It feels hot because Aluminum transfer heat from the electronics components to outside, it's bad for you but good for the camera. The problem is plastic that is insulator and keep the components cooking inside the camera.
I just got the SmallRig case - highly recommend it so far. I didn't realize that the case / shell has magnets built in and fits very well. I wish it came in black however - it is grey which is alright.
i have both the action2 and go2 as well .. to be frank, i think the go2 is a lot more fun to use (especially for beginners), but both are really good action cams. glad the camera tech is improving so much. waiting to see your comparison video. for voice command, i think need to enunciate "starT" and "stoP" very clearly =)
I wanted DJI action 2 to have their old camera (action 1) body with an upgraded processor, lens, battery, and so on. This is because people like me who daily do high-intensity activities, such as cycling and stuff, won't be comfortable using this DJI Action 2. For example, I attach this Action 2 to my bike, but if any kind of bump comes on the road, the Action 2 might detach from its magnet and I won't even know about it, cuz I will be in high speed riding my bike....hence, a big action cam body like GoPro is highly recommended.
Good review, however... in my opinion the only thing the insta go2 is competition it´s in size. I think a more fair comparison would be with the Gopro 10.
I want to know if the camera fall off when you wear it on your shirt? I do lots of running exercise, I need to know ASAP. Why DJi give only 32gb internal storage when 128gb is more fit in real life? Stop being cheap on storage DJi, more storage is not that expensive to put in this camera.
@@KaioshinAemi DJI advise that the pendant mount should be used for "leisure activities" rather than sport. But it does hold on remarkably well. It has holes for a lanyard so it wouldn't be hard to add a 'safety chain' to it.
Another great video. The zoom feature seemed to take your face slightly out of focus. Try to get your hands on the Thinkware Snap-G pocket gimbal camera when it becomes available. Would love to see what you think .

And with such incredible luck… it FELL exactly when I was crossing a small wooden bridge and right into the river water 😭😭😭 So, now I still have the front camera module and all the other accessories. So should I sell those parts or maybe wait for a sale and get another…. Unfortunately, they don’t just sell the camera unit itself. Also, I am not sure if I have the confident in it anymore. It branded as an action camera and the magnetic lanyard function was one of the driving feature which attracted me for the purchase. If it cannot handle the role of an action camera, they should put a big disclaimer saying the magnetic lanyard CAN ONLY BE USE for slowly walking and have a high chance of falling off with activities!! So I am pretty about that and how DJI advertise it as an action camera and with footage of its use with the lanyard being able to handle rigorous activities. Anyway, perhaps I should just sell the Dual Screen module and get a GoPro instead. As I said early on, the camera quality is very good but don’t rely on it as an action camera. DJI should take out that lanyard magnetic option to help others avoid the loss that I experienced with just moderate activities.

They do have the waterproof case Young. Also, that’s a beautiful location you’re in! Although if it gets scuffed anywhere near the lens its 💩 By Christmas I’ll be surprised if they don’t have a cage setup like they had with the GoPros.

My main issue with this camera is, the price.. $520 for a camera that does nothing more (and for the most part, less than) cameras that cost way less. Starting with the venerable GoPro Hero 10 at $449, Insta 360 Go 2 64gb at $329, not to mention the rest of the Insta cameras that are crazy better and at most are $100 more for the top line version. I have DJI FPV goggles and use the Air Units and Caddx/DJI stuff in my FPV drones, so I'm not a DJI hater, it's just this camera is waaay over priced for what it is..
It depends. If you are just into taking 4k videos, then probably not (i find 4k video quality just normal/standard - nothing spectacular).. if you want something magnetic, then you could consider it ;)
Magnetic mount will not work on carbon or aluminum bikes anyway. It would be nice to come up with sturdy straps with non-slip backings, possibly with some vibration damping for mounting onto creative positions on a bike.

I think if the power combo included the ball joint mount I would get that instead of insta360 go 2. However Black Friday deal allows for the Go 2 64 gb an extra lens protector and power mount adapter for $310. Anyone have input.... Action 2 or Go 2. I really don't care about the front facing screen on A 2, but like the idea of added microphones.
Wo:- It has webcam function. - but if you scratch the lenz the cam is damaged (no lenz cover - unlike Osmo Action). Not sure about the magnet idea. What if there's lots of iron filings where you're filming?

i was mostly using Rode Wireless Go 2 which can just record and save the voice inside its transmitter. i then processed the voice clip and put it on top of my video recording separately inside my video editor in post production.
Can you advise how to do overhead or top over shots please such as looking at an object from above and how to get the right orientation setting as well as close up/focus settings? Many thanks 😊

I don't know how is with overheating but you mantionned about it on the end of video. I think this camera can is not perfect cover for some dropped issues. @@Young360 the camera body is relatively HOT compare with DJI Osmo Action 1, the small rig case I using for extra protection and prevent me from touching hot surface. 😝 For my recording setting, I am using 2.7k 50 or 25 frame. So, even it is HOT surface, it didn’t stop recording from over heat. 😃 It depends on user which resolution or frame to set.
Is there any way to use the Action 2 for extended periods with the power module and "high" heat mode? Once it overheats and you swap a new power module or dual screen in does it "reset" the overheating or is it the main unit that needs time to cool down? Does an aluminum case dissipate heat at all? I'd like to use to for 1+ hour sessions, even if it means swapping in a new power module. If it's unable to I'll likely go with the hero10 + Enduro batteries.

@@Young360 Amazon had the duel screen version for $299USD! I got one to wear chest mounted and to use with my DJI mic, which plugs right in. I have the GoPro Hero 10 and ZV-1 too. I also have the A6400, but find the ZV1 easier to use with good lighting. Love your reviews! Keep up the good work!!
@@Young360 YES!! Obviously, the ZV-1 is a great alternative. With the defocus button engaged, the image is really close. It's a bit bulky for walking with though. I guess GoPro Hero 10 is the best on-the-go cam. I'm going to try Action 2, but curious if you have any tricks to brighten up the image. It looks a little dark in many reviews. Hero 10 is really good though.
I’ve heard from a couple of reviewers that this is next to unusable as it overheats at around 10 minutes of use EDIT: I just finished your video and you did experience overheating too but yours was when connected to a computer.
i will make a video about it...but basically, overheating is a big issue... when i am outside in a very cold weather(around 5 degrees C), it is ok... but then if i am inside a car or smth, it will stop after about 14mins....in 15~20 degrees C....
I am enjoying the Action 2 more and more for how convenient it is to use for my POV shots! Even better now that with the additional protective case, I'll be able to record longer videos without the Action2 overheating!

You can connect USB mics or an adapter for 3.5mm mics which has a USB output and which would work with Android phones - for instance the ATR2x-USB.
i dont have the workable usb adaptor so far...TT

memory card slot is only at the monitor. but i believe that the camera piece has internal memory

There is no such thing as “optical” zoom on this camera, it is digital zoom giving lower resolution.

Is there any way to use the Action 2 for extended periods with the power module and "high" heat mode? Once it overheats and you swap a new power module or dual screen in does it "reset" the overheating or is it the main unit that needs time to cool down? Does an aluminum case dissipate heat at all? I'd like to use to for 1+ hour sessions, even if it means swapping in a new power module. If it's unable to I'll likely go with the hero10 + Enduro batteries.
if you use it on a moving vehicle, as to have great ventilation to cool down the camera, you can use it for a long time.

Can you please compare the Actions 2 with the Osmo Pocket? and let us know if it Is worthwhile to upgrade?
i will at some point but these are two very different camera, and action 2 is not an upgrade from pocket 2.
@@Young360 both are portable high performance cameras, so how does one choose which one to get? the only main difference i can see is that Action 2 is waterproof.
Any updates on the Action 2? How has it been to use? Updates keeping pace? Overheating? I have a GoPro Hero 10, Insta 260 Go 2 and ZV-1. Debating if I should get the action 2. Prime Day has it for 45% off w/ the screen & protective case.

@@Young360 Amazon had the duel screen version for $299USD! I got one to wear chest mounted and to use with my DJI mic, which plugs right in. I have the GoPro Hero 10 and ZV-1 too. I also have the A6400, but find the ZV1 easier to use with good lighting. Love your reviews! Keep up the good work!!

@@Young360 YES!! Obviously, the ZV-1 is a great alternative. With the defocus button engaged, the image is really close. It's a bit bulky for walking with though. I guess GoPro Hero 10 is the best on-the-go cam. I'm going to try Action 2, but curious if you have any tricks to brighten up the image. It looks a little dark in many reviews. Hero 10 is really good though.

I’ve heard from a couple of reviewers that this is next to unusable as it overheats at around 10 minutes of use
EDIT: I just finished your video and you did experience overheating too but yours was when connected to a computer.
i will make a video about it...but basically, overheating is a big issue... when i am outside in a very cold weather(around 5 degrees C), it is ok... but then if i am inside a car or smth, it will stop after about 14mins....in 15~20 degrees C....
I am enjoying the Action 2 more and more for how convenient it is to use for my POV shots! Even better now that with the additional protective case, I'll be able to record longer videos without the Action2 overheating!
If the Action 1 came out later with better resolution it would be better in every way! It still is better in mulish opinion.
Curious to see you compare the Action 2 with the Gopro Hero 10.

Hello currently on amazon prime days the dji action 2 is at same price as GoPro hero8. What would be your recommandation ?
i havent used gopro hero 8... but i dont recommend dji action 2 due to overheating issue....

i had some overheating issue today when doing a hyperlapse......sigh... as for the mic, i need to get the mic adaptor esp for action2. i dont have...so, i could not connect an external mic to action 2.
