These are a great series of videos. I have a guitar with a Sustainiac pickup. I set it to drone on the low E, then used a delay to create feedback. That shit can get real loud, real fast. Andrej is serious when he mentions gain staging the output. Don't fuck around, y'all.
Totally! I put a warning at the beginning of every video specifically for that reason: it's not a joke. It can hurt your ears, and that's something to avoid!
I need to play around with it more but the Line 6 Pod can be pretty interesting. Make presets for certain feedbacks and cycle through is chaotic but pretty cool
Another great tutorial, well done Andrej. That Waldorf filter really is a great piece of kit. I have been using a Gristliser and a EHX Blurst to modulate feedback and basic diy drone synths, along with a lot of cheap used modulation pedals. I find ones that can run really slowly are more useful. Looking forward to your next video.
Thanks! Yes, that filter it is a super useful tool with many different applications. But of course you can use any other type of filter (also software ones are super nice).
It's easy to get hung up on the whole cheating thing. I think the point is the rule book no longer exists. I often add input to my no input sessions. Sometimes I feel like I'm cheating, I then have a word with myself.
@@stuartchapman5171 I meant because it is so damn easy since filters are designed to go into self-oscillation. I feed back into my Moogs all the time. (:
Sometimes I wonder if the devices I am using, if all the controls are actually working, because like the Sansui mixer I used for a couple things, I literally found in the trash. I have a casio ctk-630 keyboard, I know all the controls on that work, I wonder if I can do no input feedback loops with that.
was the "joke" techno clip from 0:33 produced with your NIMB setup? would be pretty cool to see some more like that, get to a Toshimaru Nakamura goes Takkyu Ishino kind of zone.
Not really hahaha, it is just a basic sample loop with a kick drum and a bass synth. But yeah, there is plenty of possibilities to produce something in the techno style with no input techniques. For example my last album "Destroy Everything, Destroy Everyone" has a lot of those moments (even if the 4 on the floor is shifted with a lot of polyrithms)
@@sporn23 Not really on hardware (I use vcv rack), but using feedbacks and no input techniques is very similar to a modular system, if you combine more stuff together.
Yeah it depends a lot on the mixer and how it's the circuit I guess. Some mixers can make pretty slow pulses, others not. But I found it is super easy to do slow pulses with a graphic equalizer, because you have just one feedback loop, no interactions with other feedbacks, and a lot of control on the pitch given by all the different eq bands (which are basically volume controls for specific range of frequencies).
@@AndreijRublev thx for that, I found something similar, by going one click into the insert point I could make a simple feedback loop that guest like 125 bpm
If you accept and embrace the inehernt limitations of no input techniques (unpredictability, instability, etc) you can definetely do a lot of stuff with them 😊
In my opinion It's not about how much gear you have (I got a lot of stuff during the last 10 years tbh) but if you have a musical or practical purpose for it and how you use it ;)
@@AndreijRublev I agree. I've been experimenting with sound for a long time so I've amassed a lot of gear, each piece of equipment having its own peculiarities and uses. Although I'd read about no input techniques I hadn't experimented with it until seeing your inspiring videos, so a big thank you to you.

Thank you! You too!
That Jam at the end was sick. Miko Vaino vibes :)
Thank you so much! Happy you like it!
i cant wait to have a safe space to practice again, going to get back to my jams with some of this stuff again.
Let's go!
I was excited when you posted about this video on IG but it was even more fun than I expected! Inspiring as always.
Thank you! Super happy you enjoyed it!
I came in late but that fucking rocked!
My cats flee the room.
Creating a feedback loop in my 2-Pole almost feels like cheating.
(:
A lovely way of cheating

Exactly, there are no rules, just a creative process that can go in any direction!

Self oscillating filters are super nice. Every different circuit has it's own sound!
Brilliant stuff!

Also, at the end of the previous video (the "Your EQ Is a Synth" one) there is some sort of techno track with a 4/4 rythm for example.
Super industrial noise vibes
I was watching this video on x1.25 speed by accident, but it actually sounds like really good hardcore.
Cool! I never use that function! Should totally try to do it more often hahaha
