I like how in the anime, Spirit of the Pharaoh was used by an ancient pharaoh whose subjects always let him win, so the fact that his monster is terrible was actually pretty fitting.
….because the his monster was always coming up against dudes who would ‘take a dive’, leading to him either ‘going soft’ or over-estimating his prowess. Like when Balboa came up against Clubber Lang the first time…. Do the other monsters make lewd inferences about bedding the Pharoahs monsters wife and making a women out of her?
Fun fact about Spirit of the Pharaoh, the characters in the anime even admit that it was incredibly bad. The episode its in Jaden duels against the spirit of a deceased pharaoh who claims he was one of the best duelists of his time but as the duel goes on Jaden and the gang start noticing that hey, this kid sucks and his cards are terrible. Its then revealed that all of the Pharaoh's servants let him win because they were afraid of beating him and incurring his wrath.
And to add a bit more details when jaden attacked him with avian ( i think it was avian ) the worst pharo ever said that "how could you attack me ? That's impossible !! " or something along those lines
So basically... Red Eyes Darkness Dragon is just a worst version of Blue Eyes Shining Dragon. Something tells me that Kaiba was behind its creation in some way.
Bruh blues shining dragon is a good boss card can negate effects that target it including spells traps that target it ( may be wrong on spell and traps ) I have blue eyes shining dragon in my priest of blue eyes deck and works well very easy to bring out ( unless you don't have priest with blue eyes , protector with blue eyes monk of blue eyes, sage of blue eyes then good luck cuz all those cards bring out blue eyes dragons or better ) the only thing that sucks is getting rid of blue eyes ultimate dragon but it gains 300 atk for every dragon in your grave yard so there's 3 blue eyes and a ultimate in your grave yard for set up so that is 1200 already not to mention other dragons in your grave plus again great effect can quick play negect the effect of cards that target blue eyes shining so by no means does red eyes darkness even is able to compare to blue eyes shining you just need the actual proper deck for it blue eyes shining has it's own deck the priest of blue eyes deck but ppl are dumb and think oh I'll just make a dragon deck add all the blue eyes and summon it no you will lose 9 outta 10 I use the actual deck with my friend who has the legendary samuari deck and where damn near even on it lol
Honestly, REDD is actually more practical to bring out than BESD. REDD at the very least only needs two cards to bring it out (and funny enough, at least twice or thrice I've managed to bring out REDD on the first turn in a deck that's kind of a mix of Red-Eyes and Blue Eyes) whereas BESD needs at the very least five cards to be summoned, one of which being a fusion monster released after the card in real-life. Not to mention, REDD will almost always be guaranteed to be stronger than what brought it out (barring Skill Drain and other such effects going off) even if summoned on the first turn whereas even if you're lucky enough to bring out BESD on the first turn it's going to be certifiably weaker (having only 4200 ATK if miraculously summoned on the first turn), especially in the presence of Skill Drain.
Actually this guy is not as smart as he thinks he is. special summon Red Eyes Darkness Dragon and Darkest Diabolos Lord Of The Lair comes flying to the field from your hand or graveyard next to him. Also Ahrima The Wicked Warden can search him out also not just Black Metal Dragon
When i was really little in late elementary school, early middle school there was a pervasive rumor going around my school that some cards had "hidden abilities" and they said that gate guardian retained all the abilities of its individual pieces. I think we just didnt want to admit the card was aweful and wanted it to function like the anime version.
@Remi Russell I mean the special Versions were designed that way, atleast i'm very sure since they aren't allowed to be used in Duels besides having no actual Effects written on them and being the first renditions of the God Cards to come out (if i remember correctly). So it's pretty much just those specific Versions that you can get out of the very first Legendary Collection that basically work the way they do in the Anime since afterwards they printed Legal Versions of each God Card which had actual Effects written but it seems that they weren't sure whether to make them Strong or bad and they decided to take the safe approach and make them mediocre at best i guess.
Cards that were awesome in the anime, yet reduced to jokes in the actual cardgame. At least having 4000 Attack & Defense Obelisk is still powerful if you can find an easy way to summon it to the field. Slifer's massive attack combo was banned in the actual cardgame because you aren't allowed to draw cards except when it's your actual drawphase. Slifer if given enough time such as with "Infinite Cards" could still be extremely powerful at least. The God Card who was ruined by the cardgame itself was Ra, to the point the card is essentially worthless to summon. If Ra had it's basic Attack & Defense (combined total of the respective Attack & Defense of the 3 monsters used to summon it) we would probably be using 3 Blue Eyes White Dragons to summon it so it could have 9,000 Attack/7,500 Defense. A lot of the cards on this list were good in the anime, although ruined by the cardgame with Gate Guardian, Divine Neos, Neos Wiseman, & Machina Force being 4 such examples.
@@bookmew1081 wait what do you mean you aren’t allowed to draw except when it’s your drawphase? There are shitloads of card effects that let you draw outside your draw phase
@@failure4452 All those card effects end up getting banned because the game doesn't want you to have cards in your hand. How many Pot of Greeds have been banned? The moment a way to draw cards in Yugioh becomes well known it gets banned.
How dare you even mention perfectly ultimate great moth in this list. Everyone knows perfectly ultimate great moth is one of the most powerful monsters in duel monsters, even the anime said so
It's actually an incredible card back in the really, really old YuGiOh games, but most of those don't even have a tribute summoning mechanic or many effect monsters, so...
Even i can imagine an old card beating it. Turn 1: i set monster Turn 2: opponent summon armed dragon lv 3, use lv up spell card and sp summon lv 5, then use lv up spell card to sp summon lv 7, then sp summon lv 10 from opponents hand. Cannot use its effect on a face down monster. Proceed to battle phase. Attack my set monster, turns out to be man-eater bug. Destroy lv 10 armed dragon. 😅😂😂
I have no idea what I’m doing here. I have no idea how I got here. I don’t even play the yugioh tcg. Never watched the anime either. Still enjoyed the video though. I feel like I learned something.
@@rebellionty youtube special effect activates: "Recommended videos", which in turn chains with another effect : "Up next" That's how you ended up here
TheDuelLogs : Haha, it’s cos I activated my trap card, good yugioh content. With this trap effect now you have to binge watch all my videos like other players.
I remember seeing Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon for the first time in a card shop window when I was a kid. My mom bought it for me after i begged her to, and I still run it in my Red-Eyes deck today.
Im imagine something like this: Turn 20 (imposible this days) , both with low HP, the oponent whith his Boss monster in field and you with a smol Red eyes B. chick on field and a Red eyes black dragon as only card in hand... Then draw, yo saw Red Eyes Darkness dragon as your draw "Thanks mom... You gave me the victory" Summon Black dragon and then Darkness dragon, he wins tons of Atk by the stablished GY, one shots the enemy card an then you win the duel. This is by far imposible, I know, but... It would be very epic.
Fun Fact: Spirit of the Pharaoh's shittiness is actually canonically acknowledged in the anime, as it's played by a young pharaoh who is an absolutely terrible duelist, but his servants would always let him win. So the card was likely bad on purpose.
wow if the anime says its bad.. then you know how bad it is lmao!! poor him... I mean ultimate great moth is trash and now look at it because it gets a good spell card.... now if only spirit of the pharaoh gets some love too that would be great
At the time people hated Fusions, because it was basically a -3 (poly, Plus two materials) at least and the fusions arent that good to start with. GX going heavy for fusions (with E-HEROs, Roids, Cybers, Ojamas and VWXYZ) was a effort to make people like the mechanic, with one or two sucesses with Power Bond and Miracle Fusion. But it was looked down as a gimmicky of HEROs and Cyber (much like tribute Simmons for the monarchs nowadays) and less as anything viable. So that's why a lot of fusions from DM and GX anime / manga era where made Effect Monsters because the meta at the time favored main deck monsters (Dark Armed Dragon, Monarchs, Gadgets...). Its a problem of changing the meta arouns the 5D's and Arc-V (also the end of GX manga, where the Generic Atribute Fusions and cards like Ocean, Forest and Stratus came out) eras that made all of those cards obsolete.
We honestly need a re-train of Gate guardian and the pieces as well as search cards/special summon cards/etc. It works with pendulums, but it would be nice to have an archetype based off of the strategy.
No joke I really believe Konami will do tha some day since the charas from the original series are getting their neq upgraded card versiona like bandith keith, weevil, mako, pegasus and so on. And Paradox are still left so I woulf sad there is really a chance they get their new versions.
BLS 1994 Gate Guardian should of kept the abilities plus more like when it attacks your atk becomes zero or when this card is destroyed special summon one of it's pieces
Since Konami seems to enjoy doing this, it would be hilarious if they do a retrain of Gate Guardian and then make an archetype out of it with some support cards
Corey Ciepiela I can definitely see it happening at some point. I mean as mentioned in this video, the Great Moth line of all things got support. I think anything is possible at this point.
Funny coincidence. Friend and I were discussing ideas for that very concept. We made an "errata" to the 3 pieces, changing their names to more match their original names "[Element] Deity - {Name}" So we had, "Thunder Deity - Sanga," "Wind Deity - Kazejin," and "Water Deity - Suijin." (I know the latter two names are technically redundant, but we decided to retain the TCG names) as well as a new Gate Guardian, who is a Contact Fusion of "3 level 7 Deity monsters"
All of the Paradox Brother's cards got horribly mistreated. Another example is Wall Shadow, why the fuck isn't it a fusion monster, and why can it only be summoned from the deck? If you draw it, you can't play it unless you have a way of putting it back in your deck. At least with Wall Shadow and Gate Guardian being warriors, you can use warrior only equip cards on them like Magnum Shield and Noble Arms of Destiny, which combo wonderfully with either of them.
@@KelltheTitan honestly wall shadow wouldn’t be that bad if it could be cheated out of your hand or deck but you could summon it easier by tributing a labyrinth wall.
I know it might be a mediocre beat stick, but I love Red Eyes Darkness Dragon. Though most of that admittedly is because it was my favorite looking card as a kid. Still, I love trying to make it a giant bear stick with lots of dragons in the graveyard and have other affects to protect it like Red Eyes Impact Dragon
That Red Eyes is easier to summon than Blue Eyes Shining Dragon. Plus, both cards share the effect of increasing their ATK per each dragon in your graveyard.
If you want minor protection and better beat sticking give it an equip card called power of the guardians shits lit if you arent up against hyper meta negate and field wipe decks
Gate Guardian was so bad, he could not attack any of his pieces that created him because their effects were stronger then him haha. I remember in the old days of ygo I would use Gate Guardian as fusion material for UFOroid Fighter. Fuse him with UFOroid using Power Bond
The thing I HATE THE MOST for every boss monster is the "cannot be special summoned by other ways" that's the worst! Okay, even if its so hard to summon but then you summon it and it gets destroyed and its done. Just adding one fucking word would make any boss monster so much better. FIRST. That's the word because like it first must be special summoned by this condition would be acceptable because then even if it gets destroyed you can then special summon it from the grave but NOOO they had make it only a certain way.
that's Fair if they just really POWERFULL, it's sad but it's like all what players want nowadays is cheapness and not good ol thinking in strategies to win, they can also be used in many other ways, not just summon
Imagine in the future they have cards that say... "This card cannot be special summoned. This card can not be summoned by cards that say, "Special summon that monster ignoring it's summoning condition"." And then they have one that says, "Special summon a monster ignoring it's summoning condition and ignoring what it says about, "This card can not be special summoned by a card that says, "Ignoring it's summoning condition." " " 🤤
I think Spirit of the Pharaoh would've been better if it could special summon as many Zombie-Type monsters from the graveyard for free, ignoring their summoning condition.
yeah maybe or if they simply gave it other effects such as when it destroys a monster by battle and sends it to the graveyard you can inflict damage to your opponent equal to half that monsters original atk it can't be destroyed by card effect and if it leaves the field because of battle or card effect you can special summon up to 4 level 4 or lower zombie type monsters from your hand deck or gy. still wouldn't be great but at least it would be tolerable since you would have a half decent beat-stick that floats into some link or xyz monsters. neo's wise man could of been good to if it was a fusion monster.
I think that would kinda ruin its austhetic, the point is that it summons its servants to help him so personally if I change him I'd have him also bring them from the deck so that you at leash always get 4 and maybe have him gain the combined atk points of all level 2 or lower zombie normal monsters on the field and maybe then once per turn he can tribute 1 of them to destroy all cards in the selected column that the opponent controls. I'd say that's a reasonable retrain
who said it ignored summoning conditions? it would still suck cause of it's shitty summoning condition so effects as good as that would be good because that way people would actually make decks around it. there should be an archetype around it.
I ran a Gate Guardian deck for a very long time before I realized "Sanga of the Thunder" was good enough to base an entire deck around. A light/thunder deck was unusual back then, but it certainly worked! Not a lot of people knew what to make of a two-tribute face-down card.
I did similar back in the day but with Suijin and a water deck. By using A Legendary Ocean, Suijin became a level 6 monster I could summon with one tribute instead of 2.
Red Eyes Darkness Dragon was my favorite card and helped me win plenty of duels, of course this was before everyone had a deck that could destroy everything
You forgot one boss monster The one that rules them all... The one that manipulates everything in the shadow... The one that may even takes your form right now... *Shapesnatch*
I can kind of understand it, since a few monsters have anime effects that would more than likely make them a bit unbalanced in the actual game. That said, yeah for the most part they seem to make monsters that become unviable when they add them to the actual game.
Was giving Ra the combined Attack & Defense of the monsters used to summon it really asking too much? I know that all the Blue Eyes White Dragon support would let you get strong Ra out easier, although Ra was supposed to be the strongest of the 3 Egyptian God Cards not the weakest of them. How was Seal of Oricalcos Ruined by the cardgame? Konami makes really dumb decisions when it comes to Yugioh. Refusing to give us a female Main Protagonist for a Yugioh Anime & intentionally screwing over Yuzu after Season 1 when she was the closest we ever got to that. Requiring the drastic rule changes of Zexal to be obeyed in regions that weren't even allowed to watch Zexal legally. Taking an absurdly long time to release awesome cards from the anime like Seal of Oricalcos. Ruining good cards from the anime, when they wouldn't have been overpowered even if they got their anime effects. Intentionally stacking the Metagame by banning useful well known cards like Monster Reborn, Pot of Greed, SuperPolymerization, & others.
Rainbow Neos Turbo looks like it could be interesting, and it's made up of a shitty boss monster and the shitiest ace monster. but both are easily searchable, been thinking of using dark Rainbow dragon, the new dark pend Crystal beast support card and the predaplant engine and allure, but the deck requires you to run some crappy light monsters. could be interesting. if anyone has any ideas for this please let me know.
Rainbow Neos actually requires Neos and an Ultimate Crystal monster. You use Keeper of Dragonic Magic to search Fusion Tag to change a card's name to Rainbow Overdragon, who is an Ultimate Crystal monster
Damn dude this is one of the best series ever, I love them so much, it's so freaking interesting, some random day I smoked a joint and thought it would be so interesting if there existed a video about the worst yugioh monsters, cause they are a lot, and thank God someone does such kind of videos. Big love man
I have a question: Helios's effect only says "destroyed". I haven't played YGO in ages, so...does "destroyed" imply that: a) It has to be destroyed by battle and not by card effects? b) It has to be sent to the graveyard for its destruction effect to trigger?
Honestly, I think it was just him being an idiot. Its effect is if it is destroyed by any means. Honestly, it's not even a graveyard effect from what i can tell as it doesn't even state where it would be special summoned from. It is suprisingly a decent floating effect.
@@exiel2740 Actually, how he described it in the video is correct, he just showed the anime effect on the screen instead of the TCG effect. The TCG effect is as follows: You can Special Summon this card by Tributing 1 "Helios Duo Megistus". This card's ATK and DEF are each equal to the number of removed from play monsters x 300. After this card attacks, it can attack once more if your opponent controls a monster. If this card is destroyed by battle and sent to the Graveyard, Special Summon it during the End Phase and it gains 500 ATK and DEF. So yeah, it's pretty terrible
I love how Machina Force is a boss monster in a structure deck and the instructions of the deck don't even tell you it's something you want to bring out
Helios Trice Megistus in the anime revived itself whenever it was destroyed, even if it was banished, and the destruction could be by bttle or card effect.
+leafbladie WOW! That nerf is about as bad as the Aesir monsters requiring a tuner to be banished to revive themselves when in the anime they could be revived for free.
@@AYOOMAA1234 You are. He's actually mentioning the TCG effect, but using the image of the anime card. That' ahppens. Hell, he explains the effect of Anime Neos, the card he shows is an alternate art version of the TCG card with the TCG effect.
pre-synchro yugioh was the peak for me after that it just kept getting too fast and just about timing, tehcnicalities, and having massive combo effects rather than long game. Duels end too fast now and there's not the same spirit to the game anymore as it did when it started
Darkness Dragon is useful in my RE deck because the strongest monster in that deck is 3500 ATK. Some monsters have effects which makes it so that the only possible way of removing it is destroying it. This card could be helpful in some situations. Though I agree it's mostly useless.
Cody Franczak well GX was the time Konami started the “everyone needs a bossmonster”-trope, however didn’t really thought about how to make them right in normal duels
thank you for mentioning wiseman. been trying many strategies and have to say that he needs to be a fusion monster in order to actually be useful and not ruin the deck
My guess on what card would of been first place; I was thinking "Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon" because of its in game and real life facts. BESD couldnt be summoned because there wasn't "Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon" in the game card yet. BEUD didnt get printed for, I think, for another two years.
@@adamrushing5801 When BESD was released Ultimate was not released yet until about a year or so later. So, BESD was unplayable not to mention it's really hard summoning requirement. I think if BESD had the same summoning requirement as Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon, it would see play. BESD does have some protection unlike REDD.
I actually didn't think that Helios was that bad. I always saw the graveyard effect as a neat backup. Realistically, the first thing anyone would be trying to do would be getting rid of the trap banishing all the cards. If the trap goes away, Helios Trice still has a means of getting stronger. Am I the only one thinks like this? Probably, but I have a right to my opinion!
The funniest thing about Spirit of the Pharaoh is that not only is the card bad, but the guy who used it as his signature monster literally only won duels with it because he only played with his servants who threw their matches so as not to bruise his ego.
Funnily enough I managed to beat one of the Yugioh video games where you had to battle the 3 meklord characters in a row because I was down to the last card in my deck and managed to summon Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon and it had like 7000 attack or something 😂
Here from 2023, good thing Konami knows Neos Wiseman was wack so they made Neos Kluger with a slightly better effect, and also allows to special summon wiseman after it leaves the field
JackOfen that's just the version he put up on the screen. If you Google the card you'll see that it's effect is activated during the end phase of the turn it was destroyed and sent to the graveyard
He must of used an outdated image the current errata says destroyed by battle and sent to grave for a 500 atk boost on resurrection during the endphase. According to the Yu-Gi-Oh database.
this is a late reply, but trice megistus has never been errata'd. It only ever got released once in 2008 The card on the screen is an image with the anime version's effect, which is better (but still not THAT good tbh)
1 small point against machina force is that you said it can bring back the 4 monsters used to bring it out. Actually it only brings back 3/4. It will not bring back commander Covington whose effect is used to summon him in the first place making that effect a bit worse.
Except you don't even sacrifice Commander Covington to special summon Machina Force. Commander Covington just orders them to fuse and they fuse. Simple as that.

It's sad that Astro Mekanikle got in that list. I used to love using this card back in the day, since i used to run a Meklord theme deck. I never liked to follow the meta of the game, always tried to use my cretivity with decks.
Yeah Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon is kind of a useless addition to the Red-Eyes Archetype at this point, but I still like it for a number of reasons. 1. It was Atticus Rhodes' ace monster, or more accurately it was Nightshroud’s ace monster, and Nightshroud is freaking awesome. 2. It's an upgraded version of my favorite Yu-Gi-Oh! Card, Red-Eyes B. Dragon, and I like that it serves as a Red-Eyes counterpart to Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon, having the same ATK and DEF as the original Dragon of their respective archetypes, being 2 levels higher than those original dragons, and sharing similar naming schemes and both having the effect of gaining 300 ATK for each Dragon in your grave. 3. It also led to us getting Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon, which is a really good card for any dragon deck (even though I don't really like REDMD's artwork)
One of the things I like in Yugioh! cards are the artworks (also some cards having that ancient egyptian-like theme). About Spirit of the Pharoah, I would like a updated version and would like to see more cards with ancient egyptian-like theme. I know Gravekeepers, but, it shouldn't be the most representative.
Gate Guardian support is all I ask for...like this! Labyrinth Maze Field Spell This card cannot be targeted by your opponent's card effects. Any monsters summoned have their effects negated until the end of the turn, and are placed in the next empty monster Zone closest to their owner's Field Spell Zone, and can only attack monsters in the same column. Both players can only use each of the following effects of "Labyrinth Maze" once per turn: ●Move 1 monster you control to an adjacent Monster Zone, then, if your opponent controls more monsters than you, you can move 1 monster you control to an additional adjacent Monster Zone. ●Discard 1 card; add 1 level 7 Monster from your deck or GY to your hand, and if you do, you can Special Summon "Labyrinth Tank" from your Extra Deck, and/or add 1 "Labyrinth" card from your Deck to your hand. Hidden Powers of the Labyrinth Continuous Trap You can only control 1 "Gate Guardian". When an attack is declared, or a card effect is activated while you control "Gate Guardian", you can discard "Sanga of the Thunder", "Suijin", or "Kazejin", to negate that attack or effect. Once per turn, you can reveal "Sanga of the Thunder", "Suijin", and "Kazejin" to Special Summon "Gate Guardian" from your hand, deck, or GY, ignoring summoning conditions, and if you do, it is unaffected by your opponent's card effects and cannot be tributed (even if this card leaves the field.) Once per turn, if a face-up "Labyrinth" card would be destroyed by your opponent's card effect, you can add 1 "Sanga of the Thunder", "Suijin", "Kazejin" or "Riyoku" from your Deck to your hand instead. Dungeon Trap in the Labyrinth Normal Trap Activate as many effects as possible up to the number of other face-up "Labyrinth" cards on the field: ●Special Summon 1 "Monster Tamer" from your hand, Deck, or GY, then take control of 1 monster your opponent controls until "Monster Tamer" leaves the field. ●Send 1 "Dungeon Worm" from your hand or Deck to the GY and Banish 1 monster on the field. ●Banish 1 "Jirai Gumo" from your Deck or GY and Destroy 1 monster on the field and inflict damage to your opponent equal to it's ATK. If a monster(s) on your opponent's side of the field moves to a different monster zone, except the turn you activated this card: you can add this card from your GY to your hand. You can only activate 1 "Dungeon Trap in the Labyrinth" per turn. Magical Labyrinth: Wall Shadow Quick Play Spell Rearrange your opponent's monsters in their monster zones as you see fit, then, if you control a "Labyrinth" card, Special Summon 1 "Wall Shadow" from your Hand or Deck, ignoring summoning conditions, also, it cannot be destroyed by battle, and any monster that battles it is sent to the GY after Damage Calculation. You can banish this card from your GY to move "Wall Shadow" to any unoccupied monster Zone on your side of the field. You can only use each effect of "Magical Labyrinth: Wall Shadow" once per turn. Sounds like fun, no?
I know this comment is two years old but that sounds like such a fun deck to play, super annoying for your opponent because of the level of board control it has
Rule of Yu-Gi-Oh. Basically any card that came out in older booster packs, and we're only decent for x number of years before new Yu-Gi-Oh killed any variety.
@@user-bj5ki6sr6c unfortunately at least back then engine cards needed setup, modern Yugioh Is like playing Solitaire that often is storyed by hand traps.
I'd add Red-Eyes Black Metal Dragon and Metal Zoa. Both are just beatsticks that require you to tribute a lvl 7 or higher monster with a specific trap card equip to them, a trap card that makes the cards better than their upgraded versions, as Metalmorph increases the equipped monster's attack by half the opponents when it initials a battle on top of a flat 300 increase. The 2 monsters I just mentioned don't have effects except their summoning requirements. Thankfully, both are summoned from the deck, but if you draw one, it's a giant Garnet in your hand, as they can only be special summoned from the deck. Also, they are both machine monsters, so they don't gain any benefits from their non-metal versions' monster type specific support cards. Thankfully, they've both been errataed to say "Must first be special summoned from the deck", so you can special summon them in other ways after.
I've always loved Gate Guardian. He always had an amazing design. I wish he would get a retrain. However, in heroclix, Gate Guardian is a STUPIDLY powerful one man army, with a myriad of the best powers and abilities
Hey I loved my Red Eyes Darkness Dragon! I used it in my dragon deck... when dragons collide came out... most fun I had. Till I switched over to full Chaos Dragons. But too poor to afford dragon rulers at the time. No Thienen the Great Sphinx.. hi summoning conditions are terrible, and requires a lot of setup to do anything.
I totally hear (and agree) with what you’re saying about gate guardian but my god does that card still hold a special place in my heart, the nostalgia man
Elemental Hero Neos Kluger has practically the same burn effect and is a fusion card that can be fusion summoned with neos fusion. Also on destruction effect it allows for summoning of neos wiseman directly from hand or deck. Which also makes it counter super poly.
Personally, Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon should have get the spot of Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon... As he's harder to summon with the exact same effect (+ a Targeting protection). Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon is still a good power card for Red-Eyes in the middle/end of the duel to get the finishing blow. And its synergy with the Lair of Darkness (and Red-Eyes archetype synergy with the Viruses) cards (Ahrima searches it and Diabolos can ss itself thanks to Darkness Dragon tributing as cost a DARK Monster. Duke Shade can also recovers it), makes it easy to build a decent deck centered around Darkness Dragon that can do stuff (and be horrible to face). Blue-Eyes Shining however... Even he (she ?) is searchable by Melody of the Awakening Dragon, Bingo Machine GO! GO! and Priestress with Eyes of Blue (who will using it anyway ?), you need to run Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon in the Extra Deck. You need to put more efforts in the summon of BESD than REDD for having the same monster.
Hi I don't play or know any of the rules in Yu-Gi-Oh, nor am I remotely interested in playing in the future, but I genuinely enjoy your content. Looking forward to what else you got in store :)
My idea closer to the anime version. The only difference is the classification to an Elemental HERO and the generic material, (since the original uses "Yubel" monsters). The Elemental HERO classification lets the card make use of both Elemental HERO and Neos supports freely. Also the generic material makes it easier to use in hybrid decks, like a "Dark Magician" hybrid (Yugi+Jaden). Elemental HERO Neos Wiseman Level 10 LIGHT Fusion/Spellcaster/Effect ATK 3000 / DEF 3000 "Elemental HERO Neos" +1 Level 7 or more DARK Spellcaster monster Must be Fusion Summoned and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. Cannot be destroyed by card effects. When this card destroys an opponent's monster by battle: Inflict damage to your opponent equal to that monster's original ATK and gain LP equal to that monster's DEF. When this card leaves the field, you can Special Summon 1 "Elemental HERO Neos" from your Deck.
couple things about helios trice. 1- its when its destroyed in general 2- you could run it in a deck that banishes only monsters- like dark worlds ( with their field spell), or banifish. 3- you can cheat this into play with certain cards from the fire king arhcetype as it doesnt state it has to be destroyed on the field.
You know, if they do a retrain of Gate Guardian, they should make it a Rank7 XYZ Monster where it can only be summoned WITH the materials of normal Gate Guardian, but has to use it's xyz material to use the Effect of it's lower material, and it can only attack up to the number of XYZ material it has. Fusion wont work, but probably should have invented Contact Fusion in the first place. The worse part of Early Yugioh Monsters is that so long as you understand the concepts behind their powers and abilities, they're great monsters, but good luck explaining the concepts in an Effect so that Refs can make the same call every time.
Thats not really a boss monster and more of a variant to Red-eyes. Darkness Dragon was absolutely suppose to be a boss monster for the archetype it just failed at it for being so mediocre.
TheDuelLogs wait it failed O-O I used to get him over 4K and have a field full of dragons by like turn 5 and would trample people not to mention it just looked awesome
Personally I don't see Red-eyes Darkness as a Boss monster. It's an evolved Form of the Vanilla Red-Eyes, but is more of a variant that the pinacle of the archetype.
If you used "Shield & Sword" on "Valkyrion, The Magna Warrior", it's attack and defense will both be 100 points higher than "Gate Guardian".. And it's a LV 8 against LV 11 monster...
Ironic, #2's anime counterpart wasn't even used in the anime. Poor Abidos, if he were real, I would tell him not to look at this list due his ace appearing..... I wonder how many people even remember him.
With character "special abilities" in Yugioh duel links,. Gate Gaurdian ahs a somewhat viable play, but if your opponent has a trap card or any card to destroy it, then your entire plan is failed.
I would put Neos Wiseman on #10 on the list. Simply because of his effect of "cannot be destroyed by any card effect" and also with his both 3000 atk and def. With a dedicated deck, getting the requirements set on the field would be easy, and I'll just leave with the gold sarcophagus to search for the Neos Wiseman card. Unfortunately, even if you manage to successfully summon it on the field, it is still vulnerable to the other card effects (effect negating cards, return to the hand cards, change control cards, change position/display cards, etc.). But even so, I still think Neos Wiseman is the least terrible card compaired to the other cards on that list.
I would rather set mystic tomato and just let my opponent destroy it by battle on his turn (since your opponent would rather use and waste any monster destroying card, than to let mystic tomato's effect to be activated). I would rather use Prisma since it's really easy to search him.
Two things. One, from what I know about the game now, if you set a monster out on the field nowadays, your opponent is going to know something is up So they are more than likely going to look towards removing that thing with out battling, which brings us to point number two. Non destruction removal is apparently a big thing in the game. The instant someone sees Yubel they will do all they can to get that off the field, and with the abundance of cards out there specifically designed to do so, Yubel's battle protection will mean nothing, and even if they destroy it, now you have to get it back from the graveyard since you can't use the other forms. Honestly, this card would have been far better if it had remained a fusion summon like it was in the anime.
I totally agree with you. A Neos Wiseman deck will have no chance to win against nowadays deck. Even in the past that deck is only good as a gimmick deck. Any Boss cards of the past suffer greatly against todays competitive deck, that's why the only way we could see them today is in a gimmick deck, and even so only a handful of them are just decent enough to be included in a deck.
Worst Boss monsters be like: I have a super circumstantial condition to be summoned, my stats are garbage and I have a sign in my head who says: Destroy/banish/send me to the deck/hand
I like how in the anime, Spirit of the Pharaoh was used by an ancient pharaoh whose subjects always let him win, so the fact that his monster is terrible was actually pretty fitting.
It's also, for once, very deliberate.
@@zaknelthepony7124 I wouldn't say "for once" seeing as there are numerous cards created with the intention of it being a bad card.

So basically... Red Eyes Darkness Dragon is just a worst version of Blue Eyes Shining Dragon. Something tells me that Kaiba was behind its creation in some way.
Keegan Stormblade maybe as a jab to a certain character known for having it
Bruh blues shining dragon is a good boss card can negate effects that target it including spells traps that target it ( may be wrong on spell and traps ) I have blue eyes shining dragon in my priest of blue eyes deck and works well very easy to bring out ( unless you don't have priest with blue eyes , protector with blue eyes monk of blue eyes, sage of blue eyes then good luck cuz all those cards bring out blue eyes dragons or better ) the only thing that sucks is getting rid of blue eyes ultimate dragon but it gains 300 atk for every dragon in your grave yard so there's 3 blue eyes and a ultimate in your grave yard for set up so that is 1200 already not to mention other dragons in your grave plus again great effect can quick play negect the effect of cards that target blue eyes shining so by no means does red eyes darkness even is able to compare to blue eyes shining you just need the actual proper deck for it blue eyes shining has it's own deck the priest of blue eyes deck but ppl are dumb and think oh I'll just make a dragon deck add all the blue eyes and summon it no you will lose 9 outta 10 I use the actual deck with my friend who has the legendary samuari deck and where damn near even on it lol
I feel like it was the teen years of Red Eyes Alternative Black Dragon
Actually this guy is not as smart as he thinks he is. special summon Red Eyes Darkness Dragon and Darkest Diabolos Lord Of The Lair comes flying to the field from your hand or graveyard next to him. Also Ahrima The Wicked Warden can search him out also not just Black Metal Dragon
#1 was so terrible even the anime admitted it when they said they’d just let the pharaoh or whoever that kid was win
Well, yeah, the joke is that Abidos is a parody of Atem, only he's shit at the game.
MoronicChunk1 so are you telling me that you think the cards have hidden abilities like Pokemon?

@@jacklovejoy5290 Or rework be xyz

Konami doesn't care what ppl suggest, they don't accept it. I've tried.

No joke I really believe Konami will do tha some day since the charas from the original series are getting their neq upgraded card versiona like bandith keith, weevil, mako, pegasus and so on. And Paradox are still left so I woulf sad there is really a chance they get their new versions.

We made an "errata" to the 3 pieces, changing their names to more match their original names "[Element] Deity - {Name}"
So we had, "Thunder Deity - Sanga," "Wind Deity - Kazejin," and "Water Deity - Suijin."
(I know the latter two names are technically redundant, but we decided to retain the TCG names)
as well as a new Gate Guardian, who is a Contact Fusion of "3 level 7 Deity monsters"
They made a viable way of getting Perfectly Ultimate Great Moth onto the field quickly. I wouldn't be surprised if the Gate Guardian stuff got some.

It's best use is an equip card for zubaba general. But that still just gives you a monster with 5750 atk.

Though most of that admittedly is because it was my favorite looking card as a kid.

That Red Eyes is easier to summon than Blue Eyes Shining Dragon. Plus, both cards share the effect of increasing their ATK per each dragon in your graveyard.

I always thought it was dope that Gate Guardian was level 11. Only a few monsters have level 11
Supreme KING "Dpygo clip" "Facts"
that's Fair if they just really POWERFULL, it's sad but it's like all what players want nowadays is cheapness and not good ol thinking in strategies to win, they can also be used in many other ways, not just summon
VixXstazosJOB Wanna try and say that again in English, bud?
yeah then later on they just print new support for the cards that say "lol dw about the old summon condish, just summon it bro"
Imagine in the future they have cards that say... "This card cannot be special summoned. This card can not be summoned by cards that say, "Special summon that monster ignoring it's summoning condition"."
And then they have one that says, "Special summon a monster ignoring it's summoning condition and ignoring what it says about, "This card can not be special summoned by a card that says, "Ignoring it's summoning condition." " " 🤤
That would be broken if it ignored summoning requirements and wasnt locked to an archtype
or like... i unno- make theem 1850 level 4 monsters. lol
who said it ignored summoning conditions? it would still suck cause of it's shitty summoning condition so effects as good as that would be good because that way people would actually make decks around it. there should be an archetype around it.
Tbh Sanga of the Thunder was a pretty bad card back then too. It took until Light&Darkness Dragon for a two tribute monster to be actually good.
Gate Guardian now has support
I laughed so hard when you continuously emphasized "Level 2 Normal Monsters" about the Spirit of the Pharaoh's effect. lel
Red Eyes Darkness Dragon was my favorite card and helped me win plenty of duels, of course this was before everyone had a deck that could destroy everything

I guess so.
The game has become stupid enough that it wouldn't surprise me at all.

I am starting to see a pattern of Konami ruining anime cards when adapting them to the real life game.
I can kind of understand it, since a few monsters have anime effects that would more than likely make them a bit unbalanced in the actual game.
That said, yeah for the most part they seem to make monsters that become unviable when they add them to the actual game.
They improved Wicked Avatar from his comic counterpart.
Just look at the sacred seal of Orichalcos: Totally unplayable.
Funny thing about spirit of the pharaoh, in the anime they explicitly acknowledge the card is terrible. It was quite literally designed to be bad

I have a question: Helios's effect only says "destroyed". I haven't played YGO in ages, so...does "destroyed" imply that:
a) It has to be destroyed by battle and not by card effects?
b) It has to be sent to the graveyard for its destruction effect to trigger?
Honestly, I think it was just him being an idiot. Its effect is if it is destroyed by any means. Honestly, it's not even a graveyard effect from what i can tell as it doesn't even state where it would be special summoned from. It is suprisingly a decent floating effect.
@@exiel2740 Actually, how he described it in the video is correct, he just showed the anime effect on the screen instead of the TCG effect. The TCG effect is as follows:
You can Special Summon this card by Tributing 1 "Helios Duo Megistus".
That nerf is about as bad as the Aesir monsters requiring a tuner to be banished to revive themselves when in the anime they could be revived for free.
leafbladie would make the card balanced but not broken
I feel like this is the TCG effect as well, this video just isn't accurately presenting it. Am i wrong?
@@AYOOMAA1234 You are. He's actually mentioning the TCG effect, but using the image of the anime card. That' ahppens. Hell, he explains the effect of Anime Neos, the card he shows is an alternate art version of the TCG card with the TCG effect.
pre-synchro yugioh was the peak for me after that it just kept getting too fast and just about timing, tehcnicalities, and having massive combo effects rather than long game. Duels end too fast now and there's not the same spirit to the game anymore as it did when it started
"Synchro what??" "Synchro summon." "Synchro. Summon." "What summon??" "What what?" "Oh no, wait. I suddenly stopped caring."
I stopped even earlier as soon as I realized that the game has too many cards
Absolutely right
Yeah i loved being Yata'd to death
“Waaaah, new meta bad, old meta good, waaaah.”
Darkness Dragon is useful in my RE deck because the strongest monster in that deck is 3500 ATK. Some monsters have effects which makes it so that the only possible way of removing it is destroying it. This card could be helpful in some situations. Though I agree it's mostly useless.
See if it had some type of protection, then maybe it could contend with say, a raidraptor ultimate falcon?
I'm seeing alot of Gx monsters....
Cody Franczak well GX was the time Konami started the “everyone needs a bossmonster”-trope, however didn’t really thought about how to make them right in normal duels
thank you for mentioning wiseman. been trying many strategies and have to say that he needs to be a fusion monster in order to actually be useful and not ruin the deck
don't worry they made him playable now. nominally
My guess on what card would of been first place; I was thinking "Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon" because of its in game and real life facts. BESD couldnt be summoned because there wasn't "Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon" in the game card yet. BEUD didnt get printed for, I think, for another two years.
what?
@@adamrushing5801 When BESD was released Ultimate was not released yet until about a year or so later. So, BESD was unplayable not to mention it's really hard summoning requirement. I think if BESD had the same summoning requirement as Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon, it would see play. BESD does have some protection unlike REDD.
I had a blue-eyes deck, with the BESD, I almost did summon it once, but my opponent destroyed my blue-eyes ultimate dragon, sooo sad ;-;
Uh....as far as I recall Blue Eyes Ultimate was around for quite a while before Blue Eyes Shining was even shown.

Ngl I love the artwork of Helios and spirit of the pharaoh, too bad they're such bad cards 😂
When even the anime version of a card is as bad as it’s normal version, that’s when you *know* it’s bad.
Yugioh wc 2011 lol
i still love the Armed Dragon line, even if LV10 is a pain to bring out
Here from 2023, good thing Konami knows Neos Wiseman was wack so they made Neos Kluger with a slightly better effect, and also allows to special summon wiseman after it leaves the field
But Trice Megistus in the video doesn't even mention the graveyard. Just that if it's destroyed it comes back. And not just "destroyed by battle".
Erratas ruining the game like always. Like holy balls I know they'll errata cards to be shit but Trice Megistus doesn't even work anymore lol
Errata ruins every card game.
this is a late reply, but trice megistus has never been errata'd. It only ever got released once in 2008
The card on the screen is an image with the anime version's effect, which is better (but still not THAT good tbh)
Zubaba General + Gate Guardian = The best and easiest to pull of 5750 Atk Beatstick you'll ever get.
I fucking love how crisp and smooth YOUR voice in particular is. Helps me sleep and relax. I love these videos
the new fusion monster that brings out wiseman as his floating effect makes wiseman actually decent
1 small point against machina force is that you said it can bring back the 4 monsters used to bring it out. Actually it only brings back 3/4. It will not bring back commander Covington whose effect is used to summon him in the first place making that effect a bit worse.
oh, I did not know that.
Kite0404 yeah I always thought it was "Machiners Force", even said so on the text of their cards.
Steve Pelt
It always said "Machina"
@@YugiohMaster1987 That's because the Japanese name "Machiners Force".

Da_Swifta Nightshroud is literally just shadow the hedgehog is he was human. He was even voiced by the same actor as shadow.
One of the things I like in Yugioh! cards are the artworks (also some cards having that ancient egyptian-like theme). About Spirit of the Pharoah, I would like a updated version and would like to see more cards with ancient egyptian-like theme. I know Gravekeepers, but, it shouldn't be the most representative.
newnemesis666 ikr
it still to this day hurt me to see armed dragon lv 10 on this list. atleast we got the thunder armed dragons now
Gate Guardian support is all I ask for...like this!
Labyrinth Maze
Field Spell
This card cannot be targeted by your opponent's card effects. Any monsters summoned have their effects negated until the end of the turn, and are placed in the next empty monster Zone closest to their owner's Field Spell Zone, and can only attack monsters in the same column. Both players can only use each of the following effects of "Labyrinth Maze" once per turn:
●Move 1 monster you control to an adjacent Monster Zone, then, if your opponent controls more monsters than you, you can move 1 monster you control to an additional adjacent Monster Zone.
●Discard 1 card; add 1 level 7 Monster from your deck or GY to your hand, and if you do, you can Special Summon "Labyrinth Tank" from your Extra Deck, and/or add 1 "Labyrinth" card from your Deck to your hand.
Hidden Powers of the Labyrinth
Continuous Trap
You can only control 1 "Gate Guardian".
Dungeon Trap in the Labyrinth
Normal Trap
Activate as many effects as possible up to the number of other face-up "Labyrinth" cards on the field:
●Special Summon 1 "Monster Tamer" from your hand, Deck, or GY, then take control of 1 monster your opponent controls until "Monster Tamer" leaves the field.
Magical Labyrinth: Wall Shadow
Quick Play Spell
Rearrange your opponent's monsters in their monster zones as you see fit, then, if you control a "Labyrinth" card, Special Summon 1 "Wall Shadow" from your Hand or Deck, ignoring summoning conditions, also, it cannot be destroyed by battle, and any monster that battles it is sent to the GY after Damage Calculation.

The effect of Helios with the image in the Vido would be really good, as it just needs to be destroyed, the actual card unfortunately is bad.
I've always loved Gate Guardian. He always had an amazing design. I wish he would get a retrain.

If Neos Wiseman gets a retrain, I hope they decide to make it into Elemental HERO Neos Wiseman...
And have it require Neos & a Spellcaster type monster to make it more generic.
tim5fl Yubel is a Spellcaster though, so it's most likely going to be using that instead... Let's just hope it's a Fusion too...
Sorry. That was dumb.
Elemental HERO Neos Wiseman
Level 10 LIGHT
Fusion/Spellcaster/Effect
ATK 3000 / DEF 3000
"Elemental HERO Neos" +1 Level 7 or more DARK Spellcaster monster
Must be Fusion Summoned and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways.
GenesicShinZyraelKai make the effect also have the choice of floating a spellcaster and this could be very dangerous.
couple things about helios trice.
1- its when its destroyed in general
2- you could run it in a deck that banishes only monsters- like dark worlds ( with their field spell), or banifish.
You mentioned Darkness Dragon, but don't forget the original RE Black Metal Dragon
Thats not really a boss monster and more of a variant to Red-eyes. Darkness Dragon was absolutely suppose to be a boss monster for the archetype it just failed at it for being so mediocre.
At least Darkness Dragon got the design points. One of the most beautiful card artworks till this day :)
Man that card was stupid. You literally got more use and benefit just by keeping metalmorph equipped instead.
"Armityle is the biggest beat stick in the game."
Me: (laughs in King of Skull Servant)
Yeah it's a shame how Darkness is. Maybe they'll reprint him some time in the future to give him better base stats and a slighty better eff.
If you used "Shield & Sword" on "Valkyrion, The Magna Warrior", it's attack and defense will both be 100 points higher than "Gate Guardian"..
And it's a LV 8 against LV 11 monster...
Oh boy can't wait to watch a new video About bad boss monster cards. . . why is the first card my ace growing up?
I mixed Red eyes with Blue eyes to make my deck since alot of the red eyes cards allows you to summon normal monsters from the graveyard.
Birthright is good you can tribute blue eyes to Cosmo brain and use birthright to summon blue eyes
Ironic, #2's anime counterpart wasn't even used in the anime.
Poor Abidos, if he were real, I would tell him not to look at this list due his ace appearing..... I wonder how many people even remember him.

I LOVE how you formalize and compare the chaotic canonical Anime effects of the cards😆
With character "special abilities" in Yugioh duel links,. Gate Gaurdian ahs a somewhat viable play, but if your opponent has a trap card or any card to destroy it, then your entire plan is failed.
6:07 I’ve never heard him curse before lol
The Neos Wiseman zombie world turbo deck worked out fine for DuelLogs
Worst Boss monsters be like: I have a super circumstantial condition to be summoned, my stats are garbage and I have a sign in my head who says: Destroy/banish/send me to the deck/hand
