Stellar review as usual, but those slippery rock moon walking skills 09:52 are under appreciated.
@@harmonichealings sorry for watching the whole video 🤣🤣🤣💪✌
Jeven, one question for you. Have you tried comparing RS vs HS when using the same resolution and framerate? I see you compared 4K60 on A2 and 5.3K60 on the H10. 4K/60 on the HERO10 will allow you to shoot in High HyperSmooth. I believe that would be much more comparable? REmember that 5.3K60 only has Standard HyperSmooth available. Maybe that makes it more apples to apples comp?
I just want to give you one suggestion for the audio-test at the beginning - after each of u talk for some time, swap the 2 cameras and let us hear each of ur voice from the other. That would further improve ur already good comparrison imo. Otherwise good stuff, cheers for the review!
Can we zoom in and out on GoPro and can it be used with an external mic, please?
How about sound of single module?
Nicely done! I’m still rocking the GoPro 9 and just ordered the DJI! Can’t wait
hahahahah "how did I end up in alaska?" I was surprised how well the action 2 stabilizes in low light. Great video and you are welcome to come back up to alaska to do more crazy things anytime...
I like my Osmo Action 1. It never failed me and I did a lot of different video stuff with it, including macro shots with a replacement lens. It seems the Action 2 is much more specialized and a very different product. The Osmo Action 1 can still compete, it just reliably runs and runs and runs - love it!
One good thing about the Action 2's magnetic design is how easy it is to attach the cam from one accessory to the other! It's a step more efficient than using screws
I have a GoPro magnetic attachment from Ulanzi that works very very similar to this and it works really well.
Would magnetic design help attach it to a drone?
@@chefbelgium no lol I've only been using the magnetic attachment cause my tpu mount is in the mail and i trust it if its flying but one small crash and the cam flys off the mount.
its great for lighter activities, i wouldn't trust it for water or rougher activities
I’m finally getting the Action 2. Thanks to your reviews. DJI listened to the feedbacks and they now gave us a magnetic protective case for the Action 2.
Great comparison. I thought there wasn’t much differences that stood out. Both great results. Good thing that you brought attention to the issues with both cameras. I’m leaning to the Action 2 due to its compactness.
What was the highest outdoor temperature you used Action2 at? It's crutial. Was it at least above 25°C (77F)?
can't go wrong with either one of the cameras. both are very capable cameras. I just like the gopro because it's simpler and easier to use and has removable battery, lens cover and slots and ports in one single body. just like osmo action 1. ahem.
Seems like Gopro finally has worthy opponent. I've GP4 5 and 7, they all suffer from ocasional glitching; shutting off, freezing and not powering on. Most issues went away after swapping to aftermarket batteries though. Due to firm factor and accessories, the DJI will be my next cam for recording on my motorcycle.
Huge fan of your comparison reviews. Very detailed and helpful. DJI Action 2 stands out for me and today it now has a magnetic protective case which is a bonus!
Brother you talkin about stepping up your game! Thank you for all your hard work. I know the hard work involved with going out to beautiful places then having to turn around and edit.
Thank you!
I'm still a fan of the DJI Osmo Action 1, but if I should to choose between any GoPro cams and DJI Osmo Action 2, I'll take DJI with no doubt.
Gopro is 5k loser
Hi, I'm curious which camera has higher bitrate in the video files. This will probably vary for the different resolutions and framerates, but is a good indicator for the processor speed.
Awesome work guys! I really like the fact you went on location and do real shooting instead of just test shoot in an ideal environment.
I still use Hero 7 Black since it released. My thought was the freezing issue got sorted out with newer versions and definitely in Hero 10. But, WTF!!!! It's still there!!!!
I agree with you. It's extremely annoying when it freezes and can ruin your work literally.
Not sure why GoPro hasn't addressed that issue even with better processors now!!!
I recently bought the GoPro9 Black camera, I'm worried what will happen to the battery if I don't use the camera for a while. Will it get swollen and die? I hade a smaller cheaper camera before, that battery swelled up so I could hardly take it out of the camera. These are LiPo batteries, right?
Thanks for a great overview of the action 2! I would love to know your personal experience on using the action 2 with the screen mod in the rain and wet outdoor environment, as DJI states that the power or screen mods are not waterproof. How concerned were you when the units were wet?
I think when comparing stabilization you should use the same resolution & frame rate. That makes a difference in the exported look, in my opinion.
That was a fully packed review on both cameras! Both are good in my opinion for their own unique situations.
Love your videos man. Bought me a drone this summer and I'm definitely still a beginner but your videos have helped me a lot. Still looking into buying an action cam and at first I was a bit disappointed by the price and form factor of the DJI Action 2 but now that I've seen some of the reviews out there, it might actually be something good (not the price :)).
how is it with neon lights. I have an action camera that takes really bad shots when inside shopping malls with artificial light. Which one of these two cameras hold better under the artificial neon light of the malls and underground paths?
Both are great cameras. I believe this video shows the need to have both cameras as they are both #1 in different areas. I already have the GoPro 9 and don’t see the need to upgrade, but I will be grabbing an Action 2.
I just got a Hero 10 on October 29th, upgraded the firmware and on October 31st took it out to Anza Borrego firmly mounted to the dash of my 4Runner. Among other shots, I ran the Hero 10 at 5K 60fps with boost stabilization for 21.5 min and later for 29 min just letting the camera roll while I drove. The a/c was on in the 4Runner, but not going out the defrost vents. The outside temp was 91F. I had no overheating problems at all. Sure it got warm but never quit on me. The images of the landscape were rock steady and the horizon level even when I was off camber while going over obstacles. All to be expected from that camera or the A2. Just thought I'd report regarding my experience with the GP H10 and overheating which can be quite frustrating. As far as which cam I think is best from your demos, they are both great and each seem to excel in different situations. By the way, thanks for all your great content - it's been very helpful.
For filming fishing, on generally bight days, would you recommend the dji, the GoPro, or the insta one r with one inch mod Jeven?
I’ve had very good days using my action out fishing
Excellent comparison! At the end of the day, just pick one and go with it. Sometimes we beat ourselves to death trying to make a decision when in the end, it's not going to make much of a difference.
Will the overheating issue be a firmware fix. I was looking at getting the Action 2 until I read about this issue.
??Which of these cameras when used for stock video in daylight settings will pass muster with ShutterStock?

İ need one who has 2 or 4 hrs recording time in 1080p for spearfishing. i stay 4 hrs in the sea and no chance to change the batary in the sea.. i have no idea which has long life in batary life? Can u suggest any model to me? Thanks
Great review, thats why I keep subscribed to your channel.
Suggestion: when comparing and reviewing cameras you really should use if not matching shots, at least the same scenario. I really wanted to see that off-road driving footage from GoPro 10!
I train horses, a lot of fast moving and jerky. I like the feature of the DJI 2 that fixes the horizon I was wondering if that would be a better feature for me to have. Thoughts?
Can you compare the action 2 with its predecessor the osmo action? Is it worth upgrading?
hola amigo
muy buena comparativa
¿cual me recomiendas para hacer motovlog, principalmente grabando rutas con audio en moto?

Thanks Jeven - you have helped me make my mind up ..... my GoPros are going !
Another stellar review! 8 years of film school and 30 years in the business and I'm so excited about the badass tools at our disposal these days!! I own a Hero 10, Pocket Cinema 6k, Sony A6400, Air 2s, and it looks like an Action 2 and DJI Mic is in my future. I hope you make it to 1M subscribers!
Hi, I'm interested in filming with my kids, activities with them. I need clarity on video and filming in general to be as clear as possible on the face, toys, objects. An easy-to-control camera with good stabilization (educational activities) and 4K 60fps / 120fps filming are enough. But I am interested in people being as clear as possible, with natural colors. What do you recommend ? Thank you.
Hi
With gopro do you have to have the subscription? Can you use it and the app without subscription?
What’s the best for low light in linear mode? Ty
Amazing review bro 👏
I have had the same problems as Jeven with my new GoPro as far as it freezing and shutting off with battery left. I also had numerous SD card errors, with the SD card provided by GoPro causing me to lose shots. Great review by Jeven
That was me on the Hero 9 with the 32G card the camera came with. Ever since I went to Samsung EVO cards ($18 locally), I've not had an issue and I have 2 of them. Both Samgungs are 128G capacity. Mine was I lost a couple of chapters within a clip. I don't shoot for hours at a time, and most of my clips are maybe 10 minutes long all told as I stop down, start up for each segment of a shoot. I do occasionally loose the connection to the app when using, but not always. Not had any overheating issues in that it constantly did so. I may have had it overheat once and it does get quite warm though.
I do think some things are human error caused by not fully understanding the camera itself.
the frame at 6:56 tells you everything you need to know. DJI's product seems rushed and not mature enough to be considered an actual GOPRO competitor. They don't even include a standard threaded mount for the DJI really tells you everything you need to know about the thought of the product.
Can you elaborate a little? I'm not seeing it at that time code. The acton 2 lacks a little of the fine detail, but it overall is a more pleasing image to my eye. The go pro looks over sharpened and harder to work with in the larger frame. As for the threaded mount comment, I'm in a wait and see state, we shouldn't be too quick to judge the failure rate of the mag mount, but it's definitly a concern.
They do include a threaded ball type mount.
@@DavidBeechfieldBrownArt how is that different from the go pro option though? And you can still get an Action 2 mount adapter to go pro 1/4 20 giving you the same options, yes?
@@MrMoviePhoneEx No the GoPro looks much better! And my girlfriend sitting next to me agrees you can clearly see it in the video footage at high resolution.
If I want to use for POV street or POV wedding day (usually long recording) is it worth getting the action 2? Considering the overheating problem. Or should I get GoPro instead?
I’m wondering the same .. Hope somebody gives us their feedback
Here comes the time in the year when I state " I own a here 7 black and will continue rocking it for one more year!" Still giving me really great results!!!
This was a great review! 🙌🏾
It was.
Great review it's very informative on the differences. Thank you for sharing.
Which is best deal to buy with external mic
Great job comparing these two cameras. Your videos are always professional and informative. Keep up the good work.
Nice review 😀
I have to say I'm disappointed in the action 2 as a kayak Angler I was hoping it would have the ability to use a external mic and USB power bank at the same time...how hard could it be to include a 3.5mm jack?
Maybe they will come out with a power module that has one in the future but not holding my breath LOL
That's dope you guys got a chance to collaborate. After looking at your comparisons, I like the image on the Hero 10 better.

That ice cave looks like a good place for a grizzly bear to hideout
I recently purchased the Hero10, upgrading from Hero7 and I am blown away from its quality image!
I like the Action2 size and magnetic mount, but after seeing this review if I would have to buy a camera now I would still go with the Hero10.
Great helpful review, thanks so much for sharing it
How about the battery life test on both? Does action 2 with module has a much longer battery? That $75 for one battery is just too much compared to $20 each. And recharging is also an issue cause it's hard to recharge 2,3,4 modules at the same time. Also the storage space and weight.
Thank you Jeven for this useful review. You Rock.
I have a go pro hero 8, its a great camera but the original one I had stopped working altogether, Go pro sent me a new one, thanks for the comparison I am strongly tempted to get the DJI action 2 due to its size and a better stabilization, in due course of time I am sure it will improve by new firmware updates.
worth watching review! thanks for this. I may shift to either sports cam soon. Video is so smooth. Suave! Still using my SJ8Pro for now.
how about the gopro's audio? Does it still have issues like the 9 with clicks and pops in the audio? Cause thats a big con and a reason ill likely never buy another gopro camera.
Can we zoom in and out on GoPro and can it be used with an external mic, please?
What is best?
Thank you for good videos.
There are so many different types of ND filters that fit the GoPro Hero 10. My question is which one is the best, it's not a question of the price but from which company is the best.
There are from Sandmarc, variable ND filters. Tiffen has 3 ND filters plus 1 Polarid filter. Polar pro Shutter Collection, Neewer 4 pack filter ND and Telesin has Circular Polarizer Filter. Maybe there are some other filters that are better?
Grateful for answers.
I honestly feel overall the Osmo Action 1 is still better. Feels more sturdy and love the 2 screens and removable lens cover.
Same here!
Same here and I’ve never had a problem with it overheating either.
Same here. I had a $250 credit with DJI, so I pulled the trigger on the A2…..guess I could use it for B roll…
I kind of agree, but also, despite being called Action "2", I don't believe it is designed to replace the 1st one. Instead, it is a new camera system, with the Action name. Its good for consumers though, as we have the choice to purchase either types.
@@MbKTheGLow yeah that’s kind of how I see it. Modular for different uses. I think for the general person that might want to take it to catch some clips of action type shots it will be a great camera. I still love the Osmo Action and hope they maybe revise it one day and keep the same body style.
hi is theres an update about your DJI AC 2? some says it has an overheating issue
Hi, which do you think is better for scuba diving? The Dji or the gopro?
This is the best possible and proper DJI action 2 review. Good Work!
Very good comparison and good points totally agree that both look better in certain shots so it's hard really to pick one over the other. The question I have is how is the app for the DJI action? The GoPro app has become super helpful on the road when wanting to do quick edits and export them directly to the iPhone in 4k whereas with the DJI Air2 all my cool 4k shots are downsampled to 1080p when exporting from the app which sucks and makes it so you really have to do the edits on the macbook
Hi wich one wuould you get for helmet mount and atv action shot. thanks in advance and awesome video
Latest update is that DJI's giving a heat-control protective case for the Action 2. I'm curious to know which betwen these 2 will be able to record longer then!
I wounder what all pro filmers on UA-cam does with their GoPros, because my GoPros never freezes or looses videos?
For Overlanding I just use a DJI Pocket 2 with the do it all handle, scosche mini magnetic plate on the back of the main body (the one they sell for smart phones) and any of the scosche (or any brand) magnetic mounts for your dashboard, like the suction cup with magnetic mount. It will hold the pocket 2 with ease (even in rough terrain) and you can flip the gimbal with ease back towards you to get a in cab POV, then back out towards the trail. I ran it in Utah at the MotorTrend Overland Adventure 2021 on my dashboard at 4k 24 and it never overheated or failed (also kept it plugged in charging while in use so it was ready when I hopped out of the cab). Then you can grab it and go super quickly and have a small gimbal camera. Since the Action 2 doesn't have a replaceable lens cap, I would prefer the GoPro on any mounting solution outside the cab while in motion.
Dang it! I had no idea you were up here in Alaska with @jakesloan. Hope you had a great trip!
I have been testing the dji action 2 and it overheats even with 1080 60 fps, think the early production might mean there is still differences between what comes out
Judging from how it was with Action 1, DJI will release a steady stream of software updates to Action 2 and over the course of the year the image quality will improve drastically, new functions will be added, while bugs removable by software will disappear.
How can image quality improve?
That was a great comparison of the cameras thank you for doing that I would give the edge to the DJI action 2
Can't wait to pick up a DJI action 2 for my self
Great video man! Quick question: what’s the selfie stick you have there for the action cam 2?
can you copy data from the main modules internal memory to the secondary units memory card?
Would like to see how a iPhone 13 Pro Max as this is my video camera and looking to get the action 2. Also still photos?
I noticed that DJI Action 2 looks superb in low light and stabilization too. The GoPro needed to be on the boosted mode to make it as stable as the DJI Action 2.
Hi, I too had the format accident! It was not turned on in my pocket. when I turned it on, the first thing I saw was the yellow storage icon, then the format confirmation page, then it formatted the memory. All that in super fast sequence, without me touching the screen! Maybe some dirt/sweat on the display? I lost a few videos, but not a big deal. But it is scary if it happens after a full day adventure... :(
I lost so much footage. An entire vlog I shot about the camera... I hope they change this soon
I got the A2 but left unpacked after I start saw so many negative reviews of overheating and limited battery life besides the dependency of the power module. So I am thinking to return the A2 not what I expected.
I see a ton of weird artifacts coming from the GoPro in the cave. Strange
I’ve had far to many issues with every GoPro I’ve ever owned. I’m very excited to get my A2C.
Great stuff 👍
I choked up when you said it formatted itself 😅🤣
Hi,
Great video. Wich one has the loudest beeps? Thanks.
11:26 I have the same problem with gopro9 so i doubt they will fix it since the 10 has the same issues as 9 I saw all the issues in 10 from 9 they didn't fix anything, i've also had couple of cameras from them that they send me with the same problems.
Thanks, this is a good comparisson. Doing outside footage on a plane - I think the DJI is the worse choice - or? If I mean plane mounitng with speed below 250 km/h.
there's shots that look better on GoPro and others that look better on DJI. I ordered the DJI because I place availability and size high at the top of my priorities list. Can't wait to try it out
Hi Jeven...great stuff as usual. The GoPro 10 Black has it's place like you said and is still my preferred camera for FPV. It's still KING when combined with ReelSteady GO. The ACTION 2 is nice as well but not best for super smooth FPV footage. Especially since you can't pull the ACTION 2 footage into ReelSteady Go. Really enjoyed that helicopter footage (colors really looked great). That 'red' against the landscape was a nice combo.
Absollutly disagree. Go pro was never the best. There was too much problem with it always.
On the surface the footage both produce is really good. In my case, I am flying 300g fpv drones so the extra 100g that the GoPro has in mass overnight the DJI (top half) makes it an easy choice. Formatting the drives in the DJI now requires a swipe after pressing a button.
My action 2 just arrived and any shooting with 1080 / 60 is overheating within five minutes shooting and afterwards need to cool a long time before can be used longer than a minute 🤔 besides that big issue everything is fine 😢😭
Reminder that the GoPro HERO10 has 2.7K/240 as well.
Thank you for addressing the reliability issues. GoPro has let me down so much.
To me the GoPro footage looks better, more sharpness, color saturation, and detail. Also, the Action 2 gets quite distorted on the edges of the frame. Yes, the FOVs are different, but the narrower FOV of the GoPro seems generally more usable.
Excellent Tutorial Video, and Information! While Watching Your Comparison Footage, I Definitely Could See The Differences Between Both Cameras. Some shots Of The Go Pro 10 Were Better, and Some Shots Of The Action 2 Were Better.
Thank You For All Of Your Hard Work! I Really Like Your Videos Jeven, and Truly Appreciate Your Honesty!
Great informative review.
I have the Osmo Action 1 and I like it better than GoPro 7 and 8. This round, DJI still has better color imo but it's the gimmicky magnetic mount and the wider fov (I know it's a plus for lots of people) that ruined it for me. And may I know the background music in for the last test footage?
A Great Video , Thank you
Thank you for the review. Camera fan here.
I think what you’re missing is using it for water sports.
1. None of the modules are waterproof. It severely limits you on your storage and battery life.
2. The magnetic attachment system won’t be great for things like. Surfing, waterskiing, or jet skiing.
3. If use a waterproof case, then you have to deal with condensation in the case.
The main unit is waterproof and it contains a 32 GB memory module.
