    I want to thank Andrew for addressing one of the primary issues impacting and fueling so much misunderstanding and confusion. That issue is a massive lack of understanding of statistical reasoning and awareness of even the most fundamental and foundational statistical concepts. As someone who has a Ph.D. in statistics and spent years teaching research and statistics, it has slowly driven me nuts over the decades! 🙏

    What he said about the government wanting you to quit after you've turned the investment on your training, but before you retire so you don't fully benefit from them, was just so real and exactly how I feel working at call centers. Didn't know many of us can relate no matter what corporation level we are in.

    • @1200janie
      @1200janie Місяць тому +3

      You are so correct about call centers! I had a manager in my first call center tell a whole room of employees that they only want us to be there 2 years to get their cost of training back then they prefer we move on. That was shocking to me then. 25 years later and many call centers that is exactly what I saw happen over and over!

    • @surlif
      @surlif 17 днів тому +1

      OH so correct on call centers from my experience!! The stories I can tell. They will even tell you that you are there to make money for the investors. So many people thought I was bonkers when i told them that in those call centers, work hard, do your job and when you are about to be good at it and deserve a promotion and a raise you will lose your job and be out frantically looking for another 10 dollar an hour job.

    I recently discovered this show that helps me reflect on my life and the decisions I've made as a young disabled person. I'm embracing the journey of trying new things, knowing that even if I fail, it's all part of the process. I'm excited to announce my plans to return to college and pursue a career as a therapist for people with disabilities. The future looks bright, and I can't wait to see where it takes me!

      Yaasyyy! Disabilities is a mental wall builder for me. I acknowledge them but focus on my abilities. What can I learn to do and learn to do better. It's much more exciting and rewarding to find out what your special abilities are.
      TIP. Pay attention to compliments! Surprisingly other people tend to have a better overview on what you might be specially talented in or have a better basic skill set to build upon then others they know.

    At 1:27:00 ish mark I was in tears. He articulated exactly how I feel as a 53 year old man. I am so done with conforming and being loyal to employers who took me for granted. I also immediately thought of the Pink Floyd song " Another Brick in the Wall "... In fact the entire album. I understand the need for our US Government to do what it did ( and does ) to protect itself, but man it sucks to figure out that we are really expendable. The kids in elementary school were punished for refusing to stay in line and follow the rules. They were the ones administrators should have talked to instead of punishing them. We saw what the consequences were so we conformed. It is what it is. Am I less happy than I would be if I was the kid who non-conformed, nobody knows.

      I've felt that way since I was in my 20s.
      I'm 59, and years ago I abandoned the pursuit of working in conventional employment for the same reasons you express. You can't often trust people to treat you with respect. Exploiting people seems to be the default business model in the US.
      Rebelling against it is hurting me financially more than I can tell you. But what I gain in self-image and peace of mind is priceless.

      In a democratic country the service should go in both direction. You both serve the government and the government serves you. There is no either this or that.
      How naif is believing that the government should be like tour mom's substitute only giving out and never taking in front you? Soon or later you will end up living in tour mom/substitute's basement scrolling tiktok for hours, days and months until the food lasts while yelling at her/it for your misery and being the perfect target for all sort of con ideologies😂

    Ugh 😑 He doesn’t understand what anti social personality disorder is. This is part of the problem of of the term ASPD- it’s a misleading title, some psychiatrists want the name changed, It is not about being anti social and not liking people. It is about manipulating people for your own gain with no conscience or remorse of hurting innocent people in the process, pathological lying, entitlement, no empathy, no morals, not being able to bond with others etc. This is so frustrating that he either doesn’t know, or is being purposefully misleading. He also said that sociopaths are always loyal to someone or some thing more than themselves - that’s not true. They might act loyal in order for personal gain, but it is always self-serving, it’s not usually the kind of loyalty he’s talking about.

    Andrew is so freaking intelligent and so geopolitically aware that every interview is like a master class in everything you never knew you needed to know. I was slightly surprised that M and J didn’t wholly research Andrew before having him on. Andrew is pragmatic and Mayim kept asking purely emotional and biased questions ie feminism, Judaism, trump, liberalism, spies having sex, lies, and several other disappointingly simplistic questions. Andrew’s answers are so complex that it takes deep active listening to grasp the levels of what he’s saying. I’d love to see him on your show again with a whole slew of new questions.

    As a teacher with a political science background, I am sure of a few things. The American education system is designed to promote conformity and indoctrination of children, thus promoting the status quo of the government and economic system. It is in the best interest of the ruling elite to have a population educated enough to be useful, but not so much that they are a threat to the system.

I haven't had s chance to partake in their high-tier stuff yet, my life is to hectic right now, but their low-tier stuff (videos, ebooks, etc) is definitely worth plunking down a few bucks.

    Listening to this episode did make me feel a wee bit better about the awful election results. America is young and dumb, and people didn't vote the way they did out of malice but ignorance. That is a good thing to remember.
    I love Andrew's hair! So cute :) I wish him well in his civilian life away from the CIA now. If you can interview his wife, I'd love to see that! I don't think I've seen her at all yet. I see Andrew popping up on the Internet everywhere these days (I guess YT thinks it should recommend every video he's in to me, lol). I'd love to see you interview another former spy, Mayim! You're so good at asking the questions we all have on such topics. :)

    I'm subscribed!! This is gonna be a good one - had an LTR many years ago with someone with NPD and going into the relationship I had NO idea what that was, I had never even heard of it, but boy did it take control very fast before I really even know what was going on. Luckily I got out of it before marrying the person (we were going to). Can't wait to watch!

    The way everything is so calcukated is wild. “How to WIN friends and INFLUENCE people”. “Ask two questions and make a validating statement, then repeat.”
    This stuff is gross. So rare to find real ppl who are not trying to get shit from you or change you

    So far this interview has brought me some kind of comfort in ways to be able to think about what has happened in our election more broadly. Also, being in substance recovery rather then or educate people with neuroscience in groups or friendships it maybe a better idea to reemphasize how people feel about their addiction to build better friendships and alliances.

I don't believe him when he says he does nothing....periodt! This was a really interesting and engaging interview Mayim and Jonathan, well done.

    Being with my ex narc for the past 8 yrs. made me observe this very pattern. I think they wanted to feel very important in a way that is disturbing. Instead of building trust with their intimate partners, they destroy the trust that they built with you (in that case lying when they tried to put you in their pedestal). Once they have a committed partner, they can’t stand being loved authentically by one person. Instead they go on and prey on other women that is susceptible to their love bombing.
    My ex narc was a compulsive pursuer in a relationship. He would go back and forth to the women he were involved before or try to meet women in complicated situation so that going public isn’t an option while having you as their main supply. In the end they destroy the very person that loved them. They are like toddlers testing your love for them. Showing and telling them you love them isn’t enough, they will cheat on your face to make you feel inadequate even if you are more than they deserve. They want to test your love for them so they keep hurting you and when you have enough of their abuse, you leave. Then they tell you, ‘you never loved me because you abandon me’.
    Well in fact it’s their actions and narcissistic behavior that made you leave or in other cases they discard you and will give silly reasons of the discard. Mine would use, ‘she’s crazy’, ‘she’s a nega-star’, ‘she insults me’, ‘she cheated on me’ et al. So with this pattern of infidelities and emotional abuse (who knows what else) it’s better to walk away. I did walk away and is now rebuilding my life with our daughter. We are struggling financially because I’m not earning enough to provide for my daughter but now we get to laugh and bring with us sunshine every day. No lies, no abuse and no fake love. We only live once, forgive yourself and move forward but never forget the lesson that narc abuse taught you. That is to respect yourself to walk away from what’s hurting and destroying you. That you deserve a life of solitude, happiness and love. Hugs*** :)
    Additionally I hired a private detective Metaspyhub@gmail. com. Once I knew what the narc was up to, it got easier to get over that lying, cheating, sack of doo doo, loser. I didn’t need closure from the narc, I paid for it. Best money I EVER spent!
