With the tailgate closed you cannot see the shock or bracket. Perfect for show trucks. Also if you use your truck... wait for it... like a truck; and put stuff in the bed with the tailgate down this won't get in the way. Also this allow you to retain the multi position cable feature GM put into the tailgate.
