Hey, my dad played guitar on that song! He's the one with the Flying V guitar in the video! Ethan Collins AKA "Sugar Brown". It's funny that i found this video today, which would have been his 57th birthday. Unfortunately he passed away in 2016. I'm so glad this song is getting some recognition!
My brother and I grew up with Mike Caldarella in Flushing before they started. Went to elementary and middle school together...Mike and my brother Chris were good friend back then.
This band used to play the circuit in Queens/New York, and what you see in that video and the fun they had was literally like that at every show. I can tell you at the end of every show they had all their friends on stage all dancing. It was always a riot to watch, they were just kids and they had the time of their lives. This video was THE soundtrack - on a loop on MTV that year. It was the bumper you'd here in an out commercials and different features. We were so proud of them. Ethan the guitarist played with a great bluesy vibe and was a very nice guy, we chatted a quite a few times about guitars. RIP Sugar Brown. Dave is still out there singing ...and still sounds great.
I have loved this band since 92, when a friend from the USA brought me their CD. I think I was probably the only fan of this band in Central Europe at that time. I also bought their other CDs and the other two titles were missing from my collection. but recently I became friends on Facebook with the singer Dave Alvin, to whom I described my affection for his band since 92 and asked him where I could get the remaining 2 CDs, which cannot be bought anywhere. And what did Dave Alvin do? As a loyal fan in Central Europe (Czech Republic), he sent me these two missing CDs as a gift. Amazing! I think I'm the only person in Europe who has the complete discography of White Trash. 🤩
In a world of redundancy, White Trash was the most original band out at the time. The energy you see is exactly what they brought live. I caught them in the early nineties in Charlotte, NC. I've seen hundreds of bands since, some forgotten, but I remember WT like it was yesterday. Bad-ass....no doubt!!!!
I was 14 when this came out and my sister and I loved White Trash. The guys are super sweet too. Very much miss Ethan Collins. When his brother Aaron announed his passing I couldn’t believe it. They were a big part of my childhood. So glad you enjoyed the song!!!!
I highly recommend you listening to the first album (self-titled) in its entirety. It is one of those albums I’ve been able to go back to over and over throughout the years. The whole album is catchy as hell, well written, and produced beautifully. The follow-up (with a different lineup minus Dave) is also outstanding.
Hi!! Back in 1990, a good friend was working nights at 7-11 in Florida. He heard this song on the radio and bought the cassette tape. He played the song for me (I’m in NJ) and told me they were from Queens. I bought the cassette and my friends and I looked at the East Coast Rocker/Aquarian looking for dates they were playing. We drove all over seeing these guys play. They were beyond an EXCELLENT live band. Every show was a huge party atmosphere. Everyone always had a fantastic time. A girlfriend and I became friends with Terry, the sax player over time. All the guys were and are phenomenally talented and very nice people. I must say, out of the hundreds of bands I have seen live back then, these guys were one of the absolute best. They should have gone much further in the industry than they did. I’ll always love White Trash- they were always fun. I have a suggestion if you read this- check out Mr Reality- a three piece acoustic band from Asbury Park, NJ. A few songs for you to choose from- In My Yard, Waiting For September, If I Close My Eyes. These guys should have gone all the way, too. The singer used to cover The Heart of the Matter, by Don Henley- it was always incredible. There’s a live performance recording on UA-cam if you wanted to watch them on their stools at The FastLane in Asbury Park.
I saw the video in 92, on Headbanger's Ball if I remember right, was immediately hooked but back then it was almost impossible to find the album anywhere.
Hi! Your video just popped up in my feed, probably because I have previously searched for (a) reaction videos and (b) this song. This was the band's only real hit, and got played on MTV quite a bit back in the day even though they were never sure where it fit (buzz bin, headbanger's ball, alternative nation...). I saw the band live in '92 in a club with maybe a dozen other people. If you read the Wiki article you know the band members squabbled and their second album is the same lead singer with none of the original founding members. They reunited a few years ago until the lead guitarist passed away from a heart attack. Thanks for reacting and I'm glad you liked it. For what it's worth, the version of the song on the album is a different take from the video -- it's a little faster and, in my opinion, much better. Keep rockin' and reacting!
Oooh good to know I will go and listen to the album version! Hope there is more on my channel that interests you! if not feel free to make a suggestion!
The quality isn't bad because it's old, it's bad because it's clearly dumped down from someone's VHS tape. The original film as played on Mtv is very high quality. That's one of the sad things about older media today, the only copies we have are from randos uploading their old video tapes. The companies who own these should release digitally transferred copies. By the way, pretty much all of their songs are catchy and fun like this. One of my other favorites is "Senorita".
I Ashlena, one of my favorite fusion band back in the 90's. Their 2 first albums are great feel good music. Unexpected good surprise réaction. 🤘 You can take "judge me do" ,"Take my soul" or "Minor happiness", but every songs on the first 2 LP is gold for me ! ❤
Excellent band. I followed them from the start. Back in the days of ACTUAL Music Television I couldn’t wait for the video to come on. I spent my 20’s in Queens and was fortunate to hear them rehearsing next door, but I never got to see them live. The first two albums remain on my Spotify Playlists today. The singer is also a super chill dude who is really nice.
I remember when this was all over MTV for a few weeks in late '91 or so. I was like 10 years old and asked for the CD for my birthday. I love the whole album but it's kinda hard to go back to the video version of this since it was recorded live so it's not as tight as the version on the album.
Another reason why the 90's were the best! So much great music in different styles. Never heard of this band, but what a great fun song! I am defintly going to see if they are on Spotify.
My introduction to White Trash was Headbangers ball. Apple Pie was the single and I absolutely loved the Bad Ass Brass. I worked in a club in Salisbury Mass. We had the guys come play and WOW! What a great high energy show. "Take My Soul" and "Lil Nancy" are great songs. Sadly the lead Guitarist Ethan "Sugar Brown" Collins passed away. He was a really nice guy and actually showed me how to play some of his stuff. This band got screwed and it is sad. They should have been promoted and played more. Love this record and I still listen to it on the regular.... Check it out if you haven't.
Went to Queens College at the same time and met lead singer Dave a couple of times at parties and through mutual friends. They were a couple of years ahead of me, but have loved them since their debut album came out. The song The Crawl from that record was the theme song for Jon Stewart’s original first TV show. It’s a great track. But the reality is, the entire album kicks ass. If you liked Apple Pie (a different version, a little more up tempo and faster is on the album), then you will dig the entire album, I’m sure of it.
Not trying to give away my age lol, but I saw them play at a few battle of the bands in a High School in Flushing, NY (late 80's maybe 🤷♀). Actually had crushes on both the Collins brothers 😊
Wow I totally forgot about this song I remember when it came out it was so different I went out and bought the cd just for this song:) loved the reaction:)
OMG this takes me back to freshman year of high school! The funk rock/metal of the early 90's! There was also a lot of humor in rock and metal back then. If you like his voice, you might like Mark Slaughter. Check out "Fly to the Angels" by Slaughter.

Awww I’m so sorry for your loss. I’m regard to you finding this video Everything happens for a reason 🥰 maybe a song from him that’s he’s okay 🥰🥰
I saw them in concert at the Ritz in Detroit back then. I remember your dad tearing it up! The whole band was extremely talented.
Your dad was an awesome guy - I'm sure you know that. I knew him as a teenager and he was always kind and always funny. He is missed.
My brother and I grew up with Mike Caldarella in Flushing before they started. Went to elementary and middle school together...Mike and my brother Chris were good friend back then.
My big bro is the singer! I loved your dad!
This whole album freaking KILLS! Don't stop at just the "hit", you will NOT be disappointed!

GREAT band! Saw them at Bonnie's Roxx back in the day! Love me a good horn section!!
You should find their song S. D. A. S. E. next!

HEY! I'm the guitarist's son! I'm so happy someone recognized my father!

White Trash was a great band. I saw them at Lighthouse Park in New Haven back in the 90s.

They’re so kind! Not sure who from the band is messaging me but they’re sending me a tshirt 🥹 so kind
Such a fun song! Saw them many moons ago and they were fantastic live!

Ha! Went to high school with these guys! Used to see them play regularly at a few local places back in the day!
They are awesome! They even sent me a tshirt!!!!
I'm glad I'm not the only one who remembers this great song. (Still have the CD)
Unusual instruments and beat did it for me. Vocals so-so.
Another reason why the 90's were the best! So much great music in different styles. Never heard of this band, but what a great fun song! I am defintly going to see if they are on Spotify.
One of my favorite albums to this day!!! Still own it, still listen to it!!!!!!
Love it!!!
The hook in this is undeniable.

There will be a song by Aurora called Your Blood coming out on November 8th, you have to listen to it!!
I will!!!
A most amazing song and great band 🥰

Thanks!
Reminds of walk this way 🤩🤩🤩
I Loved this band and I love this CD. (I still have 2 CDs from 1991) The whole CD is awesome. WT is an OG, Not another band like them.

Pretty good! His voice reminds me of the singer from Ugly Kid Joe's lead signer..
I don’t even know that band lol
@@ashlenamusic They did a cover of Cats in the Cradle in 1992, it's a very good song that you've probably heard on the radio...
Yup I’ve heard that song before
Headbangers Ball classic 👌🏾 😎 but another metal band who is vocaly close like them is Saigon Kick
Never heard them before... I'm guessing they weren't very big in Canada. Interesting though.
I've never heard of them either haha
This is different from the album version I think.
😂 I had fun... 🎉 and please, don't forget Dimash 😉
More coming!
