That base model M4 MBP for $1,599 is a fantastic value. There's no other laptop out there that offers those features and performance at that price. I would go as far as to say this is the best laptop of 2024 and the new base model M4 Mac mini being the best desktop of 2024.
yeah, you right, the only problem of base m3 is the 8gb ram, (reaction of people: 1599for a 8gb machine.....raging. while now only adding 8gb ram makes it perfect for people who need air power but want better speakers, screen and thermal)
I think Apple has smashed it this week. The mini was probably the star for me and I ordered mine today, but the MBP's were awesome as well. No one mentioned those Thunderbolt 5 ports - but they are gonna be awesome
Honestly I got the M4 MBP and if I had the change I would have upgraded to the pro but don’t forget the M4 is on par with the M3 pro in some use cases so don’t sweat.
Got my first Mac ever! MBP 14” M4 24gb 512 in space black and will be getting an external ssd. So excited coming from a Dell Inspirion 3000 with and 7th Gen I3.
hey dude. i'm in the same boat. but still confused of whether to get a 512gb or 1tb. i don't know how about you but i'm really looking forward to use this laptop for more than 5 years.
Honestly ram is more important than storage so focus on ram don’t forget external ssd’s exist and you can get way more storage for per dollar compared to apple storage tier pricing.
I've used my M1 Max heavily every day for three years and it has never missed a beat. I mention it in this video ua-cam.com/video/yCb6HPyf20c/v-deo.html
Cheers Paul! I think I have one more video in me this week! Later today I will be making a quick video about what I've bought. I thought it might be interesting
I got the MacBook Pro M4 Pro Base Model for just over 1900€ in Germany at a black friday deal and I can't quite comprehend how much power I got for that kind of money. Don't get me wrong: It is a lot of money for me personally, but the bang for buck in this one is incredible imho.
hi - if you look back to the summer, you'll find I originally bought the iPad Pro with the nano texture finish on it. It was good, very good, but just not for me. Yes, I felt I was losing too much colour.
@@DavidLewisTechya, I've read a bit about the nano texture on the iPad, users reported it was VERY high maintenance. Only the supplied cloth works to clean it and smudges took forever to clean off. As tempting as it is I think I'll pass.
Yeah....it's good, but it wasn't for me and unless you have a particular reason that you'd need it, I'd swerve it too ua-cam.com/video/B4YTdG_m4OI/v-deo.html
Will be interesting to find out how thermals work on Mac Mini, with all those performance cores & 64GB RAM. Disappointing that MacBook Pro has maximum of 48GB RAM with M4Pro. And M4Max (binned) has only 36GB RAM! My current MacBook Pro is 7 years old, so looking for similar longevity from a new M4 computer
from a 7-year-old Mac - any Apple silicon Mac would represent a massive jump! I will be making a video later today about what specs I'v gone with on the M4 Mac mini
@@DavidLewisTech Wondering about MacBook Pro 14 with M4 & 32GB RAM. Also M4Pro with 48GB, tho thermals in 14inch with all those performance cores! For me the real difference between different chips is RAM
I feel like even though Apple didn’t treat it like a big reveal (no new wallpapers etc), this is the best model with Apple Silicon they’ve put out to date. Going to be copping myself the M4 Pro for $1570 after trading in my base M1 and adding the education discount. Can’t wait. My computing intensive workflow deserves this amazing upgrade.
I just got a new MacBook Air a few months ago. in theory, all these new machines sound great. in practice, I just don't need all the power they offer. I guess the 16gb ram Air I have will probably last quite a few years. enough for small Xcode projects.
@@DavidLewisTechI purchased M3 Pro approximately 3 weeks before this announcement :/ I thought about returning and getting M4, but I passed the 14 day window for full reimbursement!
Well done this week on working to bring us concise snippets for each new release.👍 Sadly I won't be buying anything. Unlike phones it's hard to stick to an annual or biennial cycle for bigger hardware purchases. I do wonder who will buy all this new and expensive tech - no matter how good. And where will the old stuff go?
My wife and family get the older stuff. My wife always gets my most recent iphone, and then her previous ones goes to random family. Basically up for grabs.
@@nauscakes1868 Good idea. At least someone benefits👍 Apple does offer a trade-in option when buying again but if anyone's tried this they'll see how little they can get.
Thanks Nigel - what a great week it's been and I just had to cover it! Apple has smashed it as far as I'm concerned. I've long said that they have almost shot themselves in the foot with Apple silicon! There is virtually no need to ever change!
So, Apple today announced the M4 MacBook Pro range and a surprise mention of the MacBook Air too. What took your fancy today?

Would you say an M4 Pro is overkill for an average user (from research to basic video-graphic design?)
@@YorgoFeghaly That's what I'm wondering too.

Man - thats a great deal and will last you for years! You should be over the moon!!
I am not sure about the Nano Textured Glass, I feel just for better handling of reflections your going to lose color accuracy & deeper black/contrast.

I think we will all be keen to see how the thermals behave! And as for RAM - yup, I totally agree, those are the main differences!

Thats a shame. See if Apple may be sympathetic to you. After all, they stand to make another sale! It must be worth a try!

Dave, exciting times ahead. I will be trading in my MBP M3 8gb for a Mac mini M4 pro chip I think. All these Macs are much better value now
