- We are BUZZING to be back in Bangkok! The weather blessed us and we got the most glorious sunshine whilst exploring some places that didn’t even exist last time we were in Thailand! First off is one of the highest coffeeshops we’ve EVER been to! Talk about jelly legs! Then there was no way we weren’t going to visit the brand new, fancy shopping mall in Bangkok, EmSphere… and did you know they have a sky bar?! It just gets better and better! Bangkok is SO cool!

The nice thing about Bangkok is they really know how to design experiences. Like a coffee shop isn't just a coffee shop in Bangkok. They really go a step beyond and think of creative ways to make it a unique experience, as shown here. But this is just one example, there are so many different designs for cafes, hotels. clubs, restaurants, malls etc. That's what they're really good at. Basically their whole city is one massive instagram photo shoot literally everywhere. It's like France to me where everywhere you look is a photo because it is overwhelmingly ornate, cute or funky so it's almost pointless to take photos. Also, there's a separate outdoor entrance for Arabica where the taxis drop you off at Empire. That is the more obvious main entrance to access. I had trouble finding it too until I went outside.

I’m heading back to Bangkok after 2 years not visiting. I might stick to Terminal 21 for cheap shopping mall Pad Kaprao but could be tempted by that pool side bar with cocktails at Australian prices 😅

a growing trend in SE Asia with this type of hip "food court". it's more like an Instagram stop. Prices are set high, I agree with you. next time, don't hesitate, just skip & go somewhere else.

We want to love Bangkok as much as we love KL! Excited to visit. Do you know of a good place to stay with shops + restaurants near a mall? We have 3 kids so sometimes it’s nice to escape the traffic + heat in the mall, but we still want plenty of eating/exploring on the street too. Thks ahead for any tips 🙏
Stay near Siam BTS and visit Central World/Siam Paragon shopping malls and insane food courts in each of them (top floor central world, bottom floor siam paragon). You can then venture out anywhere on the BTS

Don't worry, soon you won't see prices in the tens or hundreds again in Thailand. And restaurants in department stores are more expensive than general stores where Thai people eat. But we don't eat often. Don't forget that this is Thailand. If there were no Thai people, it would be very strange.👌

The food in these high end malls are so overpriced. It's usually because the rent is very high. Walk down a bit, esp. on Sukhumvit, and you'd probably find a really nice restaurant or a street food stall at a fraction of the price.

Coincidently I just happened to watch the river cruise buffet video on dancingbacons channel. And the food looks fairly cheap and average. Looked like a Chinese takeaway buffet tbh. You didn’t miss much with it being cancelled. (If I even have the right boat cruise)
We booked a different one that was like a fine dining one… but thank you for making us feel a bit better hehe

Too expensive. Nice to look around but take a short walk to Terminal 21 and go to the Food Court on the top floor. Super cheap! You’re doing the touristy thing.
We are tourists 😍 but yes, we’ve been to terminal 21 many times - we wanted to visit the new mall that we’ve never been to before!

I doubt you can really call yourselves true tourists unless it helps your Visa application, the conditions of which may have substantially changed since you were last here. True Thais do not frequent the places you are promoting. Maybe it appeals to HiSo Thais but this has a limited prolonged appeal. Why not extend your horizons and see “true Thailand” away from the glitz and glamour?

Thailand offers the best entertainment at low prices. The tourists and corporations are the winner, but the locals are poor and the environment worsens. We need the balance.
