Remember my buddy Campbell bein like “You heard Slipknot yet”, right when the album dropped. My response, “How heavy are they?” Best ride home in 10th grade ever.
My friend bought their album on release day and had to walk past my house on the way home which meant my CD player was the closest one to town and he came straight to mine to play it and changed my life.
Lol same here. Literally 10th grade (2000). My friend burned me a cd and I jammed Wait and Bleed walking in the hallways. I wanted to punch everyone I walked past who were douchebags.
I went to Ozzfest 2001 thinking I was going to see Linkin Park and Papa Roach. Never even heard of Slipknot other than a band with beef against Fred Durst. They opened with Sic. My life was changed. Holy shit they were amazing back then.
Fun Fact: Harpo's probably hasn't changed a lightbulb or hammered a loose nail since about 1999. Thing is, all the best shows came through in the late 90's all through the 2000's, usually 3-4 bands you loved on one bill for $20. It's a dump, but it's our dump :) . Much love from Detroit
The first time I was supposed to see Slipknot was in August 1999 at the infamous OKC show at the Tower Theater. Slipknot was not allowed to play because they weren't the headliner so there wasn't enough room for their gear on the stage. Needless to say, the fans were pissed. Like close to rioting pissed. EVERYONE was there to see Slipknot, with the added benefit of seeing Amen,Machine Head, and Coal Chamber (the headliner). During Machine Head's set, the fans literally ripped theater seats out of the ground that were previously bolted to the floor and threw them around. It was awesome. Since Slipknot couldn't play that night, they came back in April as the headliners with Ultraspank and Mudvayne in tow (right before LD 50 dropped) and oh my sweet baby Jesus... it was magical.
Impressive. Especially Mudvayne part, LD50 is one of the best nu metal albums I have ever listened to. Wish they would come back for reunion for once at least.
I saw them 6 months later in Portsmouth, UK. Have never been able to find any footage of that gig. Cannot believe it was 20 damn years ago. Still their best album.
Footage likely exists and if it does its probably in the collection of a person I know, they have quite possibly the biggest slipknot collection in the world
I saw them tour this album in Feb 2000 and I remember (just like this video) how loud the drums were. It was sooooo much better with the clicky kick drum pounding through all night. It was like the sound you get a festival, but at a club indoors. (Sic). I got the album 4 days before this show, but we had already had two teasers on magazine CDs in the UK. One just before this and one in about May or June that was a rough cut of Eyeless. It was insane. The album got a 5 out of 5 in Kerrang so I bought it and never looked back.
Who ever recorded this bless your life in whole I most likely missed this concert either because I was in flint playing at the metropolis or whatever but thank god this footage exists 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼😵😵😵🖤🖤🖤
Saw them second stage earlier that year at ozzfest in michigan. Got to mosh withi Shawn and had a blast! I've been live a few times since hahaha! Can't wait to see them again soon
holy ****!!!! Bringing me back!!!! Corey with his hoarse voice and crazy ass dancing. His drunk rambling's that actually made sense...lol. oh i love it!!!!!
I am old and I was there during the first runs on this album (and all of them since), but this and the IOWA tours were by far and away the best. The Vol 3 tours were cool and festivals of around that time, but then once you have seen Spit it Out take half an hour and the crowd jumping thing 20 times, it gets a bit samey. For me, the show hasn't evolved for a long long time, except for some new songs (that are nowhere near as good as the old stuff), so it can be a bit boring. Big stages and stuff like at Download or Sonishpere and they lose the fact that they are 9 of them a little bit. 2009 at Download was the best though, followed by 05 as that one still felt really fresh and they were the best festival shows. Sonisphere 11 was sweet as they did the tributes to Paul.
@@vxrdrummer Download Festival 2009 is my best Slipknot "big" concert as well. They have some kind of energy that remember those old days, you can feel it by hearing Corey's voice or seeing Jim's insane headbanging. What a nice vibe.
I was at this show! it was right after the Ozzfest tour! Here they opened for Coal Chamber which is absurd as it sounds because everyone left after Machine Head! They came back to Harpos several months later as a headliner with Mudvayne and Biohazard
Good ole young, heavy, fuck the world style Slipknot. They could never recreated the magic of this. This was something you had to be in for. Definitely deserving of all their success and big show stuff to this day and they achieved the world domination through their hard work. This is good
And they were one of the opening acts on this tour! If I was in machine head or coal chamber I would've thrown in the towel on trying to match this energy
Man, I miss these years! Everything sounds so energic, real, no one could stop the scene, festival were dope. Well actual bands are really nice now but hey, there is the rage? In the machine?

Back when they were young, hungry and truly heavy.

Truth. Love Harpo's.
Yup. I was at these early Slipknot shows. I actually went to see Phil Anselmo over the Winter, and Harpos had no heat.

Nothing compares to this. Maybe nothing ever will. This era was the last time shit felt *real*
Not sure if anyone else knows what I mean
Yeah, it was the last Slipknot "underground" Era.
The last and definitive incarnation between 1995-1999.
You obviously never saw pantera with slayer.
@Deadnsd If You think Slayer sucks, then You should probably stick to Your Crazy Town or some shit.
@Deadnsd Gotem mad
@Deadnsd Nice try, incel. You're more into your love pillow.

17:18 - Purity
22:10 - Spit It Out
This was one of the best nu-metal tours ever in my opinion. Coal Chamber, Slipknot, Amen, and Machine Head. Hard to beat that in those days.
Hard to beat that THESE days. That was the last good era imo
I saw the leg with Coal Chamber, Dope and Slipknot and that show RIPPED
Amen were awesome.
It wasn't just good bands, it was the proper time for this music. Machine head along with others got me through much in life.
yeah i saw only slipknot in that tour, coal chamber sucks a lot
Walking around the halls in high school circa 2000-2003 jamming Slipknot and wanting to punch everyone I hated...

The real Slipknot
@Deadnsd I'm pretty sure when they played ozzfest in 2002 it was even better and heavier than 1999
@Deadnsd so Slipknot in 99 was better then ?
@Deadnsd that's wassup man 🔥 hopefully I get to see them in Austin Texas next year
@Deadnsd That's funny, because Slipknot never played ozzfest in 2002. 2001 or 2004 you might be thinking of?
