SQUARE ENIX, GIVE ME A PROPER 358/2 REMAKE, AND MY LIFE IS YOURS!
A fan is already working on a KH2 mods for this. Square has abandoned this one don't rely on them
And Re:Coded
There's also Melonmix. Which makes those two games better.
@@asra-5180 I use that and it works so well!
Just give me a port. I would be happy with just a port
You know those Possesor heartless? That attack when they latch onto you is nil-type, as well as the "poison" clouds the Leechgrave produces. So with 100% nil resist, you become completely immune to Possesors, and can ignore the poison during the Leechgrave fight. However, 0 damage is still counts as taking a "hit", meaning in challenge missions with the "don't get hit" challenge will still fail you for no-selling nil-type attacks.
came to say, nothing was worse than getting shoe glued by the dustflier and just kind of dying as a result
Remaking this game into a movie was the biggest Sins of Square Enix
5:48 ,Actually there's a third way to nullify a status condition in Day's but this is a option only privy to mission mode.
Each Organization XIII member has a built in resistance that scales with their level from 10-100% (ex. Axel has Ignite res, Xaldin wind-toss etc)
Very well edited video btw.
Yep, this is true
So Roxas should have light resistance, yes?
Yup and this is shared with Xion, Donald, Goofy, Mickey and Sora.
The only character without a status resistance is Riku.
A good example of nil damage is second phase Xion, her ragnarok beam does nil damage. I only figured this out by accidentally fighting her as xemnas in mission mode, then fighting her in story mode with 'nothing to fear' equipped.
Good point, I hadn't thought of that
Super interesting! I’ve seen all of the visible effects trying to “plat” the game but never knew the official names!
Yeah!! Not many people notice a lot of these but they're pretty cool to know :)
I loved the postgame rings that put status effects on your combo finishers. What the game considers a ‘combo finisher’ can be super weird for certain weapons/characters, allowing you to spam effects like freeze or air-toss!
Another point that's ignored here is that every character has an elemental stat associated with them, and every level up you get gives you one point of resistance in that stat, maxing out at 100% resistance at level 100. Roxas has Light which is why you never see Radar Zap in repeat playthroughs of the game. And sadly, from what I can tell you can't gain access to dealing these effects out by playing as an Org member, so no Life Half with Lexaues or Damage drain with "Dance Water Dance!" guy.
You can also escape Freeze quicker by mashing your controls.
While technically true, it doesn't take effect until every 10th level; thus, only giving you resistance in increments of 10% per every 10 levels until level 91, where you receive the 100% resistance.
This was my first Kingdom Hearts Game and to this day I'm still hoping Square will remake or remaster this game.
While jolt does have the contact damage, it also has the same damage amp as aero. This makes thundaga particularily strong due to its high jolt chance and hitting twice.
It's honestly pretty awesome how much is unique to Days like all of these status effects. (Especially cause most of them are ones from Final Fantasy, and it's always nice to see FF references that aren't characters popping up imho. I have nothing against FF characters being there, but it would be nice to see more FF stuff that isn't characters or Moogles be referenced)
The game is a lot more unique and in-depth than people give it credit for honestly! I agree that FF references are cool to have too, hoping for a FF original world someday
Many of these statuses do exist in Dream Drop Distance and I think BBS, it's just mostly useless to dedicate a magic slot to inflicting them and you don't get the same damage multipliers for inflicting them like you do in Days. Days really cranked up the elements and status to 11 and I REALLY wish other KH games did the same, making magic a means to an end, rather than just an ends to a mean.....
Days content in 2024? Hell yeah bro!
The more I learn about 358/2,the more I'm intrigued by it.
It may not be "groundbreaking" gameplay wise but some of the gimmicks and mechanics seem fun.
People always talk about how they want a KH1 remake but I feel like 358/2 deserves it the most
Days was one of the games that got me interested in making ‘builds,’ instead of just linearly getting stronger. I especially loved how each weapon had its own moveset, including branching combos _for every single playable character._
@@Densoro Days really is a unique KH game, huh
Each org member actually has a resistance chance for their respective elements rebuff that scales with their level. Roxas for instance has a resistance to the light status for instance
Status effects, and magic in general, are so much fun in Days. I’ve been doing a damageless run of the game (on my other channel) and they’re what’s kept me sane by cutting through Proud Mode’s massive HP pools, lol.
Personally, my favorite is Jolt since it does %damage, making it useful for bypassing Defense.
Yeah, strategizing which magic to bring in to best defeat the enemies in each mission was SO nice! I LOVE games like this where you have to customize your character before entering the stage to optimize beating it cause it turns the game from a button masher to a strategy game, which I really appreciate. Especially when I figured out using Blizzara to stop that one musical wizard heartless that constantly roams around a large maze never stopping. If you use Blizzara and let it run into the ice cloud, it freezes allowing you to damage it easily. Turns a 30 minute battle to a 5 minute one but feels so good!
(shame there's no way to speed up the "Legend of the sky" boss fight though...the one in Neverland where you're chasing the giant flying treasure dragon)
I think apart of why there are so many different magic types and statuses is because of Mission Mode.... as every Organization member is playable and each one of them has a natural resistance to one of the status, with each status being attributed to the element said rigization member wields (Axel has fire, and is harder to ignite... Luxord has time, and doesn't have his DEF rewound as often, ect.).
Would have been a nice touch if they also had inherent abilities to force said status onto opponent's, could have helped differentiate their playstyles a bit more.
learned some new info which i'm always excited for when it comes to anything kingdom hearts, and continue to love the xion model in all it's uncanny goodness. all in all another 10/10 video
Thanks Man, I promise Xion won't be the only cursed model to grace the channel soon enough 👀
@@KeyofTime15 can't wait to see it
It’s been a while since I played Days but I remember how these status effects gave me a bunch of headaches. While annoying, they added depth to the battle system. Plus, it was always fun to use these to deal massive damage to enemies.
My favorite use of the Status Effects in Days is actually on the Invisible and Orcus enemies. Popping Jolt onto the player when waking up from a stun and then trying to touch them so their absorption of Thunder damage will cause them to heal is great.
Thumbnail was enough for a sub, great video!
Learn something new everyday about this franchise. Very cool!
Days is so lucky to have videos like this, Re:coded is crazy for having things almost the same as this and even more interesting stuff but while you hear some say the combat is good people don't really go deep on it 😭
Well, maybe once I've completed Re:Coded fully I'll do some deep dives on it's combat and mechanics too since I'm in the business of trying to cover stuff that most people don't 😆
Those two games sadly got the "movie treatment" making them nearly impossible to play by a wide audience. Plus even if the games were ported to steam, it's possible they'd be neutered because of the lack of second screen and touch screen like DDD was. Though ironically, Days and Re-Coded didn't really use the second screen for anything besides information, while DDD used it several times, and given the fact they ported The world ends with you, to single screen consoles despite 90% of the battle mechanic using both screens AND the touch screen.... yeah there really is no excuse not to port these.
oh this is super helpful, me and a friend are showing the entirety of KH to two of our friends who are unfamiliar, and I'm gonna be the one showing off Days since it has my favorite story in the series, but despite it being the first KH game I played, I don't know a lot of its intricacies, so knowing what all the status effects do is gonna be a big help!
I'm glad you found this helpful :) have fun showing your friends the ropes!
3:58 i would actually love to have the lvl1 status effect in kh4, i know it would be annoying at some point but it would also be fun too, like when you get that the game basically tells you hey wake up time to lock in or you done
Lollll I think that would be interesting too!
Also that timestamp, lolll
Yeah, I think while KH1 used a level up system akin to other RPGs where your stats were based on the level, KH2 and 3 mostly use leveling up as a means of unlocking more abilities and you hardly get stat boosts (most of the stat boosts come from completing parts of the game rather than leveling up). Thus level 1 really has no real impact on Sora, BUT they could temporarily disable all your abilities during this infliction. THAT would get people a bit worried. (as well as reducing the keyblade level to 1 if they do the keyblade upgrade mechanic again).
Lol the “3:58” timestamp😭
358’s statuses are so cool, I love them so much
Happy you agree
As for the thumbnail, here’s my head-canon:
1. Larxene irritated Saïx too much during his brooding time. Demyx did several sitar solos in celebration.
2. Marluxia got a big whiff of the wrong plants (if you know what I mean). While it can’t be proven, Xigbar was likely responsible for the mixup.
3. Axel screwed around in Vexen’s Laboratory. That or he dropped Sea Salt Ice Cream on some research notes.
Honestly I hope KH4 does something similar. KH3 had a step in the right direction introducing more status effects but I've always appreciated the variety of effects in the side titles. Particularly DDD.
I don’t recall many being in DDD.
But I do know that in BBS there were just as many if not more.
Honestly, so long as they work on every boss in sporadic intervals to create unique boss strats that aren’t “Spam this trick to win”, I’ll be down.
It’d be cool to use Ice Magic against a water boss, and see that a heavy swing shatters it and does 3 times damage.
Maybe use Fire and Wind Magic to create a fire cyclone.
OOH!
How about even using Water and Thunder to create special crowd control options!
And have more than just… a watered down Super boss mechanic.
I need to unpack my moving boxes to find my copy of Days
Do itttt
You did mention that each status is element based and thus linked to an Organization element, but I’d also like to point out that it’s the only way those elements come into play when selecting the members in Mission Mode (also still applies to Roxas in Story Mode). Each Organization member has a built in 10% resistance to their respective status.
Which is…nice, I guess? Not enough to really help at all…
Nice to see some love for this game. I never see anyone making videos about this game.
It's my favorite game so of course!
The status on Kh days is the best , most when you play player vs player in multiplayer and put Ice , Fire , Wind or Thunder in your finish combo
0:55 Roxas.... that's a stick.
(I just couldn't help myself, sorry. xD)
This was quite informative, thanks. I'll most likely grind out that ring next in my playthrough, since I've reached the story end.
Good luck with the grind!
@@KeyofTime15 Thanks. I just need to feel up for doing it.
Love the thumbnail 👍
I like the little icons above my head.
The thumbnail art is gorgeous! Did you make it yourself?
My wife drew it actually 😁 I'll let her know you said that
@@TheAnimeexpansion I'm the wife/artist 🙋♀️ thanks for the compliment on my art 🥰
Demyx would be over the moon to see Larxene like that.
Glad to see anybody making a Days video. Even if it's about the most infuriating part of the game IMHO.
People talking about status effects on the player
Me who uses the masters circle: I don’t have such weaknesses
Lolll goat
A lot of these statuses are also in Re:Coded, so learning about how they work here can help in Re:Coded.
That beginning part with the infinite stun reminds me an awful lot of Kazuya’s combos in SSBU
Reminds me of how Sonic Blade absolutely shreds all human shaped bosses, but hey I didn't even know CoM had status effects....
Square Enix. Give us a proper Days remake with Multiplayer, and the communities' lives are yours.
Great video. I love the status effects in this game. I wish they still used them.
358/2 days is like the bloodborne of square enix. They refuse to acknowledge its existence.
Kinda wish this got a proper remake sure mission system was meh, but the multiplayer was so cool and the story was grand
One thing about the master ring is that when you miss your attack you take damage
Each of the Organization members having their own status effect was neat, but what would've been neater was if the magic system had three spells for each of those elements! Why can't Roxas use his light powers outside of his Limit Break?
I agree, it's a little upsetting
If modding was more prevalent for this game I feel like maybe we could do something to remember that
Days is such a cool game.
I wish it was real.
Lol
That thumbnail is interesting....
It was drawn by my wife! Thanks
@@KeyofTime15 bondaged Larxene is not something I knew I needed. Tell her that her work is excellent!
@blackghostcat that... was not the intention but I'm glad you like it lol
@@genevievelav lmaooo
@@genevievelav your art is really good! (assumine you're the wife) do you take commissions?
this game is so underrated even still to this day, if they actually remade the game I would honestly give the series another chance. But they wont lol
Damn never knew there was so much hidden effects in this game
It's just going to be KH2
There are lots of status effects from recom, days, recoded, bbs, ddd. The main series only at kh 3 so far that uses it
Hell yeah
357 Crowns is a lot easier than being all the challenges... some of them are just nuts.
Some of them are quite insane(I remember some timed missions driving me nuts) but I have also seen quite some challenges just being misunderstood by players.
For example, the ones that say "don't attack physically" are done by letting yourself get damaged enough to get a limit, pausing, pressing the attack button, keeping it pressed while unpausing, then going nuts with the attack that does not count.
And "don't jump" does not count roxas jumping, only you jumping(pressing the jump button), so if you are for example fighting a large body-type enemy where the hitbox is normally too high, pressing the attack button can make it work because there is a mechanic for Roxas autojumping in such siturations.
@@lpfan4491 I thought quite of the few time ones were unfair I had to Get very lucky just to beat it and I never actual got them all I never got ultma weapon. there were always some time trials i just never could finish in time.
Hmm most of them are coming back to kh recoded and even added more. Well no surprise the dev learn what's best from days and bbs and 2 to almost perfection in combat gameplay.
358/2 is definitely the weaker of franchise but I really liked how they handled magic in this game
Do you know where to find all Unity Badges, Ordeal Badges and Blazons in 358?
I do and I could do a video for that too if there's enough demand
Why are you not using Melon Mix?
and here I rarely ever used magic in days. o why did they have to connect everything to the chip system
Magic is very versatile! I recommend it
