- Scottish Police will be paid to take part in Pride parades despite forces cutting back on fighting crime, reports say.
Uniformed police officers were asked to stand for excessive force at LGBTI marches in exchange for pay or a day off.
While senior officers will monitor hundreds of marches, they have asked other staff to attend them to show support for the protesters.
Talk's Kevin O'Sullivan is joined by former Met Police detective Peter Bleksley who claims participating in pride marches goes against their oaths as a police officer, adding it "shows favour" to one section of the community.

I completely agree with you. I am a Man who happens to be part of the LGB family. (Not Willingly, but Statistically) and I’m ashamed of what it represents. I absolutely do not stand by any of this what’s so ever! I can only apologise. Some of us just want to go to work and then go home to our families like everyone else. Please don’t think this represents us all.
Yes the Day of Remembrance was tarnished by left wing protests, and our national flags were banned in favour of the DEI flags. We are all labelled right wing if we don't agree wholly or even partially with trans rights and DEI politics. Police are public servants whose duty is to enforce the law and protect people. However they fail to investigate crimes, arrest wrongdoers and instead favour the alphabet and religion of peace categories and denigrate anyone else

I`m a retired strathclyde police officer most of the cops in police scotland today would not during my service have made it through their 2 yr probation they may seem up to standard shiny and with the right liberal attitude by inexperienced (never carried out any police duties) token woke police bosses but I am ashamed of the standards of officers in Police scotland today.

I’m a retired West Yorkshire Officer and I too can confirm that the standard of Officers in this area is diabolical. They either lack the skills to build a case or simply have no desire to do so. Crime is rife, the standard of driving in this area is shocking but then it would be as there are no Traffic cars patrolling as there used to be.
Growing up in Glasgow in the 60s/70s a lot of Glasgow Policemen were 6ft+ ex army from the Highlands and Islands, they were hard but fair.
Ex ARV. I am so glad I am out. Absolute clusterfcuk. Brought and paid for. Any serving officer's reading this, find your moral compass and expand your horizons...

Glasgows East End division seem to practice investigating skills on disabled elements, I’m 57 and was doing some recovery exercise recommended by my surgeon to try and maintain my fitness levels, it was around midnight and a young Irish accented officer thought I deserved his attention…I showed evidence of my disability and explained my reasons for being out…I refused to identify myself and walked away thinking…that’s why I have so much respect for our Brave Police Officers, that chap deserves taxpayer funded grub and champagne at the ceremony to celebrate his bravery..!😇

Peter is so accurate. As a retired middle ranking police officer I am disgusted, angry and despondent at how we are policed. The Police College must take responsibility for the😅 decline and lack of trust in the police. The wearing of rainbow cap bands and other paraphernalia is an insult to the Crown uniform officers wear. I am ashamed and embarrassed at the conduct of the police.

It's probably because this year in Scotland, the numbers attending these parades have significantly reduced. Give it another 2 years or so and it will probably be only policepeople attending. Strange world we live in.

A close to retiring police sergeant told me fifty years ago. That the higher essilon of the force was being taken over by university educated officers that had never done service. They were fast tracked to higher levels. While time served, officers were ignored. We have got the results now.
Scotland doesn't feel like home any more.
Being Scottish used to be something to be proud of, or at least it felt that way to me.

I gave up with them twenty years ago. Had a kid smash the windscreen on my car which was witnessed by the neighbour and a month later I called the police because they never got back to me and the policeman said "We left a statement with him to fill out but we haven't had time to pick it up. Could you pick it up and drop it into us" !. I Told him where to go and stop wasting my time and never bothered with them since also have had three speeding tickets since which I have ignored and got away with so there is an upside to their incompetence.

I live in Scotland and I find this latest nonsense from the Scottish Police highly offensive😡🤦♂️

What cost to the public to paint all their cars with rainbow colours, total disgrace.
It feels like I'm living in a madhouse such is modern Scotland where nothing works anymore.
Why are the people that arrange these marches, protests, festivals and carnivals not being forced to pay for the police to cover them.
The same with the clean up of these events, why is the taxpayer always covering the costs.
If you want to hold a March, protest, festival or carnival then you should be&priced to cover the cost of policing it, in advance with a large deposit, and if it works out to cost more then you pay it also. The same with the clean up of these events, you have to give the local councils a large deposit to cover the cleanup, and again if it costs more then to have to payout to cover that extra cost.
Police service, the same as the fire service, ambulance service vehicles should be run by a central procurement centre. In which all vehicles, kit etc… is bought by then *oven out to different parts of the uk. They is no need to have each service in different parts of the country to buy for themselves. For a start it costs a lot more taxpayers money.
If these services had a procurement centre then it would save the taxpayers millions every year. For example the procurement centre could put out a tender for vehicles to the vehicle manufacturers, to last 4 to 5 years. Vehicle manufacturers would jump at the chance to provide vehicles to the police service for the whole country. The cost of each vehicle would be a lot cheaper as they are buying so many, maintenance could and would be covered by the manufacturer’s dealerships again saving money.
Kit needed could be done in the same way.
If it’s ok for the armed forces to have a procurement department, which covers the army, navy and air force. Then it also ok for the police, fire brigade, ambulance service to have the same. Then we the tax payers would save money, and would not have to put up with the woke police turning a vehicle into a rainbow bus for a section on of society, which then makes the rest of society feel the police don’t care about them.

Police Scotland are in dire straits. On average 60 officers are leaving every month. The force is behind forces in England and Wales in terms of technology and personal equipment.
