I love her live! Her writing skills are crazy! She speaks to the listener on so many different levels. She was so pissed that she missed that high note, but she still went for it with full force. She's so mesmerizing that even a flat note can't take away from the performance. Awesome!
In jazz it happens and they put in a Sostenutto or they ignore the mistake and nothing happens. In art you have to take risks, no one doubts Amy's ability. If she already did this, we never know what she would do.
Amy has a strong attachment to animals; Ava (named after Ava Gardner) was her bird that passed away. She sang "Lullaby of Birdland" to her like Sarah Vaughn.
I love many pop artists (Madonna, Jennifer Lopez, Shakira, Sophie-Ellis Bextor etc) but thanks to Amy I started listening to jazz, soul and blues. I love the way she mixes all this genres. She's true talent
Better, songs, band, voice, and look. Although Amy is still amazing under the influence. She passed a great stage. She sings like an angel here. I really want her Frank days back.
She sings the hell out of this song. I said it before but this might be the first time for me where I believe the live versions of songs are better than the recorded versions.
this is the Amy I love. Here her persona is plain great. Greatness that of Sarah Vaughan, Billie and Judy. Please return singing and being like this Amy.
god i wish i could have saw her live, but i was too young to even be into concerts :( but at a young age i loved Amy Winehouse's music, no one can top her. It seems like she was the last genuine artist to not just do music for money. Because if she would have done music for money in 2010 2011 she would have had a pop feel but she always kept that jazzy style through and through :}
It's perfect, truly perfect.. Her voice has changed (because of cigarettes ?) But it's still awesome. I love the way she says "my beautiful bird" Can someone say that she's not a good singer after THAT !!!!!??!!?! I cried so many many many many times after listened it....I have a real passion for birds.. Too much love and...rage in this song. Love you AVA love you AMY RIP
i like how she samples the melody from "Lullaby of Birdland" (but they don't credit that on the album)> Anyway, I like the Frank CD more than Back to Black and for those of you from the US (like me) u can find the FRANK cd at your local Barnes and Noble (That's where i found it).
This is the best version of my fave song of all time... I can listen to this for hours and hours, and I just keep on repeating the last minute, and the part where she looks so pissed at 3.20 Ghehehe... That's some funny shit!:p
when i watch her early vids i always think how she didn't know what her future was gna be like...how big she would make it, who she would marry, what the papers would say etc.
I love this song. Its said that Amy wrote this song about her bird Ava. Amy went away for the weekend and forgot to feed her causing Ava to die. I think its really different that amy took a song about her dead bird and tied it with "Lullaby of birdland" a song that was performed by Sarah Vaughn.
I don't understand why people bothers of writting something bad on the videos of artist that they simply don't like. just, i don't get it, amy rocks by the way, most of artist take something of poems, old songs or whatever
That's interesting how she says at the end it was about a bird who's now dead. I feel it's somewhat about herself too and she is now dead, such a shame, I will miss this voice. RIP AMY!
You have a point if someone outright did the song and called it their own, but a 4 bar quote really doesn't qualify for mandatory listing of songwriter's credit. Legally it's more of an issue of 8 bars or more. She does mention the tune to set the listener up, so when they hear the melody they think, Oh, how nice. That's clever.. Quotes of other writers exist in all genres of both popular & serious music. Nobody goes bananas when the writers go unaccredited.
call it what you want. sampling is a reality in todays music scene, sorry if that offends you. to each his own. personally, I enjoy this version very much...
Lots of stuff. Her admiration for Sarah Vaughn - melody is taken from SV's "Lullaby of Birdland", see watch?v=x8cFdZyWOOs. AW's lamenting that great singers like SV ain't no more. Whilst hinting, rather cheekily, that her own vocal skills might be some kind of reincarnation. The idea of SV is mixed up eith the actual death of her pet birdie, Eva. She used to listen to the bird, just as she grew-up listening to SV. This high level of poetic inspiration is why AW is a great lyricist. Fab musician
Oh I thought you meant musically Yea U agree she looked much better before I didnt even know what she looked like before until a few days ago. She is so pretty you wouldnt even know. I hope she gets better.
Lullaby Of Birdland - George Shearing Lullaby of Birdland that's what I always hear when you sigh Never in my woodland Could there be words to reveal In a phrase how I feel Have you ever heard two turtle doves Bill and coo when they love That's the kind of magic Music we make with our lips When we kiss... How is that similar to "October Song"?
so she's really amazing and all but i'm wondering if there are any male vocals of this style that you guys know... please comment if you have any ideas
She's not 'sampling' so much as quoting the melody. Jeez, man if you're going by a name such as MusicmanE, you ought to know better and to get with the correct nomenclature. Anyway, lectures aside, I agree that she certainly should have given credit to the writer of Lullaby Of Birdland. But I guess that Stravinsky best put it when he said that good writers borrow but great writers steal. I'm all for Amy as far as anything she does.

i love the way she looks and sounds here. and yeah, Frank is a great album.

i love her when she was younger she still is great but wow she was much better then!
So beautiful. RIP Amy
Frank is such a fan-bloody-tastic album! Amy and Jazz go together like white on rice.
Amy has a strong attachment to animals; Ava (named after Ava Gardner) was her bird that passed away. She sang "Lullaby of Birdland" to her like Sarah Vaughn.
i'll always remember you like this
The original melody for "Lullaby of Birdland" was composed by George Shearing a Jazz/Standards LEGEND in case you were wondering.
simply revolutionary
this is a healthy amy winehouse with awesome performance
god the last 45 secs are absolutely immense, such a amazing groove. my head just starts boppin by itself
I love many pop artists (Madonna, Jennifer Lopez, Shakira, Sophie-Ellis Bextor etc) but thanks to Amy I started listening to jazz, soul and blues. I love the way she mixes all this genres. She's true talent
I must've watchted this mov over a fifty times. I so totally dig this version. This is Amy at her best!
Better, songs, band, voice, and look. Although Amy is still amazing under the influence. She passed a great stage. She sings like an angel here. I really want her Frank days back.
all of her songs make me want to cry because her voice just does these..things. it's crazy.
The voice of Amy sounds just awesome !!!

Sorry, it’s spelled Tomowo
hermosa mujer!!!
AMY AMY AMY:d:d...SHE'S THE BEST
LOL.......She gets pissed 3:15 when she doesn't hit that note. Love it.

She does actually mention Lullabye Of Birdland in the lyrics. It's up to the listener to be hip enough to pick up on it.
Yeah, Back to Black is good, I do love the song "Unholy War", but on Frank the jazz chords sound so groovy, and she plays them quite good.
O God. I fucking love her ! 3:19 the best moment ! You can see that she was a perfectionist .
I can't listen to ANY of her songs without realizing how ironic the songs are. God today is just horrible, I hope she is in paradise...
que tristeza, ya no esta mas...
What a horn section!
tolle frau! wie gern würde ich so singen können.....-.-
That's interesting how she says at the end it was about a bird who's now dead. I feel it's somewhat about herself too and she is now dead, such a shame, I will miss this voice. RIP AMY!
parfaite je taime tu nous manque

Lullaby Of Birdland - George Shearing
Lullaby of Birdland that's what
I always hear when you sigh
Never in my woodland
Could there be words to reveal
In a phrase how I feel
Have you ever heard two turtle doves
Bill and coo when they love
That's the kind of magic
Music we make with our lips
When we kiss...
How is that similar to "October Song"?
I never thought that was a mess up and I still dont. Notice that the horns cue at that moment.
i can't seem to find summertime
OMG she's soooo funny!! at the end:
'Thank you.. That's a song called October Song..
It's about a bird I used to have.. Who's now..
Dead!' (hahaha)
so she's really amazing and all but i'm wondering if there are any male vocals of this style that you guys know... please comment if you have any ideas

when can i found this show complete?
I have Mr. Magic, Brother, and a lot of other mp3s that are even more rare than those. What are you willing to swop for?
I hope she never gives up heroin. That drug is a one way ticket to death. Keep it up Amy! I'm pulling for ya!
@karenram65 She looks amazing! So healthy and simply beautiful!
What do u mean when everything was still ok?
Anyone know where this was from? The venue I mean.
Do u somebody know what is the song about?
