    What a great video. Thank you. So we use an L-20 Mixers, same board just more inputs. One thing is we used the 17/18 to add our keyboard, however we cannot adjust the gain on those. Is there a trick to make this better? Or should we waste a track say 15 and 16 and separate the keyboard and pan left and right? Or would you recommend just bringing a mono sound in and use one track like all the other instruments? Thanks for any insight

    • @sugarcanerush
      @sugarcanerush  5 місяців тому

      Michael, the stereo channels that have the two inputs, work well for keys, synth and any stereo instrument. What I do is have the musicial play and control the input from their instrument's master volume. Monitor the LEDs coming in and get the best level possible. That should work. It's how I have recorded keyboards many times.
      If you have enough channels and want more control, it's ok to use two of the mic/line imputs and control with the gain know. Just remember to pan one to the left and the other to the right when mixing. For recording it won't matter.
      I hope this helps.
      Check out our latest video on raising the volume of our mixes. Just posted tonight!
      Thanks for listening!

    Wow without doubt the best tutorial ever explaining a mixing desk, even down to explaining sweepable mid frequencys, it's actually the fist time ever in all the years in music I can actually understand how these work,
    anyway I'm contemplating buying either this or the L20 zoom desk at the moment,
    I had bought and used the presonus ar16c desk and returned it even though its excellent at recording, but for live use it drove me simple trying to get a good sound from it and it's effects were very poor really,
    looking at your videos here on the Zoom, I would love to know how you rate its effects, I see it has 2 plate only but 4 vocal effects, truth be told all I want is a lush reverb with a little delay suited to singing live, and the fact you can adjust parameter of time and delay is a plus here, but how good are the effects on this desk, also I have seen a video on this desk where it was said that when recording anything below the select button do not get recorded, so in other words if I were to record my live show on a night, I will only get a flat recording with no effects on the SD card,
    I'll look at your tutorials again here just in case I actually missed out on something, but really have to applaud you for taking time to do this excellent demonstration, if this desk is well suited to live use and will record what I hear through my front of house speakers including my vocal effect, then I will definitely purchase but go for the zoom L20, await your reply and thanks...

      Thank you for your kind words! I am trying to get into as much detail as possible and I am aiming at the less experienced user. I think that this board is perfect for PA, stand alone recorder and Audio interface. It has a lot of features to cover and I'm hoping to get to most. As far as the effect section, I think in this budget you are not going to get much better effects. It has a good variety and for instance the Hall reverb sound real good to me. You are not going to be able to use reverb and delay together. It only allows one effect at a time. But I think you would be happy with the existing effects. As far as recording the on board effects, You are right, all recordings are flat and do not record the effects. But if you record your band live, you have the chance later to make a mix on the board and record to the "master" channel in stereo and it will record the on board effects. So you will end up with a Masteer stereo track of your mix that will include effects and eq. I prefer to move all the tracks to a DAW on the computer and add eq and effects on the mix there. But it can be done recording directly to the Master track.

      Here is an update.. the Vocal 2 and Vocal 4 have reverb and delay combined. To me they sound pretty damn good. Had never tried them before.

    Is it possible to capture effects and faders via USB (Audio Interface mode) on your PC? Because on Windows, I only have a flat microphone sound.

    • @sugarcanerush
      @sugarcanerush  Рік тому

      This board records before the effect and EQ chain. But if you need to record a track with the on board effects, you can do so by recording from the Master input. Select on your DAW the "Driver Master" input and it will record with the effects. If you have tracks already recorded on board, you can play the tracks and record a mix using the Master imput. It will include the effects.

    Hello Family! for some reason I'm getting a error that says driver won't initialize. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the l12 driver but nothing. Im trying to sync with my MPC and reason software.

    • @sugarcanerush
      @sugarcanerush  Рік тому

      I am not familiar with the MPC units. I imagine the driver that is giving you problem is the MPC driver? You say you uninstalled and reinstalled the driver, you mean the MPC driver or the Zoom driver? Are you on Windows 11? I'll keep looking to see if I can help you.

    • @Chad.Flenderman
      @Chad.Flenderman Рік тому

      i mean on my computer. the computer recognizes it but when I try to load it into my MPC beats software or my Reason 11 daw it says "cant initizize driver". I've also tried to plug the zoom directly into the MPC, I'm able to get sound out of usb 1-2 or 3-4 but I can't get it to split tracks across the board, even after changing the outputs on the MPC.
      Thanks again for your feedback.

    So my audio only comes out of channel 1-2 and nothing from other channel inputs. Is my new Zoom L12 broken?

    • @sugarcanerush
      @sugarcanerush  2 роки тому

      Not sure what you mean that your audio only comes out of channel 1-2. Are you using the board as an Audio Interface with your computer? Are you running the board as stand alone? I need to know how you have your board set up to be able to help with this. The audio outs are in the Master out section or Monitor out.

    • @JP-rf7px
      @JP-rf7px 10 місяців тому

      If you get low output, you may have the plugs wired wrong. The monitor outputs are set up for phones, with tip and ring both separate hot signals, not balanced out. So to get a line level signal use a stereo plug but hook hot to tip and ground to sleeve and leave ring unconnected.
      I am using the unit as a 4 channel recorder to archive my collection of quad SQ, QS, and CD-4 lps. Each input and monitor channel is used for one of the 4 channels from my quad decoder. The mixer monitor outs drive the "discreet analog surround inputs on my Marantz receiver with plenty of volume. My only beef is the inability to label tracks with names more easily.

  • @عبدالجاكولالصلصالاني

    one question..does anyone here knows if the on board effects can be heard while livestreaming on facebook/youtube or even when just recording in a DAW?

    • @sugarcanerush

      Thanks for listening! Haven't done livestreaming, but if you are sending the master mix to your livestream, you should be able to hear the effects. Let me know if this helps.
