I was a little disappointed with this part of the movie, it was about everyone moving on from atem and Yugi not being able to rely on him anymore. while it is cool seeing Yami again, I feel a little let down by having Yami save Yugi again, I feel like it would have been better if Yugi had a vision or flashback of Yami and then picked himself up and do a Yugi destiny draw
Isaac Rivera well seeing as how Yugi did literally everything right/won every duel he was in and was only set to lose once this ancient Egyptian power came back... I think Atem stepping in for one last draw was fine. It’s not as if he came back at the start of the movie and Yugi took a back seat. Plus, we all wanted to see Atem return. Even for a min like he did here. Which was perfect. People just love to hate on movies lol
You could even argue Atem wasn't there. He didn't say a word after all, and they superimpose Yugi over him. You could make the case that Yugi just channeled Atem to give himself the strength to topdeck Mahad with the heart of the cards. In which case it wasn't Atem alone, it was a joint effort of both Yugi and Atem. Something that the series has always stressed: the two accomplish things together that neither of them could have done on their own.
Charles FUSTER Atem and Yugi are both voiced by Dan Green. In any case, I’ve always viewed this scene as Atem only stepping in because he had to. Yugi had it handled right up until the end when Atem gave him the strength to stand up and draw the card to win. It calls back to when Yugi helps Atem to find the courage to draw the last card in the Duelist Kindgom Semi Final match against Mai. They did it together. Like they always did. Where neither one could do it alone, they always found the strength to do it together.
They had separate minds, remember how in the first series of the original Yu-gi-oh, when Yugi is dueling Pegasus in the final duel of the series, Yugi and Atem keep switching back and forth to confuse Pegasus. This was because Pegasus was using his Millennium eye to read Yugi's cards.

I watched the original YEARS AGO, in 2013 or 2014. Honestly, this just made me cry; the original fans finally got to see Atem for one last time :') Me as well.

What went unsaid by Atem: I summon Palladium Oracle Mahad. This card's special ability means that when I draw and reveal it I can special summon it to the field immediately and whenever it attacks a DARK monster it doubles it's attack points! Which means your finished! This duel is over!

I remember when the preview came out for this movie I screamed running up and down the house calling for my dad to witness what I saw lol. A grown ass woman who has 2 kids was reduced to her child self in mere seconds lol. I bought my dad his movie ticket and told him we had to go watch it just like the old days when we would watch it every Saturday morning lol. When this scene happened and Atem came back I grabbed my dads arm and shook it and tried so hard not to scream "yaaaaaasssss" lmao ah great memories lol

Although it isn't mentioned in the movie, I'll spell it out: "When an opponent's monster declares a direct attack: You can banish this card from your GY; draw 1 card and reveal it, then if it was a monster, you can Special Summon it, and if you do, change the attack target to it and perform damage calculation." Diva was obviously going for a lethal direct attack, so it made sense that Clear Kuriboh's effect allowed Atem to draw Mahad and immediately summon him to the field.
Mahado would never come to save Yugi, I mean Yugi is stealing his position of best friend away. In the end Atemu would move mountains for Yugi, Mahado would the the same for Atemu, so out of respect he would help in the end. Black Magician, nope! Bring in the real deal, real magician~ That died fighting against Akefia T~T.
The lack of dialogue makes this scene for me. As someone that loves hearing Dan Green go "Is that so?" and other great lines, the silence speaks volumes on the consequences of Atem's temporary return.
I honestly think this was the perfect way to end off the original series, I could think of no better way for the Pharoah's epic but brief return. No words spoken made it better.

I love how Atem did that thing where he drew a card and willed the random draw into the card he commanded it to be; and then summoned Mahad without even looking at the card. Not Dark Magician... *M A H A D.* His most trusted and valued royal guard.
The theory I believe describes more accurately this scene is, since Yugi was wearing the Millenium Puzzle, and was the one to complete the puzzle putting the last piece into it just moments before the duel against Diva started, it's probably that the Millenium Puzzle granted Yugi one wish, as it was the lore of the beginning of Yu-Gi-Oh! Whoever completed the Millenium Puzzle, was granted one wish, and when he remembered the Heart of the Cards and, in consequence, Atem, he might have wished to see Atem once again before collapsing and losing the duel, making the comeback of Atem from the afterlife actually possible to save his own life.
he didnt want Atem back, only as he was about to die he wished "fuck, i wish HE was here" And Atem appears. And he wasnt messing around. He returns with evil season 0 eyes, attacks without hesitation, wins then gives a smile and goes back to the afterworld with the puzzle. He just smiles and nods like "yeah....you didnt wish me back until it was vital. Im proud. YOLO"
The wish thing weirdly makes sense. When Yugi initially put it in, he really didn’t wish for anything and really opposed for wishing his friend back. Then when was falling he said he still believed in the heart of the cards. The thing is in the Japanese dub he actually said I’m sorry everyone which could mean he wished he didn’t let everyone down and in response Atem returned to fulfill the wish of not letting them down.
In the theater, the minute that beam came down and there was that *Chime* and the puzzle showed up. Everyone was dead silent, then when Atem opened his eyes everyone including me yelled out in a mighty cry "YUGIOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH!!!!!!!"
The way Atem summons Mahad without looking at the card with the suspense music in background absolutely epic. Also notice how Mahad was kneeling to his pharaoh on summon. What an unforgettable scene then the graphics when he attacks! Long live Yugioh
Atem went from being an ancient Pharaoh, to a spirit in an ancient puzzle, to a hero and finally to a God after passing into the afterlife. He's always watching out for the people he cares most about.
According to Ancient Egyptian beliefs when a Pharoah passes on he is a God. Just goes to show how petty Kaiba is he went to the afterlife to challenge a God
Ya know, they could have made this movie terrible but the way they made it where the pharaoh was silent was just pure. When he came back and worked together with Yugi to save the world yet again with absolute silence and then "talked" to Yugi without any words. Then at the very end where Kaiba comes to the Pharaoh's dimension to duel him(Still wanna know who won. It's just like in that last ep of GX where Jaden duels Yugi but there is no winner revealed)..no words just utter silence and it just made it perfection. Just those small details can make a movie majorly epic because Atem said everything that was needed when he lost the ceremonial duel and was set free. This movie is hands down the best Yu-Gi-Oh movie.
Atem beat Kaiba, obviously. Kaiba needs to kill himself to beat Atem, and he did that just to duel him in the first place. He's got no way of legitimately defeating the Pharaoh.
Atem prolly won, but ultimately it doesn't matter, because Yugi proved himself capable of defeating Kaiba without Atem, because we know what his facedown card was, and it couldn't help him.
Kaiba might've gotten funnier lines but Yugi by far had better character growth. He was closer to Atem and loved him but still accepted the fact that he had left even though it broke his heart

@@Blasckk maybe you mistake 'Deus ex Machina' with the fact Yugi unlike the Pharaoh is not strong enough to handle the shadow realm let alone the challenges that happened in this duel. Atem's spirit still lingered in the puzzle but saw that nothing needed to be done, Yugi was handling it. However once Yugi collapsed Atem knew he had to step in to stop this 'New Age of Darkness' from happening due to Diva. Yugi won not one but two duels in the movie consecutively, proving he's strong enough on his own. And not to mention if you look st the end of GX it shows that YUGI won the Battle City 2 Tournament on his own, he was handling Jaden fine as well but decided to just let the pharaoh tag in. Yugi is a great duelist and perhaps one of the best His win to loss ratio is something to take into account he's won about 4 duels and lost 1 and one is undecided, that's something to take into account So your comment is utterly mindless and has no real support to back it up. Yes it is the guy who eventually becomes Dark Magician. Atem's most trusted and loyal guard Mahad. That card is specifically called Palladiun Oracle Mahad. It has 2 additional effects first being if it battles a dark type monster it's attack doubles the second being if it's destroyed you can special summon a Dark Magician from your hand deck or graveyard. It literally has the same type and stats as Dark Magician just with some additional effects and is a light monster instead of dark
This gave me goosebumps like nothing else has. His entrance was phenomenal, epic, astonishing. I wish that Yugi and Atemu could have shook hands with a small exchange to one another before he left. Atemu - “Yugi, thank you for everything you’ve done for me. You’ll always remain with me as I will remain with you." Yugi - "Yes. I never got a chance to thank you for everything you have done for me. I wouldn’t be who I am today if not for you. Thank you, Atemu. Like we always say, It's your move." Atemu smiles, placing his hand on the puzzle. The puzzle vanishes as does Atemu. The reminding gold sparks of him flow through the sky, disappearing. I smile in joy and sadness that he really is gone for good but he will always remain with me. Thanks for uploading!!!

Diva was obviously going for a lethal direct attack, so it made sense that Clear Kuriboh's effect allowed Atem to draw Mahad and immediately summon him to the field.

The lack of dialogue makes this scene for me. As someone that loves hearing Dan Green go "Is that so?" and other great lines, the silence speaks volumes on the consequences of Atem's temporary return.
I honestly think this was the perfect way to end off the original series, I could think of no better way for the Pharoah's epic but brief return. No words spoken made it better.

The theory I believe describes more accurately this scene is, since Yugi was wearing the Millenium Puzzle, and was the one to complete the puzzle putting the last piece into it just moments before the duel against Diva started, it's probably that the Millenium Puzzle granted Yugi one wish, as it was the lore of the beginning of Yu-Gi-Oh! Whoever completed the Millenium Puzzle, was granted one wish, and when he remembered the Heart of the Cards and, in consequence, Atem, he might have wished to see Atem once again before collapsing and losing the duel, making the comeback of Atem from the afterlife actually possible to save his own life.
he didnt want Atem back, only as he was about to die he wished "fuck, i wish HE was here" And Atem appears. And he wasnt messing around. He returns with evil season 0 eyes, attacks without hesitation, wins then gives a smile and goes back to the afterworld with the puzzle. He just smiles and nods like "yeah....you didnt wish me back until it was vital. Im proud. YOLO"

The wish thing weirdly makes sense. When Yugi initially put it in, he really didn’t wish for anything and really opposed for wishing his friend back. Then when was falling he said he still believed in the heart of the cards. The thing is in the Japanese dub he actually said I’m sorry everyone which could mean he wished he didn’t let everyone down and in response Atem returned to fulfill the wish of not letting them down.

The way Atem summons Mahad without looking at the card with the suspense music in background absolutely epic. Also notice how Mahad was kneeling to his pharaoh on summon. What an unforgettable scene then the graphics when he attacks! Long live Yugioh
Atem went from being an ancient Pharaoh, to a spirit in an ancient puzzle, to a hero and finally to a God after passing into the afterlife. He's always watching out for the people he cares most about.
Oh and finally, I'll add, Atem achieved the greatest level of badass here.

Ya know, they could have made this movie terrible but the way they made it where the pharaoh was silent was just pure. When he came back and worked together with Yugi to save the world yet again with absolute silence and then "talked" to Yugi without any words. Then at the very end where Kaiba comes to the Pharaoh's dimension to duel him(Still wanna know who won. It's just like in that last ep of GX where Jaden duels Yugi but there is no winner revealed)..no words just utter silence and it just made it perfection. Just those small details can make a movie majorly epic because Atem said everything that was needed when he lost the ceremonial duel and was set free. This movie is hands down the best Yu-Gi-Oh movie.
Atem beat Kaiba, obviously. Kaiba needs to kill himself to beat Atem, and he did that just to duel him in the first place. He's got no way of legitimately defeating the Pharaoh.
Atem prolly won, but ultimately it doesn't matter, because Yugi proved himself capable of defeating Kaiba without Atem, because we know what his facedown card was, and it couldn't help him.

Atem's spirit still lingered in the puzzle but saw that nothing needed to be done, Yugi was handling it.
However once Yugi collapsed Atem knew he had to step in to stop this 'New Age of Darkness' from happening due to Diva.
Yugi won not one but two duels in the movie consecutively, proving he's strong enough on his own.
And not to mention if you look st the end of GX it shows that YUGI won the Battle City 2 Tournament on his own, he was handling Jaden fine as well but decided to just let the pharaoh tag in.
Yugi is a great duelist and perhaps one of the best
His win to loss ratio is something to take into account he's won about 4 duels and lost 1 and one is undecided, that's something to take into account

You know you’re going to lose when you hear the opening tone and his jacket goes from normal to Stylish AF cape
Yugi played one final trap card, Resurrection of the Pharoh. By tributing one Kaiba and his remaining life points, he was able to special summon Atem. Once he summoned Atem, the duel is automatically over, and Yugi wins. Think of it as a new version of Exodia, except instead of gathering the 5 cards necessary to summon him, all he had to do was sacrifice himself and his partner, and Atem would return from the graveyard.

I love how the monster (isn't it the guy that later becomes Dark Magician?) bows to its King when it's summoned.

Yes it is the guy who eventually becomes Dark Magician. Atem's most trusted and loyal guard Mahad. That card is specifically called Palladiun Oracle Mahad. It's effect is if you reveal as soon as you draw it you can special summon it. It has 2 additional effects first being if it battles a dark type monster it's attack doubles the second being if it's destroyed you can special summon a Dark Magician from your hand deck or graveyard. It literally has the same type and stats as Dark Magician just with some additional effects and is a light monster instead of dark

The small detail of Joey trying to get up to protect his friend is amazing
So happy to see someone else comment on this! Joey being the last in the audience to collapse perfectly fits his determinator history.
This gave me goosebumps like nothing else has. His entrance was phenomenal, epic, astonishing. I wish that Yugi and Atemu could have shook hands with a small exchange to one another before he left.
Atemu - “Yugi, thank you for everything you’ve done for me. You’ll always remain with me as I will remain with you."
Yugi - "Yes. I never got a chance to thank you for everything you have done for me. I wouldn’t be who I am today if not for you. Thank you, Atemu. Like we always say, It's your move."
Atemu smiles, placing his hand on the puzzle. The puzzle vanishes as does Atemu. The reminding gold sparks of him flow through the sky, disappearing. I smile in joy and sadness that he really is gone for good but he will always remain with me.
