Diagnosed three weeks ago, finished first round of chemo yesterday. I am 40. Funny enough, I was born in Michigan but I live in Sweden. We have public health but a very dedicated and professional team. The plan is 4 chemo over 8 weeks, recover then surgery then another round of chemo. My life has just flipped upside down. There is no spread that is seen so far. I'll check back here around my surgery.

Great story….were you on ppi’s or reflux medicine during the 10 years? So, you went from Barrett’s to cancer in one year? I’m told ppi’s prevent progression to Barrett’s & cancer…

They say less than 1% of people diagnosed with Barrett’s will ever develop cancer, still it would seem that every single case I ever hear of anyone getting that diagnose ends up getting cancer at some point… could someone here tell me they were diagnosed with Barrett’s plenty of years ago without ever developing cancer?

I just got diagnosed with a small tumor...I have always had acid reflux, even as a young person, so now I have been told that this was likely the cause of the tumor. I have had radiation and chemo and the tumor has shrunk successfully but i will be undergoing this major procedure to hopefully eradicate it totally. I hope its worth the side effects, but I am doing it to rid my body of the hell that is cancer. Hope this makes sense...I am still trying to figure it all out as well.
