    I've had this model for 2 years. Can't live without it now. I need Naomi telling me where to go.

    Hi David
    I was introduced to the record routes function which is invaluable in my job, can we use the standard sd cards in the TomTom satnavs?

    Great video. As I intend to use it mounted in the dashboard, is there a way to power it up when the ignition is on rather than the on/off switch?

    Mine won't show next turn street name until we're close to the turn. Had one before that showed the turn as soon as you hit LETS GO.

    Hello and thanks for the review, very helpful in deciding between the 62 or the 60.I am still using an old tomtom 700 without problems but the 4.3 inch screen is a bit small, time for a 6" (showing my age here lol)regards, george

    I was going to get the tomtom start 52 as it’s what I recently had on my driving test
    This has a 6 inch screen which is better than the tomtom 52’s 5 inch screen
    But are they the same other than that?

    Hello John. I'm on the market for a new sat nav. I currently have a go live 1005 and not willing to pay for an updated map and a years live traffic for £90. Seems ridiculous to pay that every year to keep it going. Anyway (being out of the loop for a while with sat navs) does the via 62 come with free lifetime updates and is the live traffic free?
    I found the advertising on the live traffic confusing, although you connect to the live traffic via your smartphone, does the tomtom allow access to the live data for free?
    Cheers

    • @GadgetJohn
      @GadgetJohn  6 років тому

      I’m not exactly sure as you’re asking about a different model. The one in this review comes with lifetime map updates and it can connect to your phone for traffic info but I’ve not activated that side of things.

    Hi, you said in your review one can add waypoints, "tel it to go here, here and here", but you didn't say how. I can't find anything in the manual to say how one adds a waypoint. Otherwise a great review.

    • @johnmandy
      @johnmandy 5 років тому +1

      That's correct, the SAT NAV needs to be powered by your USB, just like every other satnav on the market, the battery is there for you to enter addresses in before you plugin to the vehicle. Pretty Standard stuff really.

    Someone teach TOMTOM how to design a product. Compare them to GARMIN, TOMTOM could very well have a better navigation system, but its still an ugly small screen with huge rounded bezels.

    Will it let me avoid motorways?

    • @GadgetJohn
      @GadgetJohn  6 років тому +1

      Yes, you can either set it to ask you each time you plan a journey to avoid certain roads, or you can set it always to avoid them.

    • @Alec_Collins78
      @Alec_Collins78 6 років тому

      Gadget John Thanks. Some people are saying TomTom have dropped that feature. Is this a recent model?
      I recently set an old TomTom to fastest route by mistake and it took me on the motorway. I resigned myself to it at first but there were delays so I came off the motorway still in an area I'm somewhat familiar with. But I had to pull over and reset it as it was trying to get me back on the motorway!
      For the return journey I toldwit to take the shortest route and all was well, though it still wasn't the route I'd familiar with (and which my phone would have use).
      I'm missing the mount now so I'll be on the market for a new one very soon.
      Are you still awake?

    • @GadgetJohn
      @GadgetJohn  6 років тому

      Different maps and different GPS systems will always produce different routes, however, this tomtom will give you options as you describe, so you can choose the shortest or fastest route, you can then go to avoid roads and set the motorways you want to avoid and so on.

      Haha! I wanted to know how to set it up to use motorways. I was on route to Manchester airport and it kept diverting me to the A roads. I wanted to stay on the motorway. How do you set it to do that?

  • @watahyahknow
    @watahyahknow 6 років тому +2

    yeah the tomtom maps arent the best , i live in the netherlands and there updating the roads from a 3 year backlog of plain and simple neglect so i can understand if tomtom has a hard time keeping up with all those roads being added and changed it would be nice if they used the same maps as google maps , they seem to update them the quickest
    have ran tomtom in the past and they good solid machines verry good gps connection as long as you dont drop the device (they dont like that )
    i now have used google maps for a few days in my job as a courier
    i dont like the google maps voice directions though , she talks for minutes and while giving directions up to 2 turns ahead and make you forget half of wat the girl is saying like the number of the turnoff or the streetsignage (have that with girlfriends too maibe its a build in male filter )
    one thing thats realy good about google maps is the picture of the house displayed at the end of the trip and they get the house numbers REALY close to spot on (you standing next to it not five houses down the road )
    i have ran google on my phone and it regulairy looses gps connection or slows down freesing the map and making driving in town look like a chineese firedrill with bouts of blind panic and anger issues , luckily the phone managed to stay inside the car allthough it was a close call
    my perfect navigation would be part google (maps and connection to eehr google chrome)part tomtom (package gps voice guidance and basic operation)

    Sound like the same 20yr old bull crap User Interface (UI or UX) as Garmin (which I own two). WHY can't modern GPS company create an input UI/UX that's similar to how HUMANS think...cellphone GPS....? In Garmin, to travel to another State, I need to input the State first then it allow me to input the address.....how did we learn to write our address in our lives?
    Thanks for the review! I'll stay away from TomTom since TT is too stupid to be original (copying Garmin)
