    Thx so much for your reviews and vids about this subcompact powered sub. I'm looking for something like this for smaller events as I am getting old, and my back is going to thank me for it. I'm going to buy a pair instead of one 15 inch. More power to you, and thx again.

    When I saw the reviews on the Thomann website, some of them call this box bad and prefer higher price products.
    But I assume for my needs it seems to be perfect. Because when I used a system with a 15" bass, I had always to turn down the bass, it was too much.
    The speakers I use are LD Systems MAUI 5, Bose L1 compact and HK Audio LUCAS nano 300, there are frequencies below 100 Hz but not very much. Comparable size, but different bass. But in all cases this bass could add some extra bass on the one hand and enable the speakers to sound louder on the other hand.

      Been using these for several years now. They sound great with my powered EV tops and I have need of nothing else.

    Great video! I just bought this sub. I'm a little confused with the high pass and boost switch. What should these typically be set at for a starting point. Also what is the reverse/Norm switch for? Do you typically leave this in normal or reverse position. I have two 8 inch powered speakers that I will be running this to. I primarily use this for karaoke and just playing music. Thanks!

    Well I've had my 2 X Behringers 1200
    For a few weeks , I've got them dialled in so they don't distort input the main in to the sub and the sub out powers the top cab,
    Erm the bass isn't as deep as I'd like them to be in unsure how to set up the low bass and high cut bass for £250 each I guess I could of bought worse but may be I'm a bass junkie but I think I'd like more louder bass and a deeper thump . Overall it's better it's taken the strain out of the tops and added some weight .

      @navydiving  7 років тому +2

      You can't beat physics. You want deeper bass, you are going to need bigger drivers. I cheat a bit with these subs and use a dbx GoRack with sub-synth which synthesizes sub freqs down to 40Hz that really makes these units rumble. It still does not compare with my older Behringer B1500D Pro sub - I mainly use the 1200 subs for small to mid-sized venues and they are more than adequate. More than often I get told to dial it down, never the other way so it hasn't been an issue for me...

      That's interesting! I did have a JBLE250p home cinema subwoofer running to begin with, via an active Crossover it was a cheap thing somehow blew the channels after a while? The sub is fine but sounded poo without it. I might give that go rack a try if I'm right it's no that expensive?
      I had intended to get new tops but I bought I've bought a new car so my money's blown for now
      It drinks petrol too so it's like arrgh I can't save money. So that gorack is a Two channel thing pretty much like a digital crossover? I reckon 40hz is perfect, I just don't understand fully where to put high cut ? I've set the input levels around 2'oclock position They just about Keep up with tops but the limit light is on early but for most tracks they seem to be holding off distortions untill the altos show signs of it. Then I back them off a touch . But thanks for your reply and I'll try that Gorack 👍take care.

    Hey there..just hooked up my new B1200 Powered sup to my Peavey 6000 Escort...what a mess...I initially set up the sub by manual suggested settings, run my two 1/4 inch/ XLR L and R from Peavey outs to Behringer ins A and B. Then XLRs from Subs outs A and B to peavey speakers. Wanted to utilize the Subs filters...all I got was Bass with no highs and lows to speakers ( even after adjustments on subs knobs) Screw it..tried the Subs "Thru" to the peavey speakers and got it all..highs lows and bass..but i dont think i am utilizing what the Sub can really do...any ideas?

    • @navydiving
      @navydiving  8 років тому +1

      +lloydchaison1 First things first: Are your Peavey speakers passive or active? That is do the speakers run off an amp in the base (not bass) unit or are the amps built into the speakers themselves? If active or passive, do they have a line level out? This is important because you can easily blow your new sub if you are sending it an amplified signal!!!!!

    will the subwoofer pass a signal thru the hi-pass filter when it is off?

    • @navydiving
      @navydiving  7 років тому

      This is how I hook mine up - that way if the sub ever fails you still get full spectrum audio to your tops. I also also have the 15 inch version of these subs (same circuitry only 15 in drivers instead of 12 in). I did a gig where the sub blew and found that when the power is off to the sub that the pass through shuts down. By hooking it up this way it does not matter: s6.postimg.org/gxxivof1t/DJ_System_Config_Denon_MC6000_MK2_with_Subs.jpg

    • @navydiving
      @navydiving  8 років тому

      +ejflesher I run the tops in "With Sub" mode which takes a huge load off the amps on the tops. The subs have the same diameter woofers as the tops but you really do get more punch out of dedicated subs rather than full range tops I believe.

      You are right the EVs do outclass the Behringers by a mile. The EV subs are just stupid expensive so I went with a lesser sub on bottom end only - they do hold up well at most gigs I do...

    • @navydiving
      @navydiving  8 років тому +1

      +soul winner for christ I have a Behringer B1500D for larger venues and unloaded my Yorkville 18 incher because it was just too big to haul around for mobile work. I rarely take my 15 Behringer on the road because of size/weight now. For me a twin pair if these 12 inch subs (stacked) is far more thump that my single 15 any day of the week and makes the hauling of gear far easier - food for thought. Mackie Thumps are low end subs just as the Behringers are I hate to say. These do the job but if one canks, you huck it out and get a new one or simply replace the drivers like I did my Behringer 15 sub - it sounds better with the new higher end sub driver now....

    • @kxlj926
      @kxlj926 8 років тому

      ive been a mackie thump user for a long time the bass on the 15 mackie is deep but you also get mids and highs in one solid complete package the old thumps were junk but mackie's new version of thump is out standing 1000 watts per speaker they really out done there self with this one when the first one was like 300 watts so big difference now the rumor still stands true today about thump they do clip easy but with that said they clip easy if your one of these kids out here who don't know one single thing about sound as for me i know about sound ive been a mobile dj over 15 years now as far as what your using there wonderful if i didn't have mackie's i would own these there that good i have a buddy who uses these and a peavey sub there are 3 companies that will always be a part of my rig denon dj mackie chauvet ...keep em dancin ..jc

      +soul winner for christ - I am a very long time audio guy myself. I tried severaly different variants of two-way tops based on 15's (rented several before buying what I have now) but found most of them were very muddy in the midrange - there is just too much variance and slop from a 15 inch woofer to a 1 or 1.5 inch tweeter to make it sound as natural in the midrange (where vocals and most musical energy resides) as a 12 inch based two-way tops IMHO. My DJ Partner in crime out here uses SRM-450 and SRM 450 V2 and loves his speakers. I was going to get those to be similar - then I heard the EVs - it was love at first listen ;-)
      I lucked in on a used set shortly after that saw little use about a year and a half ago and they have been solid ever since. I even bought a third for a remote speaker and will likely add a fourth to my ensemble once the season picks up. First weeding is in a couple of weeks at Hatley Castle where they filmed the X-men movies (Dr Xavier's school but really a university after being a military college). The EV's I use don't really need a sub - especially when the sub has the same size driver as the tops. I like the 12 inch subs only because they really really take the load of the tops and run cool so all that 1000 watts goes only to mid and high while a low pass setting on them (called "with sub") allows all the bass energy to only go to the external sub. It is a winning combo that is light to pack around and very mobile for my needs. We all make trade-offs based on resources. In a perfect world I would have the sweet EV subs but they are just too expensive for my needs...
      Best wishes in your endeavours as I am sure yours sound great as well for your requirements.
