Muriatic acid quickly reacts with and removes the anticorrosive zinc coating on galvanized surfaces such as boat trailers. It will also eat into aluminum.
Hey I used this same method to clean a 16ft fishing boat I got at an estate sale and I gotta say it worked amazing. 30 years of sitting under an oak tree gone within an hours worth of cleaning. And as far as the galvanized trailer it took the galvanized coating off and all I had to do was go back and paint it with some rustoleum. Watch out for fumes though and dont get it on yourself or anything you dont want eaten.
Thanks for this Video I’ve been trying for days to find a easy way at home to remove anti fouling paint from my boat. I will be trying this method for sure with the proper P.P.E and trailer covered up. Lol THANKS AGAIN!
Alfred see you all the time, Just got a boat but was left in the water for what appears a while and has lost of barnicles on it, you know if I would be able to use this acid, would it work ?
Pressure wash it first with at least 4000 psi washer then use the acid. It will be tough on your lungs so mask up and dont let it fall on the metal trailer it will burn it
Alfred!!! Welcome to the Chit Show!!Love it! Question: will it damage fiberglass if you don't wet sand and polish after? Will it damage it if left on? Is there something I need to do after application and powerwashing?
Nice work getting it clean with the muriatic acid. I don't agree with your application of the product - incredibly dangerous. For one you are splashing it on which could get into your eyes. Second, you are breathing the fumes which will cause irreversible lung damage. Anyone watching this...PLEASE don't follow the example. Gloves, goggles, mask and spray it on. Avoid the fumes.

What brand degreaser
is the acid ok to be sprayed?
Good way to destroy your trailer
Do you have any idea if this was just bottom paint or anti fouling paint?
They're the same.. Unless people define "bottom paint" as something else
Did it mess with the gel coat at all?
Nope I did wet sand it and polish it afterwards though
It’s also taking all of the galvanizing off your trailer.
By the way crab from able where great took the boys over there and we had a blast
I'm so buying some soon!!!

Don't spray it thats just creating aerosol and more fumes but rather brush it on and make sure to use gloves
just need ro cover trailer ( Metals )
]looks great though
U gotta watch mixing chemicals like that u have no idea what your creating
bro thats crazy i remove bottom paint by sandblasting it off iv gotta see how you method will work against thick fresh fully based bottom paint .
+Jose Corujo I've tried it on thick bottom paint the results weren't that good
Alfred Montaner yeah I figured that that stuff is very gruesome
Dude u fried ur trailer
trailers don't make memories
Muriatic acid works great to clean ur hull but ruins galvanized trailers. U need to wrap the trailer with heavy duty plastic first.
@@AlfredMontaner Yes they do. Bad memories
Sprayer? 10 bucks?
