- Opeth played a short set as part of Record Store Day 2013 at Newbury Comics in Leominster, Massachusetts on April 20, 2013
Thanks to Opeth, their label, Newbury Comics, and Record Store Day for putting this together!
Axe: "I miss my other drums."
+Kyle Mitchell (icer22x) HAHA He is very unhappy
His pumping feet are speaking it out loud. :P
With a single drum in the presence of the great Lars Ulrich... I'd die!
i felt bad, he looked like he wished he had more technical things to play
@@u.v.s.5583 That's basically all the drum parts you need to play recent Lars Ulrich stuff though, which is kinda sad haha
Lordy Axe has hair most girls would die for
Heritage is such a profoundly beautiful album, it's music speaks to the soul. No wonder many people didn't get it.
Kshitij Tiwari agree with you man... heritage took the sound and concepts of opeth to a different level.. it takes a lot of time to like it.. wen u strt to understand it.. you understand what an amazing album it is.. although "Famine" is my favourite song from it..
agreed...its a profound album.
I agree too
Yea, Heritage is dark as fuck and really evil at times. It's not an easy record, with heavy songs. Not heavy in tone, but heavy in composition.
Steven Turntable my words dude..my words
That last fucking solo by Mikael brought a tear to my eye.
This song has such an eerie tone to it. I love it. It’s very much an opeth tune. It sounds like where him and Steven Wilson went with storm corrosion. It almost could be in that lp.
I know I was thinking that, Heritage has many Storm Corrosion snd Steven Wilson vibes, especially on this and I feel the dark
Could you imagine just walking in the record store, unbeknownst they were doing a gig there and...
They looks lile lord of the rings characters
I know who the hobbit is
One of the reasons I will never bash HERITAGE...this song is on it. It's one of their best.
I can't believe how amazingly perfect Mikael played that solo...perfection...
why bash any album? I think Opeth's albums are nice in many different ways!
Yeah, I mean in overall I don't like some things about the album, but the first time I listened to this song I was shocked! That solo is a clear representation of "less is more" on the guitar.
Outro to this track is the best moment on the whole album *_* Damn, it's so beautiful.
holy shit I wish I were at this
Sounds like you are surprised that you were at this :D
Oh my God, this is just amazingly beautiful, that guitar....
Sought a dream inside the light
Finally relieved from blight
(followed by that creepy atmospheric bridge) - best part of the song
+ravenouscolonelhart it's plight
That keyboard blended so well into mikeals voice 4:20
I love how they can play anything from their older shit at anytime, bands like Tool have a set play list for every concert, it says alot about the writing and how some bands will let go of thier past because of the anger that they possessed but the past should be embraced for it formed who you are today.
Look at those lucky people, sitting there, enjoying Opeth's live performance. :) Totally jealous..
Exactly what I was thinking. How can we get invited 😂🥹
Heritage has my favourite performances from Axe
As much as I hate people recording, I really appreciate you doing this. Magical. Actually, if just one or two people were recording it really wouldn't be so bad.
WybjornVR Well my friend recorded it. I just requested the files because it needed to be shared. I'm just glad Opeth and their label seem to be cool with it so it can remain up.
No problem!
It was an awesome performance and hopefully more people will see this and support all that they do.
2:31 So simple, so powerful, as is the whole song really. Words fall short. By the way I love this crowd, they know when to shut up. You could hear a needle drop. I'm guessing they were all as enthralled as I was.
Love all these clips. Fab uploads, Adam!
thanks! :)
His name is actually Lars. Look it up.

This is super awesome, thanks for capturing this and sharing it.
this sounds great live, thank you for sharing!
Wow, just WOW!!! Fantastic. So happy this was captured and shared.
Brilliant performance as expected .. thanks for sharing mate
That piece at the end of this song is incredible, absolutely love it!
Incredible!
Everything about this is cool. Thanks!
Loving them!
thx for the upload..great performance
This is so awesome, thanks for posting.
Fantastic song. And what a performance here!
Such a beautiful song, especially love the outro
You're the best Adam! Thank you!
Thanks for these videos lucky you!!
Love that PRS Signature with the logo. And Akerfeldt is such an awesome entertainer!
Awesome, man. Thanks for recording and sharing.
One of my favourite Opeth tracks
This brought such happiness, I cried. 🌳
Thanks for the clips Adam.
Aman Hassan You are quite welcome. Enjoy!
Just Perfect.
Dude, you're best after them! Thanks a lot!
Amazing.
Awesome a band like this would do a venue like this. Great footage also.
... This version really makes one appreciate the complexity and elaboration of the song.
Astonishing.
god that was brilliant
best song from Heritage. great performance
we need pro shot of this!
Häxprocess, title from swedish singer-songwriter Kjell Höglund
Opeth is amazing some of the bands best musical duality, ie to have its brutal side, end. It can also be melancholic, more prog ... to hear any other band would believe it.
after 6:00 is the awesome depressing blues bar part I like to call it. It's memorizing.
A lifeline in a drop of blood
A dying wish shun a God
Sought a dream inside the light
Finally relieved from plight
O this night is deceiving
One eternal Winter
Earth below and reeling
Moor is riding high
Father and a liar
One forgotten season
Secrets in the mire
Moor is riding high
Aligning
A name inside a memory
Waiting for you
When words can't win her
There is nothing to do
Save your children
Drenched in poverty
Tracks in the snow
Leading them to woe
heritage was such a monumental let down for me but seeing this live video makes me really appreciate the song.
I agree, I appreciate the song :)
Heritage is amazing!!
Can't believe I missed this show. This isn't far from where I live at all
Magic
Lol, Axe on drum (singular!) :P
"...And I'm Lars Ulrich" LOL! Mikael's got the best stage banter I've ever heard!!
You lucky bastards! One of a kind, kind of performance!
awesome song, such a nice deep and dark atmosphere....kind of odd in front of all these multicolored stuffed animal and magazines ;)
Wow...
Maybe akerfeldts best melodic solo. I love this song.
what keyboard is that. it seems to have all the essentials
Lars Ulrich disliked this! :P :D
Is the 1st name of Mikaelovich 😀👍
you are quiet welcome. enjoy!
Man I just love Mikael and Axe bondage
Adam, what recording equipment did your friend use? Just curious, the sound quality is amazing
It was actually just a little Canon point-and-shoot. I remember it being from the SD line but I don't recall the model. He has long-since replaced it. I used UA-cam to stabilize the footage. I should revisit the raw files because I could now do a much better job on my own.
The drummer initially seemed to be Jackson Pollock throwing some psydelelic colours on his canvass the way he stroke the cymbal.
Mikael is the Frank Zappa of our generation. Great performance
Ni skulle få kunna häxprocessa mig! omnivetvadjagmenar! ^^
I wish I could go :(
i was rather fond of his comment before Atonement about cuddling Steven Wilson!
6:24 Opeth goes Brothers in Arms.
Hey look its Lars Ulrich!
The Great Cornholio why he said that?
Because his first name is Lars.
exodus singer at the guitar ????
fabulous sound
Heritage was an unusually dark album
What keyboard is he using, anyone? Sounds beautifully pure (just like any other instrument in the band)
+LeonardMcrendall It's a Swedish brand called "Nord Keyboards".
+LeonardMcrendall I think he's using a Nord Stage II.
+Álvaro Rodríguez Ortiz thanks guys. They are my favourite keyboard brand now. Amazing
Parts of this song sound like something off Damnation or Deliverance. I’m not a fan of Heritage, but this song is great.
lucky bastards!)
The guy in the front with an OBSCURA shirt = win
I think that's an Obituary tee but Obscura sure are fucking amazing lol
8:09 was that someone's child?
Who's on the keyboards? I couldn't get the name.
+Joydeep Sengupta Joakim Svalberg
Oni thi biest ones bi opeth,
nnnjieats fe sho
kewl
"my name is Lars Ulrich"
you know, or quite...
They basically gave him plastic drums, i can hear the sound of a sweatshop
Notice when Mike introduce that next song is from Herritage someone in the crowd says "fuck" :-D
ha ?!
7:45 CORONAVIRUS
0:35, LMAO! Lars Mikael Akerfeldt, you're Lars Ulrich? I thought you were Michael Buble. 🤣🤣🤣
My god Axenrot at 3:00 looks bored as all hell 🤣
Me mata la cara de aburrido del baterista :S
Axe looks so bored, lol.
Axenrot is actually a machine. True story.
prs se akerfeldt
yaawn
Lars got more talented ;)
What a crappy, toothless bass tone. You can't even hear separate notes, it's just like an inarticulate gurgling sound. If I were the bass player, I would refuse to play like that.
dreadful
