    Thank you, thank you, thank you, I have been looking for a video on this for months. I have the new shaft, now I can do it myself. Well done!

      Susan Griffin You are most welcome! I almost didn't make this vid thinking not many ppl would use it, but when I was looking up how to do it myself I found very little so I figured I'd share. Glad to hear its of use!

    Thank you for the great video. Just bought my first Saab (1999 9-3) and has the same exact issue. I’ll be fixing this before fall sets in.

    Excellent video. 👍 I would like to know how to make the drum move more freely. (Lubricant etc) is there a video or website you know for this? or is it an easy job?

    Me again, i had it fixed but it broke again due to much friction. Can you perhaps make a video about the saab fix in WIS about installing some screws in the airbox to seperate them?

    My heat knob is stuck on hot and I found the knob is broken in the back where it connects. If I try and twist with needle-nose pliers, it won't move, so it is not just the knob. Since this is the knob on the left, is there the same shaft assembly for that side, or is that a different part and number? I haven't pulled it apart yet to look, but I live in Phoenix and need to order the parts as soon as possible so any info you have is much appreciated! Thanks for the video!

      The knob on the left is different, you catch a glimpse of it here in the video but it has a gear that connects to a long cable. When detached you can pull or push the cable by hand to switch from hot and cold so you're not baking in AZ!

      Did you happen to find that part or a quick fix to switch from cold to warm air? I had the passenger side panel off like this video but couldn't find the mechanism this gent talked about. I have that same problem coming into winter time though with mt 00' 9-3. Thanks in advance.

      Mar Cin I'd look at some of the old forums that existed when more ppl owned these cars. You can lubricate the drum or the fix per Saab is to use a screw to seperate the two pieces. Read more here:

    Thanks for the video! The drum had 0 play wich made my new shaft break, took off the vent to passenger vent and lubed inside the director, got it free again but not free enough. I have read info about a Saab fix with installing screws to seperate the housing again, can you make a video about that? i can provide u with info from the WIS

      I don't know too much about the actual solution, as all my familiarity on the subject is derived from old forums, one-on-one chats with other owners, and yes WIS. I haven't actually done it (nor have I had to - thank God). Film it when you do yours!

    Thanks for the video! My 0-4 blower control is broken and I'm wondering if that is a similar toilet paper roll fix? When I move the knob from 0-4 it does not engage the climate control system, you almost have to hold it in between a number. Thoughts on what might be broken?

      Is your '04 a 9-3 or 9-5, bc the answer totally depends on which Saab it is!

      @@katiestern3265 OH I got it, "0-4" as in the Speeds for that fan knob. Yeah so this video was done on a 1999 9-3 with the same "0-4" manual control knob. Follow this fix and you may find a similar problem as mine!

    What's the middle part called to turn on the air. My switch for the middle one stopped working. I'm just now realizing this video covers the path of the air rather then what turns it on

    • @saabross3171
      @saabross3171  9 місяців тому

      The middle is the fan speed, which if it's not working it's likely the fan speed resistor or the blower motor itself. Both are under the plastic hood cowling, and then under the Cabin Air Filter. You have to remove the windshield wipers to access but overall not a difficult fix
