I'm 51 and been wanting to learn to play the drums for a long time. "Creep" means a lot to me as I was a young'un when it came out. I have been lucky enough to see Radiohead many times, but they never played this live when i saw them. Soooo, got me an electronic kit... searched easy songs to learn drumming... got me a list of 20 songs... creep was one of them. What a load of bollocks! The bass pedalling is 1 - 2 years away for me - however, the way this is filmed is brilliant. It really shows the transitions around the set brilliantly. Thank you, this is a lesson i'll save and study to help me nail this amazing song.
Aw great to hear! Yes this is definitely not an easy song with the kick drum pedal speed. I reccomend just practice it super slow for 3-5mins and try not to bury the beater and stay relaxed with your feet as you go. Hopefully that will all help! All the best with your drumming journey :)
@@katherinebraydrums Thank you for such a lovely response. Yeah, I have read that burying the bass pedal should be avoided - easier said than done! I just add it to the end of my practice sessions, just as a reward if you like. And certainly, it all helps for sure. Thank you and have a wonderful holiday.
Wooooo girl this audio AND your playing is CLEAN AF. Much appreciated and I’m definitely coming back for more, this the kinda quality content I can learn from, now back to taking notes.
I just discovered you on YT while researching how to play Creep by Radiohead, and just wanted to express my appreciation for your drumming...clean, concise, in the pocket while serving the song. Needless, to say, I"m impressed!
@@katherinebraydrums I've already heard this vídeo so many times and is visível to realise your happiness when you are playing Drums! It's a pleasure watching you! Congratulations! ☺️
@@katherinebraydrums I now have a newfound appreciation for drummers after I tried it myself separating the arm movements and leg movements is very difficult and non organic and the muscle dexterity it takes omg, Congrats and keep up the good work ♥️
@@Macven Thank you so much! Nice to hear you appreciate it! Yeh I agree, it definitely does take work to get used to the coordination aspect of drumming and getting to the point where it feels like 2nd nature.
@@stuartellis7887 No but I do have a lot of students that do find it difficult. The speed is pretty fast for even an intermediate player. I've been playing for a while so I was familiar with similar grooves prior to learning the song. :) I find not burying the beater helps most people and playing a bit lower on the pedal (6/10th of the way up) with heel up

I struggle with this song, because I struggle to keep the hi hat consistent because of the bass pedal I end up playing the same thing on the hit hat. Any tips?
Hey, I would break the beat down, worry about playing the first 2 beats of 1 bar then when you are comfortable with that, play the rest of the bar. Play it very slowly at first, once you get the coordination down at a slow tempo then gradually speed it up. Hopefully that helps! I find breaking things down into smaller increments and really slowing the tempo helps everytime!
i’m very late but for me i just focused on thinking abt keeping hihat hand consistent like almost automatic rather than thinking abt my foot at all and naturally i managed to play it
My drumming was going OK Katherine until I tried to learn this song....I just find it impossible to get the kick drum right..on the a of 2 then 3 and....its knocked me back...I just can't get it
Hey Dave! I'm gonna post a comment I made on this video here that will help learning the beat for this song. @@katherinebraydrums thanks for the reply....I'm OK with it at about 75 to 80bpm.....once I go over that it just falls to pieces....I can't believe just adding that extra kick at the end of beat 2 makes it so bloody difficult arghhhh!! Lol...I'd be fine if it was just a kick drum on 1 and 3 and ha ha
@@davegill7614 Yeh its definitely a difficult kick drum pattern, you might need to practice it at 75-80bpm for a while before you can slowly speed up the tempo!
