100% agreed, my so called target retirement fund in 401k had absolutely terrible return compared to sp500. I moved all to sp500 but biggest regret of my life I didn't do it sooner..What else is best way for me to invest 200k in a non-retirement account?
I would avoid index funds, mutual funds, and specific stocks for the time being. Right now, the best option is a fixed income of five percent.

Right, a lot of folks downplay the role of advisors until being burnt by their emotions, no offense. During the covid-outbreak, I needed a good boost to stay afloat, hence researched for advisors and thankfully came across one with grit. As of today, my portfolio has grown by 25% every quarter since Q3 2020.

I have a 3 fund portfolio consisting of 33% S&P, 33% Total stock, and 33% international. I feel a need to focus on complete growth so I went 100% stocks, but does the SP500 and TSM overlap too much to make sense holding both? However I’ve been in the red for a month now. I work hard for my money, so investing is making me a nervous sad wreck. I don’t know if I should sell everything, sit and just wait but watching my portfolio of $450k dwindle away is such an eye -sore.
There are many other interesting stocks in many industries that you might follow. You don't have to act on every forecast, so I'll suggest that you work with a financial advisor who can help you choose the best times to purchase and sell the shares or ETFs you want to acquire.
I agree, that's the more reason I prefer my day to day investment decisions being guided by an advisor seeing that their entire skillset is built around going long and short at the same time both employing risk for its asymmetrical upside and laying off risk as a hedge against the inevitable downward turns, coupled with the exclusive information/analysis they have, it's near impossible to not out-perform, been using my advisor for over 2years+ and I've netted over 2.8million.

Actually pretty straight up guy. Very simple answer that you don’t understand.
He does say something and does another if they ask about specific stocks but ive noticed he doesn't lie about his view on the economy or market in general.
He's actually pretty honest. But the thing to be cognizant of is that what he says applies for the average joe. What he does is different because he's had decades of experience and is just flat out better than the average joe. He tells you to park your cash in the S&P 500 because chances are good you (or your advisor) aren't smart enough to beat the S&P 500. Buffet, on the hand, HAS beaten the S&P 500 and he's willing to bet that he can do it again.

So why the hell would anyone tie up money for 10 years at the same rate-- SLIGHTLY HIGHER, actually-- than I got for 9 days?
If rates don't rise and stay the same/fall the 10 year will have a higher yield that's all. When you buy short term and they mature and re-bought you could be getting a lower yield. I personally would buy short term tho.

Why the S&P500 and not indexes from Japan, UK, Europe, and others? Because US stocks have done the best in the entire world, but that used to be true for Japan, but in the last 2-3 decades Japan has returned a measly 1.6% per annum

Good point. He's just talking macro economically about equites in the long term. He holds cash because he has the expertise of valuing companies, and needs that capital for specific positions. He believes diversification is "protection against ignorance".
What I'm trying to say is, he's not talking about buying the S&P to imply that's the smartest thing for him do with his money, he's simply talking about buying the S&P to imply that equities will outperform other asset classes in the long term in respect to where the economy is at today.

You want to make money? Purchase multi family apartment buildings in Hispanic neighborhoods. Good renters, no section 8 bullshit. 6 unit class C buildings will yield over 25% IRR with over a 10% cap rate. Put down 20% with a good lender and be patient. Each one of those buildings you purchase will generate 23k a year in net operating income. It does not seem like much. But with inflation, 20 years later they are worth over 4x the amount and developers will offer you a ridiculous amount of money to tear them down. This worked out well in my family's favor.
