The thing about taxes in Sweden. We have a few different taxes. Two of them are extreme. The tax on work/salary is quite high yes. The tax on capital and assets are very low, extremely low. So the welfare state that many UA-camrs talk about in connection with Sweden is really in decline. Now we have privately owned schools and pharmacies. The staffing and recruitment companies multiply as the state is reducing the swedish unemployment agency. Many young people have nowadays a harder time getting into the housing market and getting a steady job. Employers hire for a few months, per season, and so on. The neo liberalism is growing and that ideology makes for a very depressed, corrupt, and dangerous world.

I lived most of my life in the US (50 years) after my parents moved there from the UK when I was a little boy. After learning more about the values of Sweden (lagom and the law of Jante, which are basically the polar opposite of the US values) I decied to pull up some pretty deep roots and make the move. It hasn't been easy, I'm still struggling to learn the languate, but I do not regret it. There are so many contradictions in the US that it's mind blowing!

The big difference between the USA and Sweden is freedom and democracy. Americans have been told since they were little and they still do today that America is the best country in the world and the only country with democracy and freedom.
But if you add the ranking the countries have in freedom and democracy and it came in 2023, Sweden is ranked number 4 when it comes to freedom and democracy. The USA ends up in 29th place regarding freedom and democracy but with a caveat.
Now they say that when Trump becomes president again, the USA will drop in the ranking, to go from 29th place and end up much lower. Which in plain language says that the American people will have less freedom and reduced democracy, the USA is on the way to dictatorship, because of how Trump is doing now.

But then i have not experienced the US health system, i might be wrong.

I’m from the US and must agree with you 100%!! I’m not a trump fan nor of his politics. He seems to be on a path of destruction of the values of most people. If I were younger I would definitely consider moving to Sweden. I am not “poor” but will always be on a tight budget. I can just dream of Sweden because I could never make enough money to move there 🫤. Kind of a double edged sword. I think it’s important to be able to discuss these things and hopefully learn new ways to live and with less stress. There are many things l’d like to see change. Unfortunately it’ll never happen here, at least not in my lifetime 😢

It is amazing the Swedish people would think that USA under Donald is preferable to Sweden. As a Swedish person with family in the states, I am convinced that the US needs a social democrat like Bernie Sanders. There he is called extreme left (communist) here, he would be a right wing social democrat. Here I would not vote for Bernie, because we have had that fight already, there I would because the inequality is staggering.

Well spoken! Agree! The idea that women can't even make their own choises about their bodies there. How can that even be a question? A total nightmare! A lot of crazy people/stuff nowadays. Still, we have to stand up and move forward. Work together!

    • @niklasmolen4753
      @niklasmolen4753 4 дні тому +2

Why you say things like "women can't even make their own choices about their bodies" is because you probably don't understand the arguments of the opponents. You prioritize women's rights. They prioritize the rights of the child.
You write "A total nightmare". They think child murder is "A total nightmare"
How you look at it depends on whose needs you prioritize. The needs of the two are in opposition to each other.

Don't think Kamala would have been better. Both parties in the US are more or less owned by the wealthy elite. Trump was not part of that elite, so the elite were/are afraid that he will not favor their interests.
There is a lot of talk in Sweden about certain groups being a threat to democracy. It's the same as in the US. An established power elite is afraid that they will lose their privileges when new actors come. Not because the new actors are better, but they are not controlled by the established power elite.
The whole world is losing democracy. Authoritarian forces are growing. They hide behind false facades and say that restrictions on freedoms are to protect democracy and minorities.

    E. Musk shares posts about freedom of Greenland and Danish colonialism, but he doesn't mind the biggest war since ww2 - genocidal war in Ukraine, AfD-Moscow lies and other fascists. Each to its own.... Sweden is not really safe, because Russia started a more active phase of the hybrid war against the whole region, including hitting Baltic fibre, electronic warfare(GPS signal etc...)
Have you seen Musk talking about that?

As an American, born and raised here in the US, having lived here all my life, I can say it's getting very scary to live in the US. We've never been this close to a complete fascist dictatorship, even by a long shot. My wife is a 3rd generation Mexican American, born in Texas, never lived in any other country and doesn't even speak Spanish. We've never had to worry about her being detained, interrogated, harassed or even possibly deported to some country she's never even been to before, but now we do. Even Native Americans are now being detained and harassed by immigration enforcement. And it's getting worse every day.

Personally as a Swede Im thinking hard about moving... and my first pick would be the US. Most of the changes in the US are good for equallety. But I think you have (and most Swedes sadly) have an uneducated views on what equity/equallety means. Of course I have mostly different views then the ones you stated in the video. But hey... if you think it should be okey for people to think different... The thing that hit me is that your resons are mostly based on "what you feel", im a more logical person so... 😂

Its always difficult to talk about politics.. and not be biased!
Its always a good thing to know a bit more about one self.. ones country and why it become that its is today!
Becuse its always pros and cons in every country!
"The Secret of The Scandinavian Economic Miracle"
    ua-cam.com/video/vyTq5Q6qqUw/v-deo.html
The pro is that sweden/scandinavia/nordics is run by middle class people, verry few billionairs in politics!
Even if we have more billionairs per capita then USA!
The con is probably that our system is set up for swedes, born by swedish parents.. its less drop outs then!
