Heat the food packet in the water. (Use British mess tins. They are the right shape) Eat from the packet with that disposable racing spork. Use the water to make your tea. No mess to clean up. Saves water.
Yeah that's what I was thinking, it defeats the point to not eat it in the packaging as in the field you can't be using a million pans for each meal and having to clean everything up

The hot chocolate; Save a bit of it (roughly a spork full) and boil your muesli. After the muesli is done, get the hot chocolate mix and add it to the muesli. Trust me with this.
Those dry fruit would of been made with a lyophilization process. Freeze dried, it involves freezing the product then lower pressure, then remove the ice with sublimation so the water is removed without becoming water on the product

Read the instructions contained within the ORP. They tell you how to prepare the food therein. You wasted a lot of water. The food is designed to be eaten hot or cold. Place the food sachet into your cooking utensil, then top it up with water and place the utensil on your stove. When the water has boiled for a few minutes take the utensil off your stove, remove your sachet from the boiled water, open the sachet, and eat your food. Saves having to clean your cooking utensil and you can have a hot drink! Put hot or cold water into the muselie packet for the same reason.

Adding the cheese to meals Is a pro tip, I like adding it to meals that have beans aswell but for me it's a must with the pasta dishes. Same goes for the peanut butter adding it to the muesli is great.

I love how many of these MRE reviews complain that the food could be so much better. As a former soldier, they're not made to be cordon bleu, they're designed to shovel in as many calories as possible as quickly as possible, with less fuss as possible. The trade off is that the food isn't exactly restaurant standard. It simply serves a purpose. If we wanted the restaurant experience, we had Pot Noodles from the NAAFI shop.
If I remember right, we called the biscuits, biscuit browns. I preferred the fruit biscuits in the red packets, crushed and mixed with melted chocolate yorkie bars, usually on the engine louvres, mixed together in a sealable bag and allowed to cool hard before eating
I had to freeze the video and check the writing on the package as they looked more like some kind of cracker to me, but sure enough they are biscuits brown. The design has changed since the 90's as back then they were a lot smaller and looked more like darker more solid digestives. Just about everyone loved them, but yeah you didn't need a number two anytime soon after eating them.

maybe the large spork is a nod to the racing spoon, traditionally you would carry a massive spoon on exercise and ask your mates if you could have a spoonful of their scran, when they said yes you would produce your ridiculously oversized spoon and help yourself to half of the pot with just one spoonful 😂😂
Retry the matches at a 90-degree angle. Only the tip will ignite. And didn't they have some type of stove or flameless heater? Military people wouldn't be carrying your stove or pots.
That's if you eat the gum that comes with the MRE. The gum is supposed to help sustain that during long hikes. Unless they changed it after a couple years?
