If Red Dead was a 40's Western, the violence would be shown off screen and Arthur wouldn't be presented as a dubious figure at the beginning and his redemption would probably end with him joining the Pinkertons.
If this was a 40’s western, the weaponry would have been completely inaccurate. They’d have filmed it with revolvers and Winchester rifles they bought at the sports store yesterday
Fashion would’ve been all over the place too. Some folk on set would be old enough to remember 1899, but the stars have to look glamorous and retain ‘modern’ hairstyles and makeup.
This is stunning! The grainy, monochrome filter, the score and music strikes, sound quality and even how the voices sound encapsulated the 1940's feel perfectly! I also really love the change in the title to "Red Redemption" for some reason, it just feels fitting for that era somehow. It's funny to think that the graphics might've passed off as real life footage back then.
@@LegendsandKillers yeah that's what I imagined too actually, which is why I really appreciated that level of detail even in the title. It feels like it'd be a much more marketable title for a movie back in those times, than if it included the "dead" part.
@@JinWBOYou bring up an interestin' point, pardner. "Red Redemption" strikes me as the type to be a Classic Western, Spaghetti Western, full of traditional Old West elements, and a lively classic atmosphere (Think of Bonanza, Gunsmoke, Lone Ranger). Alternatively, "Red Dead Redemption" gives off impressions of being a gritty Dark Western, Revisionist Western, and one that challenges the typical Old West elements (think of Hell on Wheels, Coen Brother's True Grit, Assassination of Jesse James).
Rock’n’roll productions: “Long Road to Redemption” Starring Arthur Morgan as “the Black Lung”, Micah Bell as “the Rat”, and John Marston as “the Wolf Man”
I think what really sells this is the way you did the audio, used era accurate soundtracks, and even place the camera shots in ways that the movies back then were produced.
Hypothetically, if arthur morgan was a real gunfighter and was in all those shootouts, he would have many early hollywood movies would be highly inaccurate.
The black and white filter makes it soooo good, I think just that does about 50% of the work to make this look so good, and the grainy effects, the audio, the music, it's perfect.
If I showed this to my Grandpa who’s still alive to this day, he would believe this is an actual movie. He LOVES Cowboy Western movies! Especially “The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly.”
Literally why do your grandparents need to know about this game? What moral lessons have you learned from this? Brain rotting your grandparents is literally cringe.
@@LegendsandKillers Especially noticed it around 0:42. I always remember the cinematography for this cutscene with that swaying dutch angle to pair with the sheriff's drunkenness, but it would've been out of place in this kind of style
This is actually amazing, I love the static sound in the background, it makes it feel so real. The sound quality is the cherry on top. You MUST make more of these!
and idea for this Red Redemption concept: make entire episodes centered around one main mission per episode (or one main and one side if the side relates to the main or if the main is too short) and each chapter finale will conclude a full season (so season 1 will probably be the shortest season since chapter 1 only has 6 missions and no side content)
This is extremely underated. You studied the camera language of this era very well, not just slapping a filter but carefully editing scenes to reflect the conventions of the genre. Amazing job. Not to mention the added realism that comes from B&W. Wow.
i thought it would just be normal RDR gameplay with a filter ontop but this is well done, although i think it's still too graphically violent compared to most films of the era,but still congrats.
Everything about this is perfect. Feels like I just stumbled on some vintage western movie while channel surfing and found it interesting enough to watch, even though it's halfway finished. This is really well done.
The music and effects are what make it sound more authentic to that time period than the B&W filter. The music, the incredibly fake gunshots, it’s all perfect. 😂
Love the Wagon Train theme you used in the beginning. Coincidentally I have that entire series on DVD and was just watching it before stumbling upon this video. Excellent job with the audio and visual authenticity!
Took me a while to figure out what makes this video so convincing and I just realised it's the small detail of all the shots being locked off, because of course a Western B movie like this wouldn't have the budget for a crane and handheld cameras weren't practical yet so the camera basically had to stay on the tripod
it's crazy how much natural and real it still looks even with this kind of camera angles and vibes. they've really done some works to the dialogues and the voice acting in rdr2
Beautiful work! I really have a hard time looking for errors. Getting it to look and sound this convincing is a great accomplishment. I am most impressed. 😊
I loved trying to place which actual western show music was put in here. I grew up with the classic westerns and it’s great to hear some of these old scores again. Well done
-watches some dude fall on his face in front of them -"I told you we were moving up in the world" That actually felt like a real comedic scene from a 40's film

Omg i love this so much! It looks so realistic! I love the dramatic music in the background at certain points, and the grainy filter really makes it appear like a true classic film! Crazy right?
i mean yea,would be weird for a 40s film to be in 4k 144FPS
@@marcowulliampopirers2216oh brother

No i think his redemption would be the same it wouldnt make sense for him to join the pinkertons when they were also depicted as the villans
@@maxrockatanskytheroadwarrior he's saying back then the US government wasnt shown as bad guys, cuz thatd be offensive to the baby boomers, lol.
@@gregrobinette8620 ohhh i get it now
The Hays code would've made RDR the most tame version of itself.
Unless it was made pre-code, then it could have been more like the game
If this was a 40’s film then at the end it would say
“Buy war bonds” or “join the army”
Lol usually not, but that would have been funny if it were included.

@@warpdarkmatterOh just shut up already
Now make it look like a spaghetti western from the 60's.
Yes! Please do this
Good the bad and the ugly, starting arthur morgan as clint eastwood
Yeah red dead is a bit too dark and gritty for golden age westerns
he can even use those euphoria mods that make npcs react crazy to gunshots
YYEEEA
5:26 is SO perfect. The music followed by that zoom-in on the dead man's face, as if to say to the audience "LOOK! HE SHOT HIM! HE'S REALLY DEAD!" :O
The camera angles, static camera shots and the quick little edits between lines of dialogue really sell it as a film of the era.
Makes it seem like a classic western. I really like the inclusion of overdramatic music during actually impactful scenes.
5:17 made me laugh at the Wilhelm scream
6:15 I love Arthur's expressions. He seems SO apprehensive as if he has NO idea what he's even doing there 😂😂
