I hope we get more info from Asobo soon. I’m most curious how they are going to manage all this, even having a top-line system it seems like a lot lol

I thought I lost the flight Simulator for 10 years ago... and my step dad... he literally was not much more.... but it was good training and I would love to go on a short flight.... jist to see what's diff? It's really always the reL stuff for years.... and a decade ago. I wanna watch.

Good breakdown. One part everyone seems to miss is the audio when the pilot is walking out to the A330. The ATC chatter sounds much more fluid and realistic. Might be AI driven.
Min: 41:15 is a helipad based at "Thridrangaviti" , Iceland. Very cool.
Over all graphics look cool - but somewhat I have a bad feeling that we are looking mostly at cutscenes here:
- what if it's all animated at missions start and end on ambulance flights? (Entering the flight - boom, cutscene of a call incoming, pilots rushing to the aircraft, starting engines, taxiing onto the runway and finally teleporting the player into the pilot seat of a perfectly configured aircraft which he can fly to the other airport/strip and boom, cutscene again of the aircraft decelerating on the runway, turning onto the taxiway, rolling into position and showing how the ambulance arrives - basically watching TV for 5 minutes until the mission just ends)
- what if banner towing is also just an animated cutscene? (You approach at a correct height and course as suddenly the camera switches position showing what we saw in the trailer, after climbing controls are back on the player side)
- what if it's the same same with fire fighting? You approach the fire and boom - cutscene ending with "Mission accomplished" and a leaderboard?
- what if that stuff is even pre rendered in 4k to keep performance in check for Xbox series? I guess that would be the worst case scenario of all scenarios.
I mention this as a reminder to everyone to keep expectations in check as to me It just seems to be too good to be entirely true.
That would be so "Crimson Skies" in these aspects (back to the 2000s in mission design) - still it would look cool but it also really kills much of the immersion. I just hope that's not the case and we will be in full control the whole time.
What keeps my hopes up however is that they didn't also show or handle something like that in MSFS 2020, not even on the Dune DLC to such an extend.
I'm fine with some amount of cutscenes, I just hope that we are in control of the aircraft from cold and dark until shutdown.
This trailer and environment feature's looks similar to 2020 trailer. The final release may not even be close to what we are seeing in this 2024 trailer

Wonder what the computer requirements are gonna be. I just replaced all my innerds in my gaming comp with all DDR5 stuff. It had already ran FS2020 on full settings with 4k resolution. Hopefully it will keep up with this
id like to see them put in the pushbacks we use at work. i work for amazon air and we dont use those big blocky pushbacks, we use what we call the batmobile or as its called the TLD TPX-200 towbarless aircraft pushback tractor. they are so much fun you are literally underneath the nose of the airplane when you connect. especially on our airbus a330 cargo planes.

id love to see a baby between MFS and airport simulator. have a ground crew preping luggage and supplying the planes with food/fuel, ect.
With the added ground detail, they might as well add some cars and boats we can drive.

I want to know how much of these scenes are specific cut scenes for jobs or if its actual gameplay. The agriculture helicopter spraying might be an intro for that specific job type. etc. I know I'll be taming my expectation until it either comes out or they have actual gameplay for it.

One of the biggest questions I have is: let's say a friend of mine has MSFS 2020 and I have MSFS 2024. If we both spawn at the same airport, would I be able to see my friend at that airport even though they're running MSFS 2020? Would they be able to see me at the same airport even though I'm on MSFS 2024? If these is a yes when this question get answered by MSFS team this opens up a lot of more doors especially for shared cockpit flights on Xbox/PC.

Another slick Microsoft video shot on a NASA super computer.we will have to wait and see what it really looks like.I’ll get it but we will see how it turns out.msfs 2020 takes a half hour just to boot up while Aerofly 4 takes seconds to start and they give you a lot for free while msfs is a cash cow
Did they do anything to accommodate the lack of vertical development of thundering clouds that we have to vector around in real life at cruise altitudes?
As I’m only really interested in the physics of the aircraft performances, particularly when it comes to the Boeings and the Airbuses, my question is have Microsoft improved the realism to be more accurate in this 2024 release? Both XPlane 11 and 12 are known to be much closer to the real thing as far as flight characteristics go. Also, I still prefer the default weather clouds in XP11 as in certain circumstances (but not all) they are more realistic to the real world. MSFS clouds in both the 2020 and this new 2024 release still look rather ‘cartoonish’ in my view and spoil the immersion effect for the simulator pilot.
The jump in visual fidelity is astounding in 2024.

Okay, this looks amazing. However, I really want to see how this game reacts. I want to see what the performance and optimisation is like. Me with 12Gb of VRAM in my 4070, is that enough? I really hope they manage to bypass the occasional stutters you get maybe on final or when your game begins to lag. Overall, looks so great and I’m loving this analysis video!

WOW looks amazing, but to be honest as Microsoft have some real heavy hardware GPU/CPU then it should look amazing, maybe the trailer was run in 8k with everything set to ultimate quality, then dropped down to 1440p to give that nice soft edge feel, but what about us normal people that just want to have a play around on our normal PC, what will it look like for us? 1080p - setting on low - FPS=20 maybe if we are lucky, I run my MSFS 2020 at 1440p, settings on high and get around 40 to 50 fps, I really don't think I will be getting the same with MSFS 2024 ;( will have to wait and see.
