Great video i'm gonna make one myself! Btw warming up the griptape with a hairdryer makes it waaaay easier to remove. And how thick did you make the ring (the ring material not the whoe ring)?
Thanks for the tip! The ring is about 1/16" thick.

Luke R. are you just cleaning them with the lacquer thinner or is there more to that?
That's incredibly awesome. I was hoping at the end you'd have an Etsy link where I could go buy one! I was actually ready to buy two! One for me and one for a gift! Please start selling them!

Very cool, well done.
Pretty nice! I like the idea with the driller :) I will try this for sure! THX
thank you!
Loved your technique! Can you tell me what exactly are those products you used on the finishing?
Itael Barbosa spray lacquer finish polished with paste wax 👍
my budget allows for 2.33$ / unit by the way. that's bulk. can you ship at cost for orders over 58,000.00 CAD?
What spray did you use at the end to give the finishing touches?
Gloss Spray Lacquer - easy to use, holds up decently, and easily refinished!
awesome work brother.
Thank you!
What’s the tool he used to make the circle around the hole
what was the buffing material you used in the end??
Paste wax, that stuffs awesome.
Luke R. awesome man! looks great
yo dude this is sweet. so when you put the wring on the drill and the belt sander... is there like a specific technique for best results? like it seemed like it was at a certain angle on the belt.
gideon dushku just eyeballing it 👍
WOW they look great, I never have skateboarded but would like one of them!
hey, what's the wax you used for the final coating?
Arif Shahridon it's a paste was that is used as a lubricant to rub out the lacquer finish. It can then be buffed to a shine
This is so cooool!
Hey Luke, great ring. I have a question about that spray You used. Is it shiny lacquer? Or some varnish? If it's lacquer, the wax can go through it? I'm a littlke confused about this. Best regards mate.
Yes it is a gloss lacquer. I use the wax and steel wool to polish and even out the finish. It dulls it slightly and makes it smooth to the touch. The wax is then buffed off. Thank you.
Dang dude! I wish I had a dope wood shop!
get you one
That´s beatiful...
thanks 👍
Those are nice man
What was the hand-held tool you used for marking the outer edge
Looks like a digital caliper tool. I would suggest using an inexpensive one
Cool idea!! I've seen these on the Philly's Craigslist, that you?
that looks so fking amazing
Thank you very fking much!
I burned my fingers 😂😂😂 Thank you for this video. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
So, so, sooooo awesome!!!!!
Thank you soooo much!
pretty cool
Hey, amazing work !
What is the spray that you using ?
rustoleum gloss spray lacquer. Thanks
I used to make these and was actually curious about how you guys did this as my dad and I brainstormed how it can be done most efficiently for us and we definitely have different methods, yours more refined. I use the initial tool that you used to make the hole to cut out the ring itself and I dremmel the inside to whichever size it needs to be depending for who and thin the outside to match the thickness they want. both achieved about the same result tho
How thick did you make it from the inside of the ring to the outside?
I don't really have a specific measurement for this. I just eyeball it. They are quite thin at the edges though (1 to 1.5 mm maybe) and slightly thicker in the middle. I just go with what looks good and feels good on the hand.
Seriously man you should start selling these, you already have a social following on here who is eager to buy them so why not make a website or sell them on Etsy, then put your link in the description. For the labor part, hire a kid who's just old enough to start working (like someone in your neighborhood) and he'll love it, you give him a part time job and you pay him minimum wage. You can make a killing with these, no joke. You can even allow customers to pay extra for a personalized engraving. You would make some serious side cash while still keep you day job, trust me.
Post a link if you ever start selling these please
tht would be a good idea add a few items like gadges or sum like tht
Derty Hairy yes your right

ceel
Beautiful
thanks!
Nothing man, you deserve it
Loooks so sick bro
nice work.
I add one, but what spray did you use
spray lacquer.
If you don't mind sharing, what grit sandpaper do you use when sanding the edges with the drill spinning, and also the yellow sandpaper used inside of the ring? Also, what type of spray coating do you use? Mad props to you for making these!
greenandyellow88 thank you! 120 to 150 grit shapes the ring pretty quick. sometimes I stop there but other times I'll take it to 220 grit. then several coats of spray lacquer builds up a shine. finally polish with paste wax and 0000 steel wool. cheers.
Thank you! You are truly talented!
Very Cool
hey luke can you show me a list of tools used in this??
tools in order of use: bandsaw, drill press with finger size spade bit, calipers, disc/belt sander combo, dry erase maker?
Shut up! And take my money.
This exactly what I told you in your skateboard utility knife video : you're damn talented Luke!!!
Thank you!!
