Jaffa cakes have an interesting story. The government wanted to classify them as chocolate biscuits which means there would be a tax placed on them. The Jaffa cakes makers argued that they are in fact chocolate cakes which were not subject to tax. This ended up in court and the Jaffa cakes makers won by explaining that biscuits went soft when they went stale but Jaffa cakes went hard when they went stale exactly the same as cakes. So the Jaffa cakes makers won the court case and no tax was placed on them.
@@mac148 it was directed to people outside of the U.K you ain't that special
Interesting that it went that far. Hmmm
There IS tax on them cos there’s chocolate on them!
Sort of correct, McVities actually baked a large jaffa cake to prove it was a cake as it is a sponge base. The tax people had argued because supermarkets put them in the biscuit aisle it should be a biscuit but as McVities said that is out of their control. It was the case that led to there being a legal definition of cake versus biscuit, that was decided by law not by McVities. It is a weird tax rule though that a chocolate biscuit is a luxury and taxable but cake is not. I was made to study that case in my contract law class whilst training as an accountant.
Interesting story Moggy. I rate the story a 10 out of 10.
God bless Amarjit for his kind gesture
As a Brit, I can say that Amarjits choice of biscuits was superb.
Same. Though I’d like to have seen a chocolate digestive, tunnocks teakcake and Cadbury’s fingers in there. Im going to have to send a UK Part 2 parcel i think.

My knowledge of Brit snacks isn't that great, but I recognized most of those as being snacks I've heard Brits eat. Jammie Dodger and Jaffa Cakes might be the most Brit things that I've heard many many times.
The whole idea of British biscuits is dunking them into tea for the correct amount of time it becomes an art form.

Please check ingredients before purchasing/sending, wagon wheels contain animal gelatine and are therefore haram for these guys. Food should either have a V or similar sign for vegetarian, or a halal sign, or contain no animal derived ingredients.
This has been covered many times...the producers have made sure all food is halal
It uses beef gelatine, unlike most gelatine, which uses pig skin, so it's not too haram:)
@Z P But beef is not always haram, right? Depends on the way animal is butchered, if I recall correctly.
I tell my mum and older relatives this all the time but they still don't care and continue eating gelatine sweets even though most of them are vegetarians.
The same product can also be halal. If purchasing from a supermarket then it is not halal but I know a few little pakistani shops here in england that sell the same product but is modified so it is halal. So it is best to buy the food from pakistani shops that way you know it is 100% halal
Chaudhary looks like a brown Harrison Ford. 😍
I loled at seeing Chaud so serious while giving the rates. He needed a pair of glasses resting on the tip of his nose for everything to be complete.
You can see their differences shine through the ratings they gave. I would love to try the wagon wheels and Jaffa cakes- I’ve never seen them here.
amazon.com has jaffa cakes.
I worked in the offices of the firm that made original Burton's Wagon Wheels...They have a biscuit base, then marshmallow, then chocolate, in those days, ('50's) they were huge compared to now..We got to buy the ones that got broken....

@@davidhoward2487 so my parents have always been telling the truth when they say wagon wheels used to be bigger. I always said to them maybe it's because your hands were smaller! I always have to eat the jammie bit last!

Big respect to an Indian who sent a Pakistani a gift 👍
he gave him wagon wheels. Wagon wheels, wagon wheels has beef gelatine in it. it is Not suitable for a halal diet. Muslims here in UK already don't eat it. As they know its haram.
But how do you know they weren't Pakistani too?
@@Ryoko007 I thought Muslims can eat beef as long as the slaughtering was done in a halal method, the same as any other meat. It is Sikhs and Hindus that cannot eat beef.
@@boulevard14 It says they were sent by someone in Britain. I've seen those snacks myself at the shops all muslims here avoid it when they know it has beef gelatine, if you havnt watched the channel enough, you need watch that lots of people send them foods and items from abroad to try too. Now unless the Tribal people try channel people reply to me. I won't know if it's a different halal version from Pakistan they're eating. Then it would be considered halal. But from the description of the video and the fact they said in the start of the video that someone from UK sent it, I am of the opinion it is the haram one. Now let's see if Tribal people try reply.
@@Ryoko007 Beef gelatin is halal, other gelatin, like in American Jell-O may come from pork (and normally does) is haram. Get your story straight.

@@Sorrely1 its one thing I've not noticed a difference in....
They're nowhere near as tasty and they're smaller. Get the ones with the jam in, which are those blue packets
I'm certain that Wagon wheels are haraam. One of the ingredients is gelatine.
They contain marshmallow. These ones might not be halal.
Yep... Wagon wheels are haram
Why is gelatin haram? So does that mean chicken soup doesn't exist in the middle east? Chicken stock is a necessity in it. I saw them eat jello once I think though, that's made from gelatin.
@@necrogenesis1981 Most gelatine is made from pork bones. Also for it to halal it must be slaughtered according to Islam law.
@@seektruth581 ah, I thought it was from beef bones, obviously that’s an issue for Muslims then. Well, I don’t think anyone was aware when this video was done, so I guess you can argue spiritual plausible deniability? I’m not devoutly religious regardless but that’s how I would see it.

If anyones wondering why we always ask if something is halal.
We ask not because we think the producers would serve them something that the tribal people are not allowed to eat.
We ask because sometimes there can be a misunderstaing which in the future you don't make the same mistakes. As part of the muslim ummah, we care for our muslim brothers and sisters and help them out with anything they might have had an error on.
