Thank you for this pattern! Just a heads up, we used the Large size of the pattern and our dog's collar did not fit through the hole along the top. We changed it up a bit ourselves to make it larger to fit.
If you dont want to fold the edges over, you can also sew two pieces together, (right sides together) and sew that! Can make a top stitch on that also if you choose.
I had to add an inch and a half to two inches to the top portion that makes the pocket to slip the collar in. Besides that adjustment love the template and video!
Omg today my father will bring a puppy home and I am waitiiiiiiing 😄❤❤❤ It was supposed to be gome yesterday but father wasn't able to bring it so he'll bring it todaaaaaaay😅 So happpy
so cute, so easy. Do you think it would work if you cut two different fabrics and skip the step of hemming. Instead put right sides together, sew, turn, top stitch? I'm not much of a sewer, so just wondering if that. would work.
When you fold over 1/4" again (2nd fold) is that in ADDITION to the first fold (as in ... unfold it and then measure another 1/4") or using the first fold as the "new edge" and then do 1/4" from there (idk if this question makes sense - the video was did not show the 2nd fold so Im confused)
Hello! This is super cute! However, I believe the pattern needs some updating especially for larger dogs. The pocket doesn’t allow for enough fabric to fold over and place onto large dog collars.
The issue that I have been having with the xs/s bandana is when i hem or double hem it and I fold it down that there is barely any room to slide the collar through. I feel as if the rectangular part needs to be doubled. Am I missing something?
Hey Daniela, I'm sorry you're having trouble! It's possible that we used a smaller collar when drafting the pattern; I would definitely go with your gut and increase the size of top section. Let us know how it turns out and, again, our apologies!
@@spoonflower Yeah I just did the small size and had the same problem. I made a second one with one inch of extra material on the top to fold down and that seems to be about the right amount of space. Thanks for the idea and pattern though :)
@@spoonflower we need the pattern with the new adjustments. I just downloaded the one you posted and the joke for the collar too narrow collar won’t slide through
When I printed the pattern, it is two pages. The demo does not show that. It looks like she is using just the one page cut to size. Did she tape the two together?
I've tested both the one page and the two page pattern. I prefer the two page because I can be sure the opening for the collar is big enough, after I fold and sew, for collars with a thicker width. Also, all sizes of the two page pattern are a bit bigger than the one page which isn't a big deal to me.
Same. I made XL and the pattern is very small. When you fold over to make the pocket it doesn’t even fit over a dog collar meant for larger dogs. I had to do some adjustments with the pattern 🥲
I am confused because your pattern download give cutting instructions for xs, small, medium and large -xl. In the square box it shows xs, small, large, large-xl. Is the large and xl the same measurements and if so could you show the pattern size Thank you
Hi!! This is a great video can't wait to go home and make one for my dog. I was wondering if you were thinking about making a video on how to make a tie on dog bandana as well??
Carrie Acuahuitl try the dollar store they sell little bandannas and just buy one and see if it fits him it is too big for my papillon but it fits my collie just right so I trimmed it up for my pap and it fits him fine now!! Ugh I wish I could share pictures
Can someone recommend an exact type of fabric? the vid said woven... but can someone be more specific? Just started sewing six months ago. Edited to say I just noticed they put the fabric type in the top corner ! Lightweight cotton twill.
Made one today printed the template on 8.5 x11 inch paper and my bandana came out way to smaller, the collar didn’t even fit through the hole. I followed instructions to a T. Any suggestions?
Hi, Hillary! You could probably hand sew this, but because it's for use on a pup (and you know they can be a little ruff!) it might not hold up as well. If you end up trying, let us know how it works!
I just started sewing and I bought a Singer Tradition 2277. It's been great and I've had no problems with it at all. It's just a little hard to find a sewing machine at the moment because everyone is sewing masks lol
blog.spoonflower.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/SF-DogBandana-Pattern-2020.pdf There's dimensions on the pattern doc so you should be able to create you're own template. I hope this helps. :)
Hey Devon, since the project requires a fat quarter, you could conservatively estimate getting at least 4 per yard. But if you're laying them out intentionally to maximize the number, you might be able to get more!
Hey McKenna - we have Large-XL in one size (although the 'medium' is missing from the key!). If you needed a larger size, you could add 1" to 1.5" to the template.
i don't have a sewing machine, fabric shears, and I'm not allowed to use the iron... my dog is a female so either way why did i click on this video... why am i watching this video? IDK!!!!!!!!
Never sewn before! But just made the cutest doggie bandana thanks to this video!❤️ Thank you guys so much’
I love the begging! He is so happy running around ♥️

This was so incredibly helpful! Thank you so much
Love this! Just got a puppy and I want to make my own with the fabric I like. Never sewn before but this looks pretty simple!
Just made a Christmas one for my dog and it was so easy and looks so cute! Thank you for this tutorial 💕🐾
Of course - we're glad it turned out well!
thank you! this is exactly what i was looking for
Such a fun and easy project! I’m a beginner and it took me about 10 min to make one.
If you dont want to fold the edges over, you can also sew two pieces together, (right sides together) and sew that! Can make a top stitch on that also if you choose.
Thanks for suggesting that! Beginner sewer here and I want to make it but want the pattern to be on both sides. Greate idea.
you’d be able to make reversible bandanas this way too!
How to? I messed one up yday
Can you please show us how to make regular dog collars, doggy hairbows and dog clothes please
I had to add an inch and a half to two inches to the top portion that makes the pocket to slip the collar in. Besides that adjustment love the template and video!
so cute! I'm definitely going to make some of these for gifts!
M Willems give me a gift 😂
yess
Me to👌
Me too I have 5 doggie gifts to make for friends and family
This is so cute 🥺 I’m gonna make one for my cat 😂 (hopefully he likes it) 🐾

I just made one for our dog ! It’s so cute and super easy !!!
Perfect. So hard to find a decent print for larger dogs I prefer slip on collar ones as they don't fall off!
Thank you for the template!!!
does that template work on a regular size piece of printer paper?
This is so cute but what do you do with the dog tags on the collar?
I have so many clothes I don't need. Can I use that to make this? Or does it have to be a certain type of fabric. I'm learning how to sew.

Yes, so essentially you're trying to hide the raw edge. Fold and then fold over again and press and then sew. :)
Hello! This is super cute! However, I believe the pattern needs some updating especially for larger dogs. The pocket doesn’t allow for enough fabric to fold over and place onto large dog collars.
If I wanted to use regular cotton, would I need to do an interfacing with it?
This was beyond helpful, thank you so much!
This was super easy and informative!
I made this for my dog but the casing on the small template can barely let the collar in. Should I increase the size?
I cut it the same way and it doesn’t turn out right.
I just bought fabric from your Etsy account yesterday! Wow!
Thanks for the template!

@@SeattletoWellesley Thanks so much for your feedback, Elizabeth! We'll update the pattern to add more room to the top portion for each size.
@spoonflower you haven't made this update, have you? My medium and large size turned out great but the small is just too small for her collar.

I just made this for my dog and it turned out smaller than I wanted it. I’m going to try again but make the pattern a little bigger.
I just made a “medium” size for my dog and it turned out way shorter than the pattern
I had the same issue, did you finally get it right?
Love this. Trying it today.
Hi!! This is a great video can't wait to go home and make one for my dog. I was wondering if you were thinking about making a video on how to make a tie on dog bandana as well??
Were I can buy this type of fabric. with this precious design? Can you help me?
Love it!! How much time do you spend to make the bandana??
very good accessory.👍👍👏👏
Where can I purchase the template
Can this work if you don’t iron it?
I have to make one for a great Pyrenees. Neck is about 25-30 inches. How can I modify this pattern? Not sure what the 7.5" xtra large means. Thank you
THANK YOU this will be great for my service dog!
Could you tell me the measurements of the paper for marking
What size bandana does your dog wear ?? I have a maltipoo and have no idea what size I should get him, any tips?? 😇

I cut the fabric. but aren't these dimensions too big? in excess? please come back
Where can I get the template with the measurements
Hi, Cathy - the free template can be downloaded on the Spoonflower blog: blog.spoonflower.com/2018/02/sew-a-bandana-for-your-pet/
how do i prevent the slides from sliding down to the center of the collar causing the bandana to bunch
where can I find the free pdf pattern?
Can I use Velcro for closure
You can also make it double sideed and add high vis piping around the top !
I’m supposed to leave the pin in?
Hi where did you get the clips? 😄
Do you have the measurements? Love this video!
Did you wash first the material?
We do recommend washing before sewing to ensure that the fit doesn't change with future washings!
Where can I get the template?
@@brendafarmer9813 Its in the description box.
Great tutorial!
Eu acho que o UA-cam deveria ter um tradutor, pra facilitar pras pessoas!

maybe make it 2 or 3 inches bigger so it has room for the lead to fit through if that's what u mean
where can I get template
Would there be a way to make the collar reversible? :))
I mean the bandana**
Where do you find the template to make different sizes please
Can you do this without a sewing machine?

I would love to start making my dog bandanas. What would you recommend as a first starter sewing machine (low cost)

Ash J your right I’m thinking I might have to order one online... thank you I will look into it :)
omg!! superrrr easyyyy!❤️
this one was a medium? :) i was trying to make a small one and i feel like it might be too small? have you made a small one with those measurements?
If you print out the pattern it has the different sizes on it :D
which size for human
Should the template be printed on A4 paper for the sizing to be correct?
Hey there! Yes, you should use A4 paper (or 8.5 x 11", if you're in the US) for correct sizing
Spoonflower Thanking you!
Can you still do the project if you can't print out the template?
blog.spoonflower.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/SF-DogBandana-Pattern-2020.pdf
There's dimensions on the pattern doc so you should be able to create you're own template. I hope this helps. :)
So cute!
the video was so helpful!
Hey Spoonflower! What breed is the dog at the beginning of the video?
The owner says she's a Basenji Terrier mix! Her name is Allie (short for Alligator), and she's very sweet.
Thank you👌💖🐾
Where can I get the templete?
Juan - the free template can be downloaded on the Spoonflower blog: blog.spoonflower.com/2018/02/sew-a-bandana-for-your-pet/
muchas gracias ^^ alguien sabe con que otro nombre se le puede encontrar al material?
How many per yard can you make making all larges? any guesstimates?
Hey Devon, since the project requires a fat quarter, you could conservatively estimate getting at least 4 per yard. But if you're laying them out intentionally to maximize the number, you might be able to get more!
Which material were you using?
We're using Spoonflower's Lightweight Cotton Twill, but you could use our Linen-Cotton Canvas, or Eco Canvas!
Very easy, thank you.
Where do you find the templates to use?
Hi, Holly - the templates can be found on our blog: blog.spoonflower.com/2018/02/sew-a-bandana-for-your-pet/
That’s really fab
Obrigada ❤️
Is anyone having problem with bulk on the corners? I find when I fold the material over two times that it's quite thick on the corners.
Jacquie Boily just fold once. There's honestly no need for a double hem.

Deixa as medidas e os moldes por favor
Is it just me or is the large size missing from the template?
Hey McKenna - we have Large-XL in one size (although the 'medium' is missing from the key!). If you needed a larger size, you could add 1" to 1.5" to the template.
Spoonflower ok, thanks!
Spoonflower so what would I add if my dogs collar adds up to be "6.5, after I divide it?
the template cut out looks like Nevada lol
It totally does - we didn't even realize that!
