He really can. His range is lower than Sammy's, but his breath control and pitch accuracy are dead on.

ive actually been seeing this allot. i work in a factory with a bunch of dudes in their late 50s early 60s.
now most of them are hard ass old boy's that have worked their entire lives doing the same rough ass job whatever
but most of them are also old rockers and hippy's ,
when EVH died 3 weeks ago EVERYONE around the plant.... was just strange
the loud as hell yelling at each other was quiet. nobody was doing the old poke fun and hustle and bustle
it was like an old friend had died, now me being a giant EVH and Van halen fan played all of diver down and VH 1 right away
he had just died. but blasting it. LOUD. our work is loud and we work on giant thermoforming machines with plastic sheeting
anyway My boss, hes in his late 50's who has NEVER been a fan of me or my music. comes storming down the mile.
with this look on his face like he was going to kill someone , i turned down Dead or alive so i could hear him speak.
he looks at me in the face and tells me ''i thought i heard Van halen, you ever turn that down again ill write you up, ''
with a grin on his face.
      long story short
Eddy van halens death effected the entire world. but i really did not think of the amount it really has.
This is like someones father dying, or a best friend. we grew up with him. we partied to him, drank to him.
      i just can't Believe he's gone.
      Apparently nobody else can either
      RIP EVH

Of course Micheal was a major part of the harmonies. After what the VH Bros. did to him, hell, I'd never want to play with them again either...cutting him out of pay and royalty money, then kicking him out. ON the other hand, Wolfie is doing a fine job stepping up to the plate...I really listen closely to his bass playing on ADKOT...and he is..and excellent player. Plus, he got the group back on track. and even called DLR to make the Reunion happen. So I'm not gonna ever rank on Wolfie.

This is a reminder of two things for me: 1. When DLR actually cared to put real effort into his vocals during live shows back in the day, he was legit. He obviously never had the chops of Bruce Dickinson or Ronnie James Dio, but he could hold his own as the lead vocalist of a major arena-level hard-rock band - when he wanted to. 2. And Michael Anthony's own vocal contributions have always been vastly underrated by the mainstream. His harmonizing flat-out rules.

    • @michaelcraig9449
      @michaelcraig9449 4 роки тому +12

Dio was great Dickinson had skills but Iron Maiden had such a boring shitty vibe.. negative energy, not funtime party music. You cant party and dance to Iron Maiden. It is like Judas Priest, good for getting in fights and getting arrested. How many girls you see at a Judas Priest or Iron Maiden concert or any metal concert? Maybe 2 or 3 dragged there by their boyfriends. Van Halen was the ultimate party fun band, they got tons of girls at the concerts, so much more fun and cool than a negative angry metal concert! Who the fuck wants to listen to some pissd off dude sing about devils and shit? Never get any pussy that way. Hell with that. I go for parties and hot chicks!

I was at this show! I was 17 and lived about 30 mins away from the Cap Center. In my own rock band at the time, this performance changed my life. The first time I heard VH 1, it stopped me in my tracks. Had never heard anything like that guitar & those vocals. Listen to ON FIRE from VH 2. DLR’s charisma combined w EVH’s technique will unlikely ever be replicated. EVH stopped me in my tracks again on 10/6, a man in his mid 50’s struggling to come to grips with his own mortality by loosing one of his absolute heroes. RIP Eddie. Although we never met, you were a huge part of my life. If you want a kid to learn guitar, play VH 1 & VH 2 for ‘em. It will put them on the right path.

St Louis, 1979, VHs first headline tour promoting VH2. The band whipped the crowd into such a frenzy that the people in the front few rows drug the bands heavy equipment cases out from under the stage and started throwing them up on the stage while the band was playing. Security rushes onto the stage to stop the pandemonium and DLR hops onto one of the cases and yells into the mic “get the F off the stage”at the security guards. And then he says “If I can’t handle these MFers I’ve got no business being up here,”. Then he turns to the guys in the front row and says “Now cut that shit out!” And they immediately went back into another song with the cases still on the stage. It was an unbelievable thing to see!

Thank you for such a wonderful video of King Edward.
The Missus woke me up crying and for the entire day we couldn’t listen to a note of King Edward without the waterworks comin’ - so many good times with his music -it felt weird
We found watching interviews with him and other kind folks like yourself paying tribute to Eddie makes it somewhat easier to bear. We literally had a day of intensely mourning. It might sound daft but Ed’s playing and attitude is hugely responsible for inspiring me to be the person I am.
There’s a Bad Religion ( Punk Band ) Lyric that says it al “ Everyone you love leaves a mark on your soul,
The world is a little less bright without King Edward

Much love and respect! Thank you for honouring our King Edward. Eddie's music touched us so deeply because of his love for the instrument and the innovations he has done. To us, it feels like the brightest and best brother, Uncle, friend mentor you ever had is not in our realm anymore. So, you are forever in the hearts of many a Rock / Metal / Guitar fan's hearts. Stay safe & all the best wishes to you. Watch this Video Interview and you'll see why we're hurting so much...The world is a little less bright without King Edward This is a brilliant interview if you haven’t seen it ua-cam.com/video/yb26D8bBZB8/v-deo.html&ab_channel=Z%C3%B3caloPublicSquare
most people don’t know the King Edward was a bi-racial half Asian / half white Immigrant and that his lifelong friends were the black kids who stood up for them when they came to the US. A definitive American Dream story.
Eddie played the solo on Michael Jackson’s Beat it, re-arranged it so it sounded more ‘Rock’ and introduced Michael to a wider audience for free.
Eddie buried Dimebag Darrell from Pantera with his original Bumblebee Guitar when Dime’s life partner Rita asked him to make a Copy Ed said “an Original deserves an Original”
Vinnie Paul ( Pantera ) Dimebag’s brother says the last words his brother said to him was Van f+*in Halen’ their nightly ritual before hitting the stage.
He gave Jerry Cantrell 5150 Stacks after touring with Alice In Chains and the last concert he went to was TOOL and a TOOL fan asked him to take a picture of the fan in front of Tool’s stage and he did, The fan had no idea who Ed was and Ed was chill with it.
Frank Zappa loved and respected Eddie and got him to teach Dweezil who was obsessed with ED When Frank died Ed was THE 1st first to call with condolences and to offer any assistance.
He did the same for Chris Cornell Guitarist Pete Thorn when Chris Passed
He got Allan Holdsworth signed to Warner to introduce Allan to a wider audience
He was the 1st to mod his guitars in such an extreme way chasing tone, Creating the Super Strat - Humbuckers in Strat style guitars, Waxing Pickups, Variac on his amp and did his first 2 albums with the original Fender Whammy which led to the creation of the Floyd Rose
    Whammy Bar.
Les Paul Said Ed, him & Leo Fender are the only guys who know how to make guitars
His 5150 Amp is still THE go to amp and sound of Modern metal, Gojira use the EVH 5150
His Rhythm Playing was funky, tasteful and rockin’ and his songwriting is the reason his loss is affecting grandparents, parents, kids and all ethnicities alike as Van Halen songs will live forever.
He bravely and quietly fought cancer for 20 years
    Enjoy EVH ua-cam.com/video/L9r-NxuYszg/v-deo.html&ab_channel=Hazardteam

Tks so much for sharing this...saw the show in the city of São Paulo - Brazil, in January 1983, a time when no rock band came this far to present themselves...this show was one of the finest experiences & memories I ever had! I was lucky enough to be familiar with all their albums and songs when they came to town and had one of the greatest moments in my life, repeated it the next day and followed the band for a third show in another Brazilian city, Porto Alegre. Tks for the video, tks so much Van Halen for being such an awesome band at that time

It’s funny because back then, there were obviously no cell phones to pull out and spend the whole time recording a show that you’re at which to be honest with you doesn’t make much sense. When you were at a concert back in the day, you were absolutely in the moment, and you came home with your ears ringing, a concert T-shirt, and talking about it with the buddies you went with for weeks.

Ahhh the raw sound of hard rock now known as classic rock will live on forever. The day we lit our lighters and had no cell phones. We grew up in the best times with the best music. I'm so fortunate to have been a part of this era...my era. That chipmunk smile of Eddie's and the energy was immense. His talent was over the top. There will never be another Eddie. VH was and always be one of my favorites 🤟
