It took me a while to realise that I really love the fact that the female dancers keep theirs faces neutral and let the movements speak for themselves. They are all so strong.
As you dance you become the music and the music becomes you dancing is a very fantastic way of expressing ones self
Its because the women were representing something abstract. They were al supposed to be one organism wheras the front man is his own entitiy and therefore less neutral in his expressions
bom
That was some Handmaid's Tale bullcrap if you ask me...wtf was this
Shepherd's Chapel Network !!!!!!! Pastor Murray is an Anointed Servant of GOD who teaches the Word of GOD with Authority!!!!!!!
So.. I guess this is what they do at the secret Beauxbatons training camp. A bunch of lovely women dancing together with their coach before the tri-wizard tournament is freaking cool AF
this is the best comment i've ever seen
Laoal Jaiplum hhahaa im not even a major potter fan, but i couldnt pinpoint who those girls reminded me of, lol yes they are like them 😂😂 love it & this video
lol i thought of Beauxbatons too when i first saw the video
Laoal Jaiplum thats what I thought when I watched it the first time 😂
its not only girls, theres a couple boys in there
So beautiful. I'm 42 yrs old and a retired dancer but oh when I see moves like this, contemporary dance has come so far, I wish I could glide across the stage like these stunning dancers. I wasn't expecting contemporary but the flow of the movements told the story perfectly. So well done.
Are you kidding me right now ...that was AMAZING OMG!!!!! THAT CHOREO WAS INSANE!
It is so important to bring those beautiful choreography works out through qualitative cinematography! This is as much moving as watching spectacular nature landscapes on a big screen and more. All crew work put in this video is just brilliant!
I very much agree! Thanks so much for the kind words!
Elegant with an edge💃🏽🕺🏽
Brilliant work, Andrew Winghart!
Anneli Arro Music I agree! Its important that people recognize the construction behind this piece! Its marvelous. Hey if you have a sec please checkout my dance video and let me know what you think! THANKS 😀
this i called art.... a masterpiece
Love it. So powerful ❤️
maybe i'm seeing to much into this but their motions imitate a river, everything is continuous, synchronized, and basically flowing from the start till the end. there are parts when they do the domino effect sorta thing, but they also have that eye of the storm (circular) thing where the center is calm but surrounded by organized chaos, just like a cyclone. plus, the color of their clothes kind of allude to this idea as well.
The perfect description
Agree
Exactly!! Agree
Agree too.
Да, мужское начало структуирует женскую жнергию, которая в свою очередь толкает мужское начало вперед❤😊 трансформация инь-ян
Mesmerizing! And the idea of picking different shades of blue for the dresses was very on point. Added even more dinnamism to the movements.
Indeed a masterpiece at all levels: concept, choreography, performance, photography, costume, everything!
wtf
you are so right Ellie amazing work
I just used this video in a class on ancient Greek tragedy to explain the Chorus. Love it.
Crying a river was exactly what I did after watching this video!!
Damn it's so good, WOW!!
Jeremy Paul Me too!!
Strong real men who can dance are so attractive.
Wow! The girls were his river of tears...they flowed and ebbed and reflected his emotions! This was spectacular.
I can't stop watching it. 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Andrew Freaking Winghart, done did it again. 😭😭😭😭
I always love to come back to this video - it’s just stunning 💙
Stunning indeed 🥹
This is the most beautiful and heartbreaking dance that I’ve seen in my whole life ❤️😭
Svetlana Tulasi so beautiful and powerful
Then watch Pina by Wim Wenders :)
Everything about this video is so right.
The dance.
The music.
The setting.
The lighting.
The costume.
The cinematography.
Great job to everyone!
Whoaaa sickkkk
I love the sequence of every dance move, it truly gives the visual effect of an actual river. Beautifully done.
I feel like I’m in a secret showing of the Mockingjay’s District 12 underground dance recitals the night before the reaping.
Omg yesss I was thinking that to hahaha
Could be Divergent too.
Or the Handmaids!
This is what choreography in modern film musicals should be like.
I saw this on Facebook and it is BLOWING UP!!! That part at 1:51-1:57! MY GOD!!!😃🙌🏾❤️
Afronerd_92 Best part!
Afronerd_92 YES 😍😍😍😍😍😍
YESSS that part gave me goosebumps !!! its amazing !!!!! :DDD
Ya! he is a teacher at JUMP dance convention and he taught that to us! It was hard but so much fun.
Afronerd_92 I know! I feel like I saw this before it was on youtube 😮
Wow, I am very impressed by this dance! The choreography is absolutely breathtaking and the visual effects created by the dancers' movements are incredible. Also, the dancers are so in sync it looks unreal. I'm truly speechless, great job!
Stunning! I love the blue representation of the river/tears. My fave part is 2:35, where they're swaying from side to side. Perfection.
The Amish been REAL QUIET since this dropped.
🤣🤣🤣
🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣 omg this comment brought me to tears
Speak on it 🙌🏾 🤣
Girll wtf 😂😂😂
🤣🤣👍🏽💯
this looks amazing.
and totally agree with the commenters about the great part at 1:50 - 2:02 .
That is my favorite part!!!!
Everything is great. The ensemble are so strong. Well done. :)
This was absolutely spectacular. 🫶 The different shades of blue dresses & their neutral faces the entire time added so much to that dance. Absolutely loved it & that song. ❤
Around midway, the dancing starts to align with the song, that’s when it gets good😊
Literally screamed out "I'm in love"
You think you have seen everything and then this video shows up. Incredible dance routine.
I admire this piece as the artist combined three different generes, I saw contemporary, one modern style hiphop phrase, and close to the end of the song I saw what looked like a lyrical or liturgical phrase, wow! There sky blue or ocean blue packaging was quite fitting for the theme of the piece ( Cry me a River) love it.
Timberland’s production just so many layers to work with. Beautiful
This is perfection. Mesmerizing, intelligent, beautifully executed, just perfect.
All of the dancers in this video were PHENOMENAL.
I was almost crying at the end... #AbsoluteBeauty #Art
I always come back to watch this video.
Still as much of a masterpiece as the day it was uploaded. Excellent
1:50 - 1:51 that moment when they move in unison looked so good to me
This should have been the video for this song! Amazing!
something about that turn at 1:27 ... breathtaking
2:30 onwards was absolute perfection for me!! I loved the whole piece but that last two minutes... Goosebumps!!!
You are such a huge inspiration. Incredible video! As always.
This looks like it can be a scene from a Hunger Games novel/movie broadway show.
ohmychickenballllls exactly what I was thinking :D
Harry Potter ... Fleur D'elacour and the other girls
it also has a cult-vibe to it. With the guy in the middle and all the women around him and their dresses look a bit religious...
The lead dancer had one Fine Attitude throughout his entire body and demeanor.
2:36 to the finish - especially love those swaying, lilting lifts. mm mm Gooood.♥
Bravo to all!
One of the best choreographies if seen in a long time
that was brilliant!!!
I love the feminine dancers performing as masculine. It first caught my eye at 1:50-2:04. Their moves are so severe and sharp and in sync with the lead. Well done. Fecking mesmerizing.
YES THAT WAS MY FAVORITE PART
I like the subtle differences in the ladies dresses- they were more river- like and varying in that way. Wonderful male dancer.
4 years later I still comeback to watch it again, beautiful work of art
This is so beautiful omgg
wow the video was at like 70k views when I left his comment
super cool andrew! love it!
thanks carrie!!
Andrew Winghart this is excellent! From beginning to end.
Would you consider checking out BTS's mv's? Not Today is hittin it but they have a lot of others that may be more your style.
Would love it if you could get some of your choreo in an MV!
yes army you promo our boys
Former dancer here as well (jazz) Loved the entire piece... awesome choreo and cinematography!👏👏👏👏
Cry Me a River is one of my favorite Justin Timberlake songs. I NEVER imagined that someone could dance to it! This is beautiful. After the incredible dancing, my favorite part are the blue gowns the women are wearing and their river current-like movements.
😱😱😱😱😲😲😱😱😱😱😱 legit one of the sickest things I have EVER seen ----- ridiculous how utterly Stellar this is... I literally have no words good enough 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
i can't help seeig Beauxbatons doing this #potterdhead
Claudia Nyamda glad i'm not the only one 😂
A message to the choreographer - Andrew Winghart - fantastic imagery. Dance shows that tempest of a river by the beautiful dancers. Do not know if that was your intent - that was my first impression. I realize this video is old but so relevant today - with all of us crying tears that can fill not just a river but an ocean with our lives been drastically changed by these Covid chaotic times. I thank you ever so much and I would love your feed back if by chance you ever see this post.
First off, I am waaaaayyy older than everyone on here, literally from another generation. The dancing, music, backdrop, colors all melted together into one slowly over time. I can't dance worth shi*t, but can tell getting that many people in one group to move together is a rough project and well done, much better than the usual stuff you see put out. If all of you are speaking to another generation of people, you are battin 100 💪🙌 Keep up the great work and congrats to all of you.
XOXO from Chicago🙂
unexpected influx of comments in the last 24 hours..... not sure why that is happening but either way thanks so much for all of the kind words on this one!
Fantastic composition (beyond the hype). Gave me shivers.
Andrew Winghart Andrew this is a brilliant piece of work, thank you for sharing!. I was just curious to know why you hired someone to be the lead instead of dancing yourself?
Andrew Winghart Bollroom dancing
This video is EXACTLY what i have been wanting from the dance community, and what i want to work towards aswell.
thankyou SO MUCH for making this beautiful video and choreography.
well done sir,
WELL
DONE
Andrew Winghart this choreography is superb
I luv it!
You remind me of Akram Khan..Brilliant, all of you.
This dance is AMAZING! I watch it all the time. The song is beautiful. They are all extremely talented dancers.
That was a really cool handmaids tale inspired dance loved the uniformed fashion, dance was awesome.... amazing.😄😄👋👋👋
I am literally OBSESSED with this choreography. Emotional lyrics + intricate choreography + a layered Timbaland beat = my favorite kind of dance ever.
I can't imagine how much passion and work went into this masterpiece: the chores, the body control of the performers, the cinematic and camera work, awesome!
Couldn't keep my eyes off of the male dancer. Beautiful.
The creativity is just perfect.
That footwork is absolutely insane! Great job you guys!
I've watched this so many times. To the point, I heard the song on the radio and this is all I could picture.
The movements are hauntingly beautiful and I feel it in the guys facial expression.
This perfectly reflects the situation at my dance classes when I was a kid: 37 girls and 1 boy. You'd have to cry a river to form a pair with him haha.
C'est juste magnifique !
Amazing choreography. The dance is impeccably executed. Truly inspiring.
HONEY, WHERE'S MY SUPER SUIT
His clothes reminds me of Frozone from the Incredibles.
Honestly this is some amazing choreography though. I am amazed.
Extensions Artistry Synchrony Balance Excellent Energy and Vibe 🕯️
i loved this video 5 years ago and i love it now
That's one of my favorite Justin Timberlake songs. This was a very nice performance; and the guy is cute.
The representation of the river and the multiple beat overtones with the women is so powerful.
this is the best dance I´ve ever seen on youtube, the rythm, the moves and the locations -Just stunning.
Omg, beautiful and moving! Love it.
George George George ❤🤘🏾 but this choreography and directorial is amazing I love this 😎
I kept seeing this in my recommendations and was like "why?" Finally watched it after a few days. Loved it
I m blown away they killed it completely the waves the movements the vibes no smiles damn loved it
The Handmaids can dance their butts off 🔥
omg someone said it🙈🙈🙈😍🤣🙈🙈🙈
I thought it was only me 😂
Wow...this is some mad choreographers....
So strong! Both the choreography as well as the dancers! Thank you for this refreshing piece of art.
Amazing Dancing moves!❤🎉
Music + Movement = Beauty 👌🏴😎
I clicked expecting a video..This dance memorized me..visually breath taking!
I came back often to this masterpiece
Watching them do that on concrete hurt my knees. LOL But the coordination skill and physical control is undeniable. Well done!
One word WAUW !!! And the choreography is incredibly beautiful and grandiose 🌹♥🌹
Who the hell disliked this?! It's amazing!
Probably feminist who don't like the fact that a make was the lead
@@bouncyavi4528 👍🤣🤣🤣
Bouncy Avi 🤦🏻♀️ That’s not what feminism is.
And since y’all are asking, I wouldn’t go so far as to click the dislike button, or even comment on my own accord...but I’ve definitely got some issues with the some of the artistic choices. Dancers technique and execution were great, and I could see some bits of the complexity that the creator was trying to convey, but for me it mostly fell short. 😐🤷🏻♀️
Again, I’m not usually one to give my two cents when it’s negative, but it was very very homogeneous which translated into basic/boring for me.
There were many missed opportunities to add complexity and dimension, & the choreo almost exclusively chose to emphasize the melodious parts, right off the top of the song- which my ears don’t need help picking up on! Nothing to bring about background sounds or harmonies you wouldn’t notice on your own.
And if this was executed well I would totally look past the little a costume- but the dress was a total miss for me! I don’t understand what the director is going for here!
I did enjoy the camerawork! But Overall it was just okay. 🤷🏻♀️ 😬
The guy reminds me of wes from how to get away with murder
manlike muny phew thought I was the only one !
Words fail me. This video never gets old!
Masterpiece
SPECTACULAR! Had to watch it again & again. Can’t take my eyes off the handsome Dance teacher.( he’s gawjuss) and the girls were mesmerising together. Simply Fantastic 👏👏👏👏👏👌
Dang, this is so cool! The costumes, the movements, everything was so beautiful!
I also love the whole lyrical dance
Okay. THIS video just made my whole week! Awesome!!!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I've lost count of how many times I've watched this, but it never ceases to amaze.
Beautiful dancing. Was this shot in front of a green screen? There's something with the lighting that's messing with my mind.
Nope no green screen!
They most likely did all of these shots at different times of the day so most likely there is lighting variations. I could tell at some parts that they had to have lighting as it was towards the end of the day.
we had one giant light source in front and the rest was all natural light you are correct - our shoot day was pretty short as light was contingent on sun being out!
@Tesy Lava I think so too, for example, you can see a big light change between the
first and the last shot. The windows in the ceiling show that the sun
moved. I guess the first one was done at noon, sun directly
above/between both windows, while the last one was done 2-3 hours before
or most probably after.
They most probably started in the morning
with setting up the euipment, costume and makeup for the dancers and
some warmup/rehearsal, then started shooting around noon with the
totals. Colser shot, like the one at 01:52, were probably done later in
the afternoon, when the windows in the background didn't look that nice
anymore (that's how I would do it) and you can clearly see there is a
big soft light source placed on the right side outside the frame. As
Andrew said in another comment, that light source was also used as fill
light in the frontal shots
Nice! It's refreshing to see this type of dancing! I'm tired of seeing women and men in hills slanging their ass around doing the same damn dances over and over bored of it!!!!!!!! What you have created here is art. And I don't understand why anyone would give thumbs down...this is the arts!
Crying . This is how awesome is this dance
