- Jesus quotes Isaiah 61:1-2 during what many people see as the very start of his ministry, the Nazareth Manifesto. What can his choice tell us about Jesus's mission, and our mission as Jesus's followers? For one, it reminds us that the Advent hope is a trinitarian hope. God sends Jesus as the servant figure, equipped with God's spirit, to bring about the promised restoration and healing. Jesus extends this vocation to the church, as we ourselves are equipped with God's spirit and enabled to be people of Advent hope. How can you bring a hopeful light to dark places this Advent season?

Someone once described hope as an anchor taken from the past and thrown into the future which pulls us through the present. That sounds like the hope that sustains faith. Out of the past we have this promise of what will be which keeps us going. Hope. Advent hope.

Hi Dr Write. Just to add one more important fact in the word of God most Theological scholars fail to understand the scriptures in the old testament, where God says , I spoke to Isreal and Jacob heard me. In my understanding by studying it very diligently, it means God almighty spoke to the believing Jews and the unbelieving Jews also heard it. Personally I think it’s very blatant and theological scholars don’t understand it or ignore it. Stay blessed. ✝️🩸🙏.
At the beginning of the ministry of the Son of Man, just after leaving the waters of the Jordan River, the vision of the Sublime Wind denotes the message of a dove. Some say that the dove symbolizes peace, however Jesus the Anointed did not come to bring peace, others affirm other definitions. I favor the Mosaic covenant in which the Son lived, and specifically the offering of the dove that was offered on the altar of the temple in Jerusalem. And who were the individuals who offered that offering? They were the poorest of Israel who could not afford to offer a head of cattle. When the text in question from Isaiah and Luke has mentioned to which people the Holy Spirit sends the Son, (to the oppressed to the disadvantaged) I have connected the baptism of Jesus Christ with the vision of the dove with the prophetic text of Isaiah.
Hi Dr Write. Greetings in the risen Lord Jesus Christ. I have been listening to some of your lectures and enjoyed them. The very important question , I need to ask you is , can you prove that you are a Gentle from the word of God. Personally, I don’t think you can. I was told practically all my life, that I am a Gentle and believed it. But after reading Ephesians chapter 2 many times and other passages from the old and New Testament, I come to a conclusion that I am a inhabitant of the world according to Prophet Isaiah in the book of Isaiah 26/9. @@NTWrightOnlineHow does this passage fit into the bigger story of the Bible you talk about? Why did Mathew reference ch. 7 in his gospel and what did he want us to take from it? It is such a controversial passage that I once got a lot of encouragement from, and now I don't know if I even understand it correctly.
Interpreting Scripture in light of historical context and with understanding the mindset of the original audience takes time, patience, and an open mind. Sometimes, a shift in approach can open up new insights and understanding.
