That's by far the coolest xj sway bar I've seen. I've ran my xj for many years with no sway bar at all and just fancy shocks but with my current overhaul I installed a anti-rock sway bar to try out. I've never wanted a sway bar I've always tuned my alignment and shocks, I got even better shocks this time too they are fox 2.5 reservoir shocks with a high and low speed adjustment custom valved for the specs I gave them. But I see a lot of high end builds running sway bars like the anti-rock and supposedly the anti-rock never needs disconnected you tune it by choosing which hole to put the end links and that changes the leverage or something. I'm also running 37s now and much heavier axles so I thought it might be good to install a sway bar at least to try it. This sway bar looks similar to the anti-rock but is able to be disconnected and looks much more sturdy, I think this is an awesome idea. I may have to look into one of these if I end up liking having a sway bar although I'm not sure how it would fit because I've done a lot of modifications and no longer can use the stock sway bar mount locations but it should be easy enough to make fit. This is a brilliant idea, I do think the torsion bar style sway bar like this is a superior design you can even replace the bar with a different one to change spring rate.
Hey Forrest, how are you doing mate? Hope all is well. Still meaning to reply to your email but I just got so tied up with life and work I forgot. I apologise for that. Winter is settling in here soon and come February, March and April the snow will be too high to drive anywhere so I will retire the jeep to the workshop and build up that np231. I have an email for this guy if you would like to contact him, I will put it in the description. That swaybar you have is meant to be pretty dam good from memory so I'm sure it will serve you well. Perhaps when RJ has produced his final design then it maybe an option.
@@WorkshoptoWilderness hey I'm doing ok I've been really beat down lately with some negative stuff but I'm trying to keep my head up and my wife and everything is all good I've been trying to work on the jeep and keep my head up I guess maybe I'm too sensitive of a person or something I just get very anxious and it's hard to do stuff sometimes and it's been tough lately but everything at home is good and that's what matters. I'm not sure how that works but I'd like to make it so you don't have to pay a ton of money to get it if I can do something differently.
@@WorkshoptoWilderness right on, it's no rush just whenever your ready. I'll keep a look out for your email. It was very weird but I think it sent eventually. I check my email daily lately.
Your jeep is not leaking it's just marking its territory. Awesome mod too! It has always been said "necessity is the mother of invention " , so then laziness must be its grandmother.
🤣 thats my scapegoat sorted then. It seems ridiculous that it continues to leak in all the same places despite constantly replacing the seals... pretty sure my axle is bent.
@@WorkshoptoWilderness it's probably insufficient mating surfaces (😉) with the seals and races, if that's the correct term. I don't know, my friend, super glue, duct tape, bailing wire, and prayers are the staples and go to's in my tool box.
My experience has been the opposite. I wouldn't run without one on the road with all the gear and family on board. The jeep always felt totally stable when it was connected and for good reason. Its also a legal requirement here along with the extreme winters where your driving on two inches of ice and often snow fall. But hey, these are just my reasons and experiences, you have saved some money not needed them. I cant take mine off or I'm not allowed to drive...

Fantastic XJ. I am currently running a JLU but it reminds me of past X J 's. If I had one like yours I would still be in it.. Can you send contact info for RJ 's shop. Looks like the perfect sway bar set up.
Thank you! I put an email in the description which he's setup for enquiries. The JLU looks like a very nice jeep, extremely comfortable for longer trips. Thanks for watching
Seems like a proper product. It's like if the Antirock & SwayLoc had a bastard child this would be the offspring. Now what would put it over the top is a dual rate version. Personally not a body roll fan.
Seems well made and its nice that it's made in the USA. When you say your not at fan of body roll, do you mean when the jeep leans over? My rear end is really stiff and the spring rate is clearly higher than the front causing it to lean a lot.
@@WorkshoptoWilderness thank you I will be looking that up. I can't make up my mind if I want to drive it this winter or put it on jack stands for the winter. Michigan is Hell on vehicles.
Maybe get it prepared and treat it this winter ready for the next one. Dinitrol is pretty good though, I mean we get salt here in the cities and I don't have any issues
In the description is the contact details of the maker. He's only making them for jeeps at the moment but I believe he's got other plans too. You will have to contact him and ask him unless your able to make your own. I'm sure he would help with parts
@@WorkshoptoWilderness yeah thanks. Should be all the same things but just different lengths on the end links and width on the torsion bar. Thanks again
Not perfect but levelish. It locks itself on a spring once in the correct position. The locking positions on it are quite far apart fortunately. Haha yeah you could flex it out and lock it then drive home
Its a zink coated torsion bar. I'm not sure of the exact metal they use for torsion bars but I know it can corrode which is why he sent it off to get zink coated.
I didn't know that existed. I just looked it up. He did mention they existed, I think the goal was his is a lot cheaper and he has several options or torson bar for different jeep weights.
From what I understand recently he has stopped production. I will rename this video as its misleading. I think he might start up again one day but the item price was 800USD and he received a lot of backlash for the price.
Your build is absolutely awesome, still watching every single second and enjoying how your XJ is evolving. Mine is going slow, but getting there
What an amazing design for a disconnect swaybar.
Lmaoooo "okay, I'm lazy. Alright?"
You got me. That was hilarious 😂
Ole Jeepy is full of surprises this episode
The last few minutes of this video is the best 😂
When I first saw the pics you posted of this disconnect I thought- Genius! Pretty cool of this RJ guy to repurpose a locking hub.
Its a decent bit of kit. I can understand why I wouldn't suit everyone but for an all-round rig it seems like a solid solution. Thanks for watching
Always work smarter not harder! Great up grade!
just great one more mod I need to get for my XJ
Nice addition to a perfect truck 👍🏴
You got me into bushcraft with your old channel and now I want an XJ 🤣
You said bushcraft lol 😅
Nice rig. I like this option. I ended up going with swaylock. But I didn't know about this. This is pretty cool

I'm now imagining that with a little elec motor to do the switch and a button on the dash :)
Its not far fetched at all. I guess an electronic locking hub exists somewhere.

Супер!!! Давно думал,как решить эту проблему .
Lol. This is so cool. Great idea. Big Tires will hit hubs though . I think 33in tires will bash the hub
I have 35s and they don't touch the hub. Not even on full lock stuffed into the fender. The kit relocates the swaybar forward.
That is so cool where can I get that now?
If you check the description there is a contact link for a guy called RJ. He builds them and I think hes just started producing them full time.
Great design, although the clamping joint on the fixed arm looks like the weak point for me.
I will keep testing it and see how it holds up. It seems very strong.

Mike, is that backing plate with the bearing in it steel or aluminum?
Its steel. Its some kind of stainless or Its coated because nothing has corrosion on it yet.
Thanks Mike, good luck to RJ But damn that thing is pricey! Gotta try and make a much shittier version first lol
I know I watched the video but I don't remember what you undercoated your jeep with could you enlighten me
I used Dinitrol 3125 and a thicker Dinitrol over the top. Its holding up really well!

Does the Jeep have to be perfectly level when you lock in the hub? I'd like a sway bar that keeps me on my side all the way down the road. LOL.
Not perfect but levelish. It locks itself on a spring once in the correct position. The locking positions on it are quite far apart fortunately. Haha yeah you could flex it out and lock it then drive home

what steel is the main rod from?
Its a zink coated torsion bar. I'm not sure of the exact metal they use for torsion bars but I know it can corrode which is why he sent it off to get zink coated.
Isn't this just a copy of the Skyjacker Rock Lock sway bar? It uses a selectable hub exactly like this.

I want one! Is there a way I can get a hold of him without Instagram?
I will message him and see if I can get some other way of contacting him. Maybe I can give him your email?
Hes created and email - rjsdesertspeedshop@gmail.com
You can contact him on that. Hope this helps.
@@WorkshoptoWilderness Thanks so much.
If you get it for free sure. If someone sold it it would be $4,000
I think it's about 300usd new. I paid 250usd but mine is like a prototype and the shipping to Sweden isn't great.
RJ doesn't respond for product purchase request. Nothing...nada!
