Well Blink Blink, My B1500xp's did their first gig, and to all out there thinking on buying the Behringer Subs contemplating between 15's or 18's , take Blinky's word the 15 is absolutely excellent, well built and can certainly give the punch, so to you Blink Blink thank you so so so much once again for an excellent review of the B1500XP 's , the 18' can probably push a little extra air, but my god the 15' at the same wattage are super efficient, at first soundcheck prior to performance I cranked them up and put a bit of UB40 through them, just the bass no tops, and a few people in the venue said jesus we have ears you know 😂 so I was happy, dropped all controls back to 12 o clock, and Aux fed to the desk had complete control, half way into the nights performance cranked them up from the desk and I could feel the thump and so could the crowd, proof of the pudding was the whole bar was dancing from top to end of about 200 people, so yeah Blinky I'm so happy I purchased the B1500xp's
I even also ran a little disco last 30mins and I can safely say their preformance was A1

I went ahead and got the 15 to accompany my 18 (so I’ve got both). It’s a great setup, and I feel like I’m able to cover the full range of sub frequencies now! Love this Behringer line of sub

@@DjBlinkBlink RMS ARE watts haha. Just a different way of measuring. It's just a short way of saying continuous average power(root mean square to be exact)
It's a far more reliable way of some sort of performance spec vs an arbitrary peak number, but you also need to combine power with efficiency. Watts are nearly meaningless unless combined with efficiency.
A 90db/W speaker at 1000w is as loud as a 100db/W speaker at 100w.

Nice review, thanks. I'm in a rock band and we've got 2 Yamaha DBR12 active PA speakers connected to a Behringer XR18 digital mixer, plus 4 powered wedge monitors. I've been considering adding subwoofers to our setup for a while, but most are a bit out of my price range for now. It's suggested that you use the Yamaha DXS15 sub with the DBR12 speakers, however I've seen a Behringer b1500xp sub being sold locally for £180. I'm wondering if this Behringer sub will be good enough for our requirements (for now at least, until we can afford something better), and if it will work with our Yamaha main speakers? Also, is it possible to use just one sub and if so how would be connect it up to our system? Where do you position the sub onstage if you're only using one? (Obviously with 2 subs, you can place them below the main speakers, but not sure what people who only use 1 do).
I've also noticed it has 2 inputs, 2 outputs and 2 'Thru' outputs too (see pic below). So does this mean just the one sub can be connected to 2 mains?

Thank you for your feedback. Now as per your questions:
1. This SUB will be good enough until you can afford a better and "lighter" SUB (currently I use RCF)
2. Yes it will work with your Yamaha main speakers. Just plug in the XLR inputs
3. Yes it is possible to use one SUB. To connect it to your system, send the inputs from your system to the SUB and then send the left and right outputs to the tops
4. If I was using any SUB on a stage, I will position it close to a wall and at a corner as SUBs are omnidirectional and it can bounce the sound on the corner of the walls. However some people just position them in the center or hide it under a booth or desk which kind of defeats the effort of using a subwoofer to be honest
5. Finally, the 2 inputs, outputs and thru means you can connect one SUB to a "left and right" input or tops.

Hi Thank you so so much for your speedy reply, the sec I read your reply, straight away I went onto gear4music and see just 2 of the 15's left also checked thomann and none available, I would have gone for RCF Subs, but a lot of money for the amount of times I would use them, so I said if I get something on a budget that won't break the bank and give me bang for my bucks in other words value for my money, behringer subs would do the job fine, and your video was the absolute best I came across after all the browsing for hours on end,
The 935a RCF's by me come down to 45hrtz to 20 kHz
and the behringer you can tune to suit which is a great advantage, so I suppose I would want to tune the subs starting point 35 until they get cranky with each other LOL,
I'm expecting my subs to arrive this Friday evening,
hopefully you can help me here to connect my RCF 935a to the B1500XP
I was telling you I just bought the Mackie Pro16fx V3 mixing desk, and right now I'm going out the XLR's at the back of the desk to my RCF's
which at the moment are both set to BOOST, using the full sound and giving mighty clarity which I certainly don't want to lose, but for that extra
Kick and thump I think going by your review the behringers will do the job perfectly, but how to set it up correctly coming from the desk, going to my RCF s first or subs first, I have no clue here, and seriously thank you so so much for your help and advice here,
Setting up your SUBS is very easy. It's all about making sure you have enough headroom to play with when using them with your DJ equipment and most importantly setting your 'gain structure' correctly. This video I made about gains may be of help ua-cam.com/video/rSvGIOPrrnE/v-deo.html
Hi, again got my Subs B1500xp today and my my you were 100% spot on when you say buy these 1500Xp, I was blow away by the sound and how punchy and clear and sweet sounding, the way I'm going about connecting up, is Aux fed using Aux 2 and 2 on my Mackie 16FX V3 desk
Using cables Male XLR to mono TRS and adjusted knobs on the subs same as you have them, putting the Aux's on my festk to 12 position, same goes for the subs all in 12 o clock position, bass boost off,
But I was told anyway only go Aux fed, let the RCF's 945a's
On the main outputs on the desk and in this way I would have complete control, so
Your the expert, what setting would you reccomend when using the subs with my RCF's
I just went by trial and error tonight, got sound right outa the box,
One guy on youtube reccomended of I have the new 9 series RCF tops, then I should have bought the RCF subs, but no I think the bering I bought are far superior 🤗🤔
In all honesty you can use any SUBS with your RCF tops and yes it is more 'beneficial' to you if you use the same manufacturer as most people tend to do (I don't cos my tops are EVs and my subs are RCFs) 🤣😂.
Now let's talk about your connections. This is how I connect my speakers to my controller (although I have an external mixer between my controller and my speakers to clean the sound):
Without putting the external mixer into the equation, from my DJ controller, I use XLR cables to XLR cables and I connect this to my subwoofers (one for the left and another for the right sub). Then from both subwoofers I send another XLR cable to my tops.
Hopefully this makes sense and feel free to ask any questions if you need any clarification.

HI Blink Blink, well the Subs are going to their first gig tonight, I won't be using the keyboards just Electric guitar and backing tracks, might even get a chance to run up the disco, anyway I will report back, I'm going Aux fed, and I just going to go 12 o clock on all controls of the subs, keep to Norm and turn on boost, and use my ears for level from my Mackie desk, as for the RCF's I have been using them last few gigs on Boost and volume level of about 3-0-clock, I might as well put these at Linear tonight, anyway I'll let you know how it goes, but outa the box when I first recieved the subs I just did a quick test at the house and a neighbour of mine 2 doors up the road came out of his house wondering where the boom was coming from LOL, well of course he knew as I'm the only musician/ Dj in our estate, so definitely there is some thump off the B1500xp's and the best about it all is being a able to comfortably lift one up in front our your chest with 2 hands, ok the 18s might push a little extra air, but honestly not worth fussing about, I had purchased 2 poles also with a crank but these I won't have till next week, I did buy 2 tripods stands with cranks, what a life saver, well truth be told a back saver, I can't wait to go to work tonight 🤗thank you 😉😉

Hi, love your review on the B1500xp, 3000w, im a oneman band with keyboards and Guitar also will play the odd Disco, my question is, and taking into regards my age, venues and compact enough to fit in a local pubs small stage, catering for about 150 people, I now have the Rcf935a's and wow sound is amazing, maybe I do not need subs with these, but on my latest gig I did say to myself if only I had powered subs, to add a little extra warmth and punch, I have been recommended to go with the 15s due to them being the exact same as 18s In specs basically and only difference us weight and size and of course the 18 inch woofer, so yeah I'm torn between the 15 or 18, balance of audio is critical especially on vocals and of course you don't want to end up with a muffled sound, so in your honest opinion what would you reccomend here, you know these 2, you reviews them both, so if anyone knows I think your my best opportunity to get it right,
I'm 54, still feel 21 +, but sick to death of lifting heavy gear in and out of venues, it's mostly average size bars lounges and hotels lounges I perform my shows, I'm going on here, so you have an idea,
there is only £12 difference on going for the 15 or the 18, but but, I'll let you decide, and thank you in advance, oh I now also own the mackie Pro FX 16 USB desk, super desk with the RCFs as is but where do I go from here 🤔 excellent demonstration and reviews👍

I had 2x1200 I was mightily impressed with them but ultimately weren’t powerful enough
I was mightily disappointed with the Alto TS215s but they are louder but that’s it

Yeah I’m thinking of getting an Extra sub rather than the expense of Two New ones
I need more Low end clout . The Altos are extremely fussy about The music . Modern house music they’ll thump but the volume has to go up,
For anything else I got a pair of 6” hifi speakers that do a better job. 😔

In all honesty you would struggle for headroom if you are playing for 150 people with this setup. You need "stronger speakers" with more DBs or RMS. May I suggest RCFs? (the 12 inch tops). I have a friend who's using behringer B215D 15 years now no problems I was playing one time with those speakers with 50 peoples . Very good but not that punch.. that's why I plane 2 add 1500xp 2 of them. Honestly my daughter she's a dj she's 8years old and very talented 😊. So she's playing 12 gigs for hall year. Hello Mate. With 2 subs, you have just about enough punch for the garden party for 150 people. However you need more tops to cover the vocals and high ends. 2 Rcf 312s would not be enough and I would advise adding 2 more to make it 4 tops cos you are now dealing with a lot of open space for this particular event.

Hey, I have 2 passive 300w top speakers and an amp with 2 x600w output. I'm thinking of buying this subwoofer, the question is how to properly connect active sub with passive tops. Coulnd't find video about this on youtube :/ Should I do from mixer into SUB (Input A & B) then Output (A & B) into amplifier and from amplifier to passive top speakers ? Will that work ?

You nailed it perfectly and yes, you can connect your setup the way you described. First you send the output from your "DJ controller" to the Behringer sub, then you send the output from "THRU" (A & B) of the subwoofer into the amplifier. This means your output from the subwoofer is exactly what was sent out from your DJ controller.
@@DjBlinkBlink Thanks for the answer ;) but instead of "TRHU" can I use "OUTPUT" so that everything below 100Hz will be cut off and it will be less stress on my passive top speakers ? Or is it bad somehow for the amplifier not to recieve full range from "DJ controller" ? :)
Personally I would use the "thru" and not the "output". If I need to adjust anything afterwards, I would do that between the amplifier and the tops. This would ensure I have full control of the sound from the tops. In as much as you are not sending "hot signals" to your amp, you should be fine. @@DjBlinkBlink Thanks again for the answer :) I can't adjust between amp and the tops :/ I have simple amp with just volume knobs and passive speakers doesn't have any controls at all :D Plus top speaker can handel from 65Hz to 20kHz so cutting that 35Hz so it would be 100Hz to 20kHz maybe not that bad ? :)
That's not too bad and would definitely be the best option.

With Two of these I mean 2 X B1500XP Subs and 2 X EV tops how many people you can handle in a big hotel ballroom or an open air situantion like a beach or stadium I'm wondering.

So let's break this down:
1. Two of the B1500XP subs and 2 EV tops in a big hotel ballroom (if it is low ceiling), would handle 150 guests easily with enough headroom.
2. The same equipment at a beach would be fine but remember you would have lesser coverage. So let's say 100 guests.
3. In a packed stadium, you would need more speakers cos of the larger open space.

Hello mate, this sub does not have a stereo mode switch. The only way to send a mono or stereo signal to the sub is via your DJ software and how you connect your outputs from your controller to your sub. For example, this can be achieved easily when you change your sound mode to stereo in Serato which means you can send a right and left signal to the subwoofer as required.

Yes you can use Behringer subwoofers as a band although I would advise you get the 'passive' version. It's not advisable to use active speakers for band stuffs to be honest

Sorry to be a nuisance Blink Blink but one more question for you I ordered 2 poles with crank handle which arrived today but they are not suited to my Behringer subs the top pole part is ok, but the bottom end has a screw thread and is wider, so what will I look lout for in regards to getting the correct poles what will fit the bass subs, thanks in advance, promise I wont annoy you again 🤗

@@DjBlinkBlink thanks for getting back to me, the speaker poles I got from Thomann with the crank, very strong and well made but yes it had the treaded screw end which was wrong for my Behringer B1500xp's, after searching many musicstores for the correct I had forgotten maybe I might get the correct speaker poles 35mm to 35mm
with crank handle, but I managed to get the next best thing for the job, I got the 2 telescopic speaker poles but not with the crank handles, but at least the pole ends are correct, and to my surprise really strong made by PULSE and on Amazon about £13 each..

Hello again I'm back again for more help, first off I'm very happy with my purchase of my B1500xp's, now I'm Aux feeding them, and my RCF'935A's are connected to main L/R from my mackie Pro 16fx desk, sound is very good,
But as you said here the key to any speakers is to balance your sound,
I played a gig just at a bar that can hold up to 150 people,
Me standing behind my microphone singing away and backing tracks, the manager came up to me and said, down at the back wall theres a boom boom drowning out your vocals, so Blink Blink, I told you I Aux feed my Subs
Taking a male XLR from input A to TRS mono to Aux 1 on mu desk, then all control knobs on the sub to 12-0-Clock
Boost on and phase norm,
my desk main outs are to 00
and each Aux also to 12
my RCF's on full,
Now the RCF's are certainly a powerful speaker,
as are the Subs, but being honest with you Im am only completely guess working setting the subs here, putting all the control knobs on the subs to 12 position, but then in regards to norm and reverse I really have no clue, but I can tell you when the manager told me they could get that boom down the back in one sense I was happy, but also thinking hang on a sec, I'm possibly setting these wrongly, so your the expert here Blinky,

I have a wedding coming up of over 200 guests in a big octagonal room with high roof,
I am now worried that I might end up having a great sound on stage but on the dance floor especially at the back muffled boomy sound,
can you give me your expert advice to avoid this but to have the thud felt but balanced correctly,
maybe I should link my Subs to my RCF's , I really don't know 🙄🤔🙏
@@TheFendertak first thing first, you only need the reverse when your subs are cancelling themselves out. This would only happen if you are using TWO DIFFERENT MANUFACTURERS as your subwoofers or if your subs are placed at a point where the bass then clashes.
In your case the second part may be the reason. If you then use reverse (that's the polarity) and it gives you a better sound, then happy days. This problems should however not happen to be honest cos you have the same manufacturer.
Now let's talks about your connections. You should send your left and right XLR output from your controller to your subs, then send the next XLR to your tops. AVOID USING TRS connections or aux connection as you could be introducing noise into your system with this.

Firstly remember the RMS and SPL value is the heart of the speakers, and this value is what you need to calculate what output you would get from your speakers. However, if we use the watts to have a rough idea, your RCF is a 128db speaker with 800 watts.
- 4 of this would be 3200 watts (peak value).
- 3 subs with 3000 watts peak (remember Behringer inflate their watts) would be 9000 peak watts.
- Total would be 9000 + 3200 = 12,200 peak watts.
- If we factor in the inflation by Behringer, we can round up the 12,200 peak watts to 7000 peak watts (remember this is the peak watts you can get for a brief BURST if you run your speaker at the maximum strength).
- Your true watts should then be about 3000 watts maximum.
- Allocate 10 watts to each guest and you should be able to cover 300 guests with this outside.
Finally, remember the wattage is not the main factor to calculate the sound output of your speakers. The SPL and RMS are the two main factors.

Do you think the 15 is as good as the 18. The 18 is just so heavy and it think it would be a pain to carry around 😭😭
Unfortunately mate, the 15" is not as powerful or punchy as the 18". However if you have two 15" subs, you could get away with it cos you would have much "bass" to play with and yes the 18" is freaking heavy 😓.

I just found out this has 750w RMS
It's not important rms, the most important for speaker is spl db how loud the speaker is. For instance Alto has 1000 w rms and other speaker has 500 w rms and has more spl db than Alto who has 500 w rms more.So Alto is less loud than other 500 w rms.You need to look for spl db how much the loud speaker is.
