Loved the area of moss!! Peaceful!! Amazing just to slow down and watch Mother Nature awaken from winter sleep.

Sometimes just going out with no expectations really helps. Then sometimes when I'm not really looking, I find new things. I think it's about allowing your brain to relax for a bit.

Hi Torsten! Great advice! It's easier to find things to photograph from a relaxed state of mind. :)

Sometimes it’s just the same scenery that blocks me, especially in the middle of a season. Go easy on yourself when this happens. And sometimes it’s just looking at the simple things in nature that can inspire us. Lovely images and video.

Hello Thomas. The composition with the cranes is quite good. I like it very much! Regarding creative blocks, I usually try one of these two things: 1) Go to my usual photography locations but look for different subjects than I usually like to capture, and 2) Go to a location I where I have not been before or where I haven't been in a long time. In the second option, I go with an open mind to experience whatever is there. It requires taking more lenses than I usually do, but I want to be flexible. As always, thanks for sharing your photo adventures!

Your photo with the 2 Cranes standing on the ice is so beautifully balanced. Even the way they are standing really compliments the shot. Nicely done!
What you said about lowering expectations really makes sense to me and it's something that we have spoken about before. Not every shot has to be portfolio worthy. Just take some shots! I need to take that advice right now, I really haven't shot anything at all in the past few weeks.
    And YES! Nature heals :)

Hi Mike! Glad you like my shot ofthe cranes. They are so beautiful.
Yes, photography is suppose to be fun! We really don't have to take it super serious all the time.
The "problem" I'm having is that I wan't to make videos that are inspiring and entertaining. If I can't find something to photograph I might not have a video to share.
I'm not sure how to deal with that. :)
      Have a great weekend!

@@ThomasRaskPhoto I understand what you're saying even though I don't have the pressure on me to produce a video on a regular basis. However, I've watched every single video you've made right from the very first one. You've always found something to photograph and you consistently offer pleasing and beautiful photos to your viewers.
I think you are passionate and talented enough to keep coming up with ideas and they don't always have to be different. Revisit the same scenes and shoot them in a different way, with a different lens etc etc.
Maybe one video you could go through your process of making a nice print from editing to having it ready to hang on your wall or put up for sale. You did a successful gear review video a while back, maybe do another. Anyway, just sharing my thoughts.

Thank you Mike! 😀 I will for sure take your advice. It doesn't always have to be a "go out and shoot" type of video.

@@ThomasRaskPhoto I agree. Save those other ones for when the weather is too bad to go out or you're tired and need a break.

When I am really blocked I put aside photography and think: it will come back in a week or three. Another possibility is to go someplace new with low expectations and then be encouraged when you find something which exceeds expectations.
Really liked the video sewuence about 06:25 with the stream quickly curving around.
What camera backpack is that? I think I saw f-stoppers but which model? What are your experiences of it?
Rather new to your channel, greetings from Lund in the far south....

Hi Joe, welcome to my channel! Visiting new locations is for sure one of the best ways to be creative and motivated.
My camera bag is a F-stop Tilopa. I love the "carrier system". I can have a lot of gear and it won't hurt my back to much. :)

I like having a goal or project to work on, or I give myself some kind of theme. Then it's like a treasure hunt! Sometimes it's a short-term project or sometimes a year long, for instance, a seasonal calendar. Since I like birds as well as landscapes, I also challenge myself to improve on past images such getting the same bird but in a differant location, nicer background or doing some behavior. I also go out and come back with no photos which is okay too!

    • @ThomasRaskPhoto
      @ThomasRaskPhoto  8 місяців тому

Hi Juanita! Ah, that's good advice. Have a project. I have heard of people doing sort of a game of photography. Like photographing the most amount of species of birds in a year. Have a great weekend! :)

Go out, enjoy nature and maybe you will discover a motif that suits you. I've gotten into the habit of not being disappointed if the photography doesn't work out in one day. However, for me it's just a wonderful hobby.
