You're the only one I've found to review a sub with a real instrument, all the others review with prerecorded dance music. From musician to musician thanks, I'm sold.
Thanks. Musicians are who I do the gear videos for.
I test All spkrs. with a bass 🎸
This is crazy! I use the same subs and loud speakers! I’ve recently added some Class D Peavey loudspeakers and a couple of 18” passive subs. Have had a hard time getting the sound that I know I should be getting out of my system. I haven’t had the manual, this video has shown me exactly what I have been doing wrong, I’ve been using the through instead of the outputs.
Thanks!
Glad the video was a help.
Exactly the explanation I was looking for, great explanation!cheers!
Glad it helped!
Great material... real pro review . You help me a lot man. Thank you.
Glad it was a help Piotr, thanks!
Super helpful review and walk through. Thanks!
Glad it was a help Paul.
WELL DONE REVIEW. THANK YOU, SIR
Great, great video! Answered every question I had. Thank you
Great to hear!
Many thanks been toying with the idea of getting a sub just to give that little bit more to my system, my three piece cover band has 2 x alto 315 so I guess this sub will suffice without spending silly money. Most venues we play the altos alone kickout nice bass.
Thank you for this. Buying this sub soon
Glad the video was a help.
Thanks for your review.
Great demo… thank you!
Glad you liked it!
Nice and very helpful review, im thinking of buying one to put it in my sweet studio, for the sweet and thumping bass drum 😁
Yeah, I take it out for when my band plays outdoors or bigger rooms. Helps to thicken up the kick and the bass.
This is a real beautifull review! Love it, thanks a lot bro, well don!
Thanks!
bless u for making this video!
Right on!
Great Info Video Steve 👍
Thanks Danny!
Funny! I'm using these exact subs with those exact Mackie Thumps. I think they're a pretty great combo for a smaller venue!
Yep, that setup worked out good.
Ive decided on getting a pair of these and mackie srm1850s to pair with my mackie thump 15 4th version
Edit: the srm1850 from mackie is an 18"subwoofer its 699 on gear4music if any of you guys are uk based and will also be a great addition
Great Video
Thanks!
Very good video
Thank You! Great Video ! You really took your time ! 👍👍. You would be a cool guy to hang out with 👍👍🇺🇸
Thank you
Woow great video , thank you Sir.
Glad you liked it!
I just got the vq1800d today and figured out the passive mixer situation :)
Is this subwoofer powerful ?
I wouldn't say powerful. If you're in a band and you're playing a small to midsized bar and need to round out the sound with some kick and bass this will do the trick. But, it doesn't compare to a Mackie DRM or SRM.
@@stevekonbass which subwoofer would be the best please for small to large events it could vary should I get some of these and them some 18s as an option thank you
It really depends on your budget and how you plan on using them. Ideally you would want 2 subwoofers so the stage is balanced. But, in a small bar 2 subs might be overkill so you might just want 1 sub to fill out the sound. Look into the Mackie SRM1850 1600W. If those are too pricey then maybe the Mackie Thump18S 600W. If you're on a tight budget then maybe the Behringer.
Thanks for sharing 👍🏼🇦🇺
this sounds nice !... it would be a great "bass amp" setup in stereo with a preamp of multifx ! thanks !
Very good video you explain very good ..kip going with the channel
Thank you!
Thanks a lot".. for your opinion..,,I'm very appreciated that my fren...👍🏼👍🏼😊
No problem. 👍
..Best damn review i ever seen!! You cud easily be an aviation instructor...fantastic clear and comprehensible instruction with no bs at all....absolutely luv it!! There is still 1 in stock at shop near me now in 2024 july.... will get it!!....will connect the OUTs to my Yamaha Hs8 speakers........so the THRU outputs are for other subs only.....am i correct?
Technically, you can use the thru as you like, but you'll be getting full range. If you were to connect a bunch of subs, yeah the thru. To connect tops, the OUTS are used.
When you will buy the Bluetooth Alto for spiker ??? I want to see reviews , you will eliminate the cable 😁
Good video
Thanks.
What do you mean by a passive mixing board, i never heard of them... I have a BEHRINGER QX1832USB mixer... I only have this 1 sub coming from SUB OUTPUTS 1 an 2 of the mixer into the sub INPUT A an B...
Then I have 2 tops, BEHRINGER EUROLIVE B615D coming from MAIN OUTPUTS R an L of the mixer into the INPUT of each speaker...
Is this ok to have it like this, only issues im have is i get a hiss out of my tops and if i turn my gains up on my mixer it gets worse, not sure if i have ground issues on that...
A passive board is a board that doesn't have an amplifier in it. In the older days, the boards had a built in amplifier to power the speakers, which didn't have an amplifier built in. This sub is powered with a built in amp, so you use a passive board with it.
Cactus Jack’s smooth little brother
hey if I run my active studio monitors off the back of the sub ouputs will the sub crossover affect my studio monitors? and is it possible to run my computer from aux to sub input and sub output to active studio monitors?
If you go out of the sub through the THRU output it shouldn't effect what you hear in the studio monitors. Not sure about the computer.
I have a 8 piece kit . Would 1 of these be good for me? My band plays a ton of Iron Maiden/Judas Priest. Guitar players amps are loud. Would 2 be better for me. Always played in garage bands but this band will be playing actually gigs.
I'm gonna have to go into a little detail to answer your question Ruben. If you guys are playing small to medium size clubs, one of these on each side of the stage should give you that "fullness" to the drums and bass guitar that you want. For bigger clubs or outdoor gigs you'd probably want to look into more expensive and powerful subs. Now I took note that you said that your guitar players amps are "loud". Try not to have overly loud stage volume. Your aim should be to have a great balanced full mix coming through the PA and a comfortable stage volume. Sometimes being too loud in a club can get you fired so you want to avoid that. The job of a sub is to add fullness to the mix. The frequency of this sub is 40 Hz to 200 Hz so it'll bring out your kick, toms, and bass guitar. It's 500 watts but to me that's just a number they throw on there. To keep it where it doesn't stay clipping I'd say it sounds in the 350 range. Congrats on transitioning from the garage to the clubs. Best of luck. Hope you guys play Wasted Years and Riding On The Wind!
Hi Steve I want to buy 2sub vq1800 with 2 bsd115 eurolive do you think it s a goog deal for electro loud sound?
Yeah, should give you enough power to do medium/large rooms.
Just got 2 Behringer subs, I connected them up the same way, fired them up in the right way, but nothing happens with the sub, but sound still comes out the tops, would that mean the subs are no good???
Turn the subs up about half way and turn the volume down on the tops and give it a listen. If there's no boom something is either connected wrong or the subs are bad.
I want a test with trapcity’s track 💔💔💔
Is this what you use as your Bass rig? or is it just for a demo.
No, the Behringer sub I use as front sound for when my band does an outdoor gig or a big room, it's just a part of the PA. I use a Fender Rumble 500 for my backline. It's compact, light, and plenty loud and I can tweak the EQ as needed. I did a review of that too: ua-cam.com/video/2--RuFMaR_g/v-deo.html
stevekonbass can you run a kickdrum mic straight to the sub or does it have to go through a mixer first?
Yes, provided the kick drum mic doesn't need phantom power.
Thank you.
why do you need a passive mixer ? can't you just connect your laptop via and xlr to 3.5mm jack Y splitter ?
In terms of doing live sound for a "band", one would need a passive mixer. You wouldn't want to use a powered mixer going into powered speakers. If you're just playing music off your laptop, your way should work.
@@stevekonbass You still don't need a passive mixer. You can run out of the unpowered mono out on an active mixer into the powered sub. You can use any unpowered signal
True... in a pinch if all you have is a powered mixer one can do that, but if you're starting from scratch and buying new equipment it makes sense to buy a passive mixer for powered speakers.
Can I connect this to my home theater reciever?
I wouldn't recommend it. This sub is suited for bands or DJs.
Would I be able to use a rca to xlr converter
Yeah. I use 1/4" to XLR on occasion.
Can be as home theater subwoofer dose it play low frequencie
It might be a bit much to use it in a home theater set up. You'd rattle the walls for sure.
So the other 2 speakers that i can connect should be active speakers right ?
Yeah, if you were hooking the other side with a sub and top.
@@stevekonbass thank you !
Hello..I have two behriger vp2520 2x15 and I am interested in adding a subwoofer .. do you suggest a b1800xp center or two behriger vq1800d one on each side?
Hmm... there are a couple of things to consider... 1) how big are the venues you play? 2) how much gear do you really feel like transporting? The XP is the better sub but more money. It'll fill most rooms with the low end you want. The 2 vq1800d could give you a little more balance with one on each side of the stage, which would be good for outdoor gigs. Most typical bars/clubs 1 sub is enough. My opinion, go with the XP, more power and less to carry.
@@stevekonbass claimera..I will definitely be able to play outside whenever I have to be able to cover it..whenever the question is the following.I will be able with two vq1800d to cover outdoor spaces given that there are 2x15 for peaks and maybe it helps or I should go to two b 1800xp ?? the transport for the weight is not a problem ..
Two b1800xp and you'd be covered for just about any sized gig.
Behringer is international. I didn’t know that🤷♂️
WHAT MATERIAL IS THE SPEAKER COATED?
It's like a speaker carpet material.
Молодец мужик, я даже не понимая по английски, всё понял что ты объ яснил👍
Потрясающие! Я рада, что видео помогло моему брату.
@@stevekonbass спасибо брат🤝
Can I use this sub for my bass drum, floor tom and plug my xlr mic directly to the sub since it has EQ built in?
Technically you could, but you'd have better results if you put the mics through a mixer first.
@@stevekonbass what powered speaker set up would you use for a small club or park with people as far as 100ft away? Example 12s and one sub?
For a full band PA in a small club two 15" tops and one sub should do it. Outdoors we'd use 2 subs.
@@stevekonbass I'm only thinking about my drums....so 2 15s and 2 subs should be fine......sounds like that set up would do fine even for a 4 or 5 piece band.
I was talking about 2 15s and a sub for the whole band. 2 15s and a sub for "just drums" is way too much brother. Most places we played said the drums were too loud without even mic-ing them. We'd be fired if we did that, lol.
Why can’t I plug it into a powered mixer?
You'll damage it. Powered speakers are designed to be used with passive mixers. You might hear people say that if the powered mixer has a passive out you can do it, but that's pointless in my book. So, if you're looking to buy a powered speaker, you want to match it with a passive mixer.
So I have two behringer passive the b212xl and a powered b210d with the twelve inch sub powered with a powered mixer I also have a passive mixer how can I make this work
stevekonbass could I pair my passive mixer with my powered mixer then put the active sub on the passive mixer?
I get that you're trying to work with what you have, I've done that too, but my advice would be to trade something in and get one system so you're not mismatching stuff. But, you can look at the manual on your powered board and see if there's a passive out on it for the sub.
stevekonbass well I’m getting the one you have I wasn’t trying to mismatch I’ve just had the passives the longest and couldn’t power them to their potential for several years my current 12” sub is plugged into the powered mixer I’m just trying to save some money and am about to order the sub today unless the passive version would be better my powered mixer right now is the Rockville RPM 45 you will have to check out the pictures
Good starter sub ... but beware not much second hand value ... save up buy a quality sub
Who TF thinks about the second hand value before even buying?
Pior sub que já tive. Clipa fácil e não nada de potencia ou pressão sonora
