Plotting my Escape from the UK

  • OK guys, let's talk about leaving the UK. As we all know, the UK is not in a great place right now. For a multitude of reasons. There are greener pastures abroad and as a young (ish) British man, I feel like there is a better life out there somewhere. Is it time I let the explorer in my British blood take over and gamble with starting a new life abroad? YES, yes it is. I'm thinking about moving to Japan. China is looking pretty good at the moment too. Or do I play it safe and move to USA? I could own a big gun, ooooo. No one is reading this description.... OK i'll stop writing it then...

Get out while your passport still has meaning. Im young too but I am fortunate to be dual citizen as my mum is polish, coming back to the UK sometimes to visit my parents and siblings is shocking, I don't recognise the place I grew up at all.

I'm also from the UK. Lived in Switzerland for 5 years, then returned last year. I'm astounded at how hard it's been, still unable to find work as a Software Engineer with around 10 years of experience. I'm now planning to return to Switzerland, though it's now harder. Wishing you success with your relocation to Japan. Keep moving, you'll find your way. Peace

If your young and can do it then go for it. UK is in desperate trouble so faced with expensive housing, high tax, institutional corruption and lack of opportunity i strongly recommend pissing off!

Yup, I'm also from the UK and a biker too. Completely agree with everything you said. Everything is fucked here. I can't blame people for leaving.
I just wish I had more skills to get me hired abroad. I've already completed a trade course in carpentry at college. But it hasn't helped my job prospects in the UK at all.

Myself and the vast majority of my friends never got a job doing what they studied in college or uni, it's turned into a bit of a scam.

Try and not be negative bro be abit more positive its a choice be happy. Every country has its quirks. I'm studying Irish language, im about 30 mins from Donegal.
But Its insanely difficult to live in Japan as a foreigner, they dont tend to warm to foreigners as much, you be an english teacher there. Social life is a challenge, many landlords refuse to rent to foreigners even if you speak native. Japan is not a cyber punk anime paradise.
Foreigners dont tend to stay for long. But in saying that all go for it reach the skies.

I used to live there for a whole year before and did just fine. Very welcoming and kind people. Never had a problem! Lot's of people tried to make me feel as welcome as possible, always wanted to ask me how I liked Japan etc etc! Only problem really was the work culture was kind of intense!
I feel like there is a lot of stuff online which is sensationalist about the country which doesn't actually reflect on the reality, if you get me?

I would go to Greece tomorrow if I could. Even France appeals. This country is done, especially since Trump got in.
