    Members of a youth movement known as the so-called “hippie” generation came out in the hundreds that summer to stage a “love-in” at the historic Presidio Park in San Diego. The “love-in” became a regular Sunday ritual at city parks.

    The latest in the weekend phenomena known as “love-ins” was held at the La Jolla Cove. Several weeks ago, a similar demonstration at the Cove resulted in a mammoth traffic jam and brought police on the run when some of the demonstrators desecrated the flag by stomping on it. No such incidents marred yesterday’s gathering.
    A number of unusual costumes were on exhibit…as usual. And there was some singing and strumming of guitars. Police reported everything orderly-although they had been primed to expect possible trouble, none developed. About 15-hundred persons were there.
