Andy’s bass contribution on “Jeanne” really takes the song to a different level altogether. I mean Billy Bragg's music will never outshine the smiths but as a lyricist he is pretty damn good. Though that said I definitely prefer Morrissey's songwriting
Whilst I absolutely love The Smiths nothing Morrissey ever wrote can hold a candle to either Levi Stubbs’ Tears or Tank Park Salute. Rubber Ring gets close I’d grant you.
With the name of the English Patriot course you would stick up for Morrissey. England is not the world as long as he might say and I say that as British person from Manchester. Young Morrissey would be disgusted with old Morrissey
The use of Rourke's death to Lionel-Blair that "Morrissey Bad" line to the crowd was untimely and tasteless. Why is it necessary to insist on trotting out moral conviction number infinity of a man who lost his place on the 'Relevant' list around the same time as Lori Pike or Little & Large?

Such a lazy trope from Bragg to label Morrissey as right wing or racist, he is neither of these. If Bragg took some time to read actually what Morrissey has said, instead of adopting the stance of the Daily Mail and The Sun, that would help.

What a beautiful tribute to a wonderful man and stunning bass player.
Billy covered this song when I saw him opening for the Smiths at the Beacon Theater in NYC in July '85. Was great then, and great now!
Very touching version, and a nice tribute to a beautiful soul…..
Beautiful tribute R.I.P Andy, thanks for your art.
Lovely tribute to Andy Rourke. Bill Bragg is a such a treasure

'Separating the art from the artist'. Oh the irony in that statement, Billy. Thought you were great mid '80's. Don't care much for you now tho.
Had to get your little dig in, eh Bragg?
Lol, he did and fair play to him. Morrissey has turned into a massive dick, it's wholly legitimate to point it out now and then.
