I made this tonight. I stayed very close to the recipe, just adding some garlic, a little white wine for deglazing the pan after browning the chicken, and a little salt and a little sugar to the onions when they were cooking. The results were spectacular. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Definitely worth a try.
This is why I like watching new chefs to me. You always get new ideas like this one. I’m a simple quick style chef at home and I never thought of this... love it
@@TheCooknShare You wouldn't believe it but I just made your French Onion Chicken for our lunch a while ago! And it was an instant hit to all of us! I am going to feature it in my channel maybe end of March and I will be giving you, David, a grand shoutout at the end of that video! Thank you so much, David for this fantastic chicken dish! Have a great week!
Hi!! I made this last night! I used a little wine after removing chicken and before onion then added potato sliced to onions brown them a bit and then added flour. Cooked it then added broth. Put a lid on till potatoes were soft. Added chicken and simmered 12 mins with a lid. Then melted Swiss Served with green beans. Holy Cow this was delicious!!! My husband was thrilled. THANK YOU LOVE YOUR RECIPES!!
Hi Rhonda. Yes, a touch of wine would be so good. Love the personal touches. So glad you and your hubby enjoyed the recipe and thanks for sharing. Stay safe and well. Keep cooing.

I have just cooked this tonight OMG my wife and i are blown away, thanks so much for this one so simple and so tasty, served with small baked potatoes and veg, Oh yes going to do this one again, soon.
This is just the kind of short cooking video I like. No long, goofy intro before the actual video starts. The recipe is simple and straight forward without weird music blasting in the background, and Dave is a fantastic cook.
Love iron skillets. This looks fantastic. I’m saving this recipe to try hopefully soon. I use Swiss cheese a lot! Makes the best chicken casserole with green Chile’s.
I made this tonight. It was AMAZING!!! I added 2Tbp of Worcestershire sauce and crushed up garlic and butter seasoned croutons on top of the melted cheese. My family loved it!
Hi Dave, new to your channel.I just love everything you cook. You seem to cook a lot of chicken which I love. So many ways to cook it & never get tired of it. You have a voice that is easy to listen to & you explain things very well . Thanks again and have a great weekend.
Had this for dinner. It was fabulous. Thank you. Added garlic. The chicken stock looked a little anemic so added just a tablespoon of leftover spaghetti sauce to bring the color up. Yummy!
I have to try this soon. I will have to substitute the cheese as dear wife isn’t fond of Swiss. Provolone or Muenster maybe. I’ll probably serve it with a rice pilaf and sugar snap peas.
What about serving it on top of a thick slice of toasted bread. Kind of like the bread that you put in French onion soup. The bread would absorb that great sauce.
Yummmmm...going to try tomorrow. I do one with mushrooms and garlic too ....but this recipe with the melted cheese on top looks absolutely yummy. Thank u

Just had this, tonight, WOW. The onions took longer than I had planed. Well worth the wait. It will be a regular in this household. Can't wait to try more of your recipes.
One of the best ideas I've seen in a very long time... brilliant. I would just add mushrooms and serve with a big slice of toasted garlicky Italian round bread. Thanks for sharing this awesome recipe Dave.
By the title I was waiting for him to add French onion soup mix. That packet by Lipton. That would work too. I use half packet Lipton onion soup mix, on a roast beef in the crock pot. It makes its own juices & gravy. You can add carrots, potatoes, what EVER you want. THIS looks good for chicken & with fresh onions. I'll try it.
I tried it. Delicious. My wife loved it. A side benefit is that it fills the house with the great aroma of fried onions. I'm going to have to try this while camping.
