  • I went to the Amazon rainforest to discover things I had never seen before. These frogs alone made the whole trip worthwhile. I had no idea that frogs like this even existed!

      Hi Clint, love your channel more than anything, but at 8:20 I'm afraid you've misidentified Dobby the house elf. I'm almost certain he's a horned tree frog (Hemiphractus), not a casque-headed tree frog (Lophyohylini)!
      Edit: actually every fact you listed about him is true afaik, you're just calling him the wrong thing

      @arnor398 Рік тому +9

      thats not what happend. the frog was terrified. lot of animals have this "freezing" stress reaction after being flipped on their back. they may look calm but in fact they experience very intensive emotions, and thats why it should be avoided, especially with animals that are particulary sensitive to stress like birds and rabbits. sadly some people still recomend turning all animals that have this response for easier handling (like cutting pet's claws), often because they dont fully understand what happens when you do it.

They also appreciate having a water bowl to they can really get in and soak, which is a treat to observe. I will say, while they may be considered to have a quieter call.. mine has certain periods through the year that he is VERY vocal at night, and he can be heard through the entire house. Hey, to be fair, you all need biologists like me haha! I spent my time looking at bacteria and trying to genetically modify them, studying how DNA works and why some bacteria CAN'T be modified (for example, you can't easily genetically modify chlamydia species), how antibiotic resistance works, that kind of thing. We don't go out into bushes and look for frogs, but we're still pretty important!

      Thanks for speaking up, Abigail 😊

    The crested forest toad looks like he’s wearing armour made out of fallen leaves.

    Thank you for the nice presentation on the frogs and toads! I can tell you love them by the way you handle them.❤️ I've been fascinated with frogs and toads since finding strange, clear, jelly like "eyes" in a cluster in a local creek as a very young child. I scooped them up in a mason jar and sat it in my bedroom window. Several weeks later, I had some strange creatures in that mason jar. Not long after that, they started growing legs. I've been in love with them ever since❤️❤️ Never figured out the species but went on to raise Bullfrogs, Red belly toads, Green tree frogs , and Leppard frogs at home as a hobby. I released my native offspring back into the wild but the Asian Red belly Toads never bred. I think I purchased two males☹️☹️ Anyway, I no longer keep them as providing the proper environment and food is now expensive and hard to aquire. Getting up there in my age and can't afford it. I really miss seeing and watching my frogs grow, live their lives and reproduce. Bless you for sharing this. You made an old woman very happy to see someone of a younger generation embrace the beauty and fascination of one of the most diverse creatures to grace this earth. Thank you for your love of Earth's beautiful creatures!❤️❤️❤️❤️
