The tank is looking very good. The fish look really good. I have said it before and I'll say it again. You have one of the best looking pair of clown fish.
Also if you kind of pinch the stem with the point of the bone cutters it’ll separate from the plug like 85 percent easier than sliding the whole thing in !! Great vid
What lights do you use and is there any affordable but good light options to replace my bio cube light ? What is the pink sea fan called because I would like to get some if there not to to difficult to keep
Yo when I cut the stems on my plugs i usually wrap the plug in a hand towel. Keeps the plug and stem from flying or hitting something hard with the coral, or just when fragging pieces.
Any updates on the yasha pair you had? That was the best video ever!! Btw, that flasher is not a McCoskers. McCoskers only has one long spine on the dorsal. Maybe a carpenters or yellowfin.
I recently got a Pandora Paly and a green paly. My green paly has been doing good and opening fully but my Pandora has shrunk a little and has just recently started not opening fully, they open but the tentacles are less pronounced and heads seem smaller, they look to be growing together (the stalks were very long but they shrunk up and a few have been merging together) does this mean they arent healthy or are they merging together or something. I noticed when they were doing good my nitrates were 10-20PPM, now my nitrates are around 5PPM. Salinity is 1.025 temp is 79 during the day and 77 at night. Calcium is 470+ and magnesium is 1390, my Hammer is doing great and so is my GSP and Florida ricordea mushrooms. My ph is 8.0. I do have some Nas Snails, Hermits, a Skunk shrimp and a Mandarin that occasionally cruise over the Palys, would this be the reason?
When you're cutting the "plug stem" off the frag plug, what are you doing to glue it to the rock? are you just adding super glue to the bottom of the disk and placing it in the water on the rock? Been looking to do something similar, but I have been concerned about just doing that with the super glue.
Hey man, something you might want to consider: I also used vibrant to overcome a tank crash which resulted in an outbreak of all sorts of algae (gha, turf, and bubble). I was able to get my rocks clear of algae, but then, like you, my tank developed a problem with cyano and dinos. I was so focused on getting the algae out that I bottomed out on nitrates and phosphates. After a period of heavy feeding and eventually dosing nitrates, the cyano and dinos went away. Fast forward about two months, I am battling gha and bubble algae again (I think I was too relaxed with nitrates and phosphates because it was so difficult to get them back up after bottoming out). I am now resorting back to vibrant again, however I make sure to dose nitrates after my vibrant dose and test nitrates almost daily to make sure they don't bottom out. I am hoping that by dosing nitrates and keeping a readable phosphate level while using vibrant, I will be able to get the desired results without the nasty dino/cyano side effect. That said, my dino problem wasn't as bad as yours, so im not sure if you want to take the chance and dose vibrate again but this time with nitrates (and phosphates if needed).
Hey man, thank you for sharing your experience. I think I am following the exact same trajectory as your system... I see bubble algae popping up now that I have laxed on the NO3/PO4. I am a bit nervous about dosing Vibrant again because of what it means if I don't pay attention to my parameters. I was recommended an online store that sells emerald crabs that are guaranteed to eat bubble aglae, so I may try that first along w/ manual removal, before resorting to dosing something for them again. Please keep me posted on how your battle is going? I'd be interested to see if keep the NO3 up after dosing Vibrant will indeed avoid welcoming dino...
@@InappropriateReefer For sure, I'll definitely keep you updated on this little experiment of mine. Another thing I'm doing this time around is a much less aggressive dosing schedule for vibrate. My first go at it, I was dosing every 3rd day. This time I'm doing once weekly at a bit under the recommended dose (however, one week I lost patience and dosed twice in the week, but I will be continuing with once per week unless I am not seeing much progress with the bubble algae). So far, I'm about 5 weeks in with a significant loss of hair algae, but the bubble algae is still growing in some spots. Last time, it was around this point that the cyano and dinos started showing themselves, but this time there is no cyano or dinos visible as of yet. I'm also starting to run carbon as a means of exporting organics since I don't have a skimmer and have been relying only on biological filtration via rocks, sandbed, chaeto and biomedia (its a very very small tank - a fluval evo 13.5)
I have tried a few, including the dollar store ones. My favorite is still the PolypLab super glue. Good portion per tube, by the time the tube gets kind of funky, it's almost out anyways.
Bro no way I probably went crazy but I got a splendid pintail fairy wrasse, carpenter flasher wrasse, long fin fairy wrasse, Christmas wrasse, and yellow coris wrasse! Be careful man it’s the start of an addiction!
Your Flasher might be a Carpenters fairy wrasse and not a McCoskers... they look a lot alike and can be hard to differentiate. Can anyone else tell what kind of wrasse it is?
Try Continuum Equation M, I’ve used it on my tank to kill bubble algae heaps of times. It literally takes about 2 weeks and has never caused me problems nor others I’ve heard using it
They were dropping like flies during the dino outbreak (nutrients bottomed out probably did them in) - I lost the 5 head Frogspawn 2 months ago, and also lost the pink Octcospawn and single head gold hammer. I was able to keep that cluster of Frogspawn up front and there is another big cluster of pink/green frogspawn in the back left corner. They seems happier in the back with the low flow, so I may move the frogspawn from the front to the back as well to remake that garden.
Hey I just stared a tank because of u and been watching all your videos. If u have any cool frags I’ll buy them from u. I live in Texas please get back to me would really like to meet.
I think your tank would benefit a lot from doing color contrast with coral. You can use a chart people use for art to make your tank more beautiful. We have a lot of the same coral and a lot of the same fish, my rock work looks cheaper but my tank looks more colorful even though it isn’t as grown in because of the contrast colors I chose I think.
I recommend not to treat the tank with phosphate rx when you have a Flasher wrasse. I lost mine and I’m certain it was because of lantinum chloride. I have other wrasses that were ok with this treatment.
sarcasm? ...if not well its not for everyone never mind the cost if you don't have the time to dedicate then forget it sure you can have a reef tank basic and have minimal maintenance but if you want a real reef tank that thrives it takes a lot of time husbandry and mula have to love it enough to want to put in the work !!
Bro. You need a clear box to put new fish in when adding to your tank, leave it in the "Peace keeper" for a few weeks then let him loose. Give time for everyone to get to know him. Imagine some random stranger moved into your house and just stayed there. You would probably be aggressive also. Thus to insure the safety of you and your family . These fish think no different you added a new face to the tank without giving proper time for them to get to know each other. The best practice is to add your least aggressive fish first bro. You know better than that. Stop forgetting the basics!!!!!!
Sounds good, thanks for the recommendation -- I wasn't expecting as strong a reaction from the Anthias so was definitely caught off-guard. Just in case I'm looking into an acclamation box since I got a few more fish coming. Doesn't seem like there is a clear winner on the market, is there one that you'd recommend?
@@InappropriateReefer yes, absolutly if you contact Marc (meleves reef) he has one he makes I believe.. not 100% on that but could be imported. I got one years ago from a fellow reefer that made his own acrylic stuff. So custom design for me. And on a lighter note . Love you're tank btw, not hating, we all need a kick in the butt, sometimes as people we don't think it 100% through, I do it all the time for sure. Where I'm like okay this will work I have enough going one should be fine. In reality they all just turn on that one fish , if I can some how find the guy that made mine. I'll gladly send you one. Tho I deal with tanks 20 gal and under so I'll make sure it's bigger. If I can find one that is. Respect is owed to you. as you show your failings and I really respect that man. Not every day is a nice day on the reef. I'm glad you show the good and the bad.
The tank is looking very good. The fish look really good. I have said it before and I'll say it again. You have one of the best looking pair of clown fish.
Thank you Arrick, those clowns are my babies! =) I think they're around 5 or 6 years old now?
Nice hair cut!
"I like small fish and I cannot lie"
Sir Mixalot: "Say WHAT?!"
I was thinking the same thing
Great video as always. Nice zoa garden/ archway coming on there 😃
I just picked up a carpenter flasher wrasse last week. Awesome little fish!
You have such a beautiful family 👪 😊❤ God bless , I remember when my son was that age 🥺 I hope to see you guys this summer at reefpolaza!
The flasher wrasse looks awesome!!
Looks awsome , going to look amazing really grown out
Love ❤️ your tank and my favorite fish is the babbling Leon fish 🐠 he’s the cutest by far! Also love your new haircut
Also if you kind of pinch the stem with the point of the bone cutters it’ll separate from the plug like 85 percent easier than sliding the whole thing in !! Great vid
So use the tip of the cutter and aim it at around middle of the stem? Thanks for the tip, I will give this a try!
Great vid as usual mate. Your little boy is so cute!!! 🙂
Hi! Tank looking great! I use Percnon Gibessi for bubble algea. Beautiful crab and do the job really good here.
really nice family. Love it.
i love your tank i finally got some frogspawn in michigan
The baby is so cute 🥰
You forget about the travel portal that forms in a good tank. Critters can disappear for a long time 😆
Hahaha it'd be awesome if all the tanks are linked together via some sort of portal... always new fish visiting!
i loved my mccoskers wrasse.
Love your tank bro..
I knew he would drop the camera (at the end) 🤣🤣
😢
Nice thanks for showing your tank again🙃

Lovely wrasse, think u should get a chalk goby or something similar , great to watch them sieving the sandbed

You should try using an isolation box to acclimate a new fish in the tank.
Great ending aswell

Bruh...fresh cut!
What kind of fish (goby?) is hanging out at the first wrasse hiding spot? Looks nice!
Pretty sure it’s a hi fin red banded goby. Assuming you’re talking about the trio.
Yes sir, Hi-fin Gobies!
Biutiful zoa
Where do you buy your gorgonians?
live-plants.com
You're looking like a young Jackie Chan with that long hair lol
hey reefer any coral glue suggested to buy?

You should add a ORA neon or orchid Dottyback..they can defend themselves against that male Anthias

I think you are right, McCosker's have single filament coming out of the top fin, vs. Carpenters may have multiple. Let me double check...!
I just put one in my tank today and I thought the same exact thing but my powder brown is the one harassing it and not my Anthias. Go figure 🤷🏾♂️
What lights do you run on your tank?
You should have a lid. When you keep wrasses especially a lid is a must.
Yes sir, have lid just happened to have it off to when filming 👍
Try Continuum Equation M, I’ve used it on my tank to kill bubble algae heaps of times. It literally takes about 2 weeks and has never caused me problems nor others I’ve heard using it

@@InappropriateReefer Possibly it isn’t available in the US, but definitely look into it!
It’s commonly available here in Australua
Anyone know of an online retailer to get pygmy or possum wrasse from?
Have you looked at Live Aquaria?
Live aquaria but they only show up on divers den so you have to be actively looking and lucky.
What happen to the Euphyllia garden? All I see is the one frogspawn
