Actually perfect for emergency store if you can get them cheap enough. A case of 10 means you can feed a few people for ‘ a while’ with self contained meal pouches. Great to throw in a backpack for hikes, bushcraft etc and you can hot swop with friends
How retro about Nescafé their labels haven’t changed from my Cold War years including Falklands, N. Ireland, And parts of the world. I guess cans are now out, yet our 24hr ration pack was the envy of the world because of its variety back in the day, and was more than enough for the average squaddie.
When opening your 'MRE' pack, take your knife and run it along the side of the bag, instead of the top, you end up with much easier access to the food. Your hand and spoon handle don't get covered in food either when you use that technique.
@@rodster6campingprepper No problem, mate. I saw your video with the 'Baofeng' radios, how are they now, do they still run as well as they did in the video test?
The singular price at £18.99 from MRE Mountain is uneconomic. Once you buy 4 packs you get 20 snack bars thrown in for £50...which is ok. Single packs at my local Army surplus are £12, so worth shopping locally, just don't buy everything else in the shop while you're there!
I have to rely on online as my local army surplus closed down years ago sadly. Used to love going in there. Got my first knife, canteen and mess kit from there.
It's mainly tuna wth onion and mushroom for breakfast, salmon sandwich and two eggs for lunch, chicken and veg for tea then salmon steak for supper. Though sometimes supper will instead be a tin of beans or chicken chargrill. Then to snack I have greek yoghurt, dark chocolate smoothies.
HI Great review !! , If I can add a few points these ration packs are cleverer than what you think , on operations its near impossible to cook 3 meals a day your lucky to be able to eat once , hence all the nuts drinking chocolate rasins bIscuits chocolate bars can be all mixed together in to a sludgy porridge to have warm Or tipped in to the brown plastic outer bag all the condiments are packed in , it sits in your inside smock pockets where your body heat will take the chill of it and u just grab a spoon full as a when you have a halt , same with the foil pouch main meals , the british army realised years back after the big ` move` to dehyrated /freeze dried packets became popular there really was no gain with them you still had to carry water to ` activate` them so you really were not weight saving and unlike these British rations if you try to eat reydrated rations un cooked they taste like sh&t !!
Also the older style ration packs issued up until the early 90s were designed to be able to eat cold if necessary although ideally hot food should have been eaten in the morning, and the evening. The reason being that the components were either in small tins which you heated in what I now know as a bain marie i.e. a mess tin with water in it, or in pouches to which water was added and they'd reconstitute themselves in a couple of minutes i.e. rolled oats, apple flakes. Tinned stuff like curry, bacon grill/burger, even steak and kidney pud could be eaten cold although we rarely had to. We always had to boil water in the morning for washing/shaving, so some water was then used for a brew. and to make oats which were often mixed with the apple/apricot flakes & even the hot chocolate to make a sweet gooey mess but always inside a pouch so if you got ''bumped'' you could stick it in a pocket and run. Actual freeze dried meals were only ever in arctic ration packs afaik
The small green tube which you think is an energy drink is in fact a jam sample .
Thanks, i'll pin the comment so hopefully people see.

Love your channel for its candid and clear reviewing, especially your stealth, military style camp craftiness. Brilliant job mate. Atb. Harry
That sounds handy, I might check that out.
Loving all the videos recently keep up the good work 😁⛺️

Really simple tip I hadn't thought of so thanks, I'll do that next time.

I got the menu 2 it was more than enough for a one day , tasty too . Great review !👍👍
As an ex soldier...My God they have improved a bit since the 1970's, bloody Tabasco sauce ha ha ha
Picked up a pack to live off for a day. Just for fun. 😂
might have to tell the kids to get me one for a gift 😂
As always mate another great video 🤟
Good idea. I might get my family to stock me up on these at christmas for next year.
Are those packs designed so you can boil the contents while still in pack? I'd be worried about plastic seeping into food.
You’ll eat anything when you’re cold n hungry
What life span on these packs?
Now I'm curious what your weekly meal plan is....might just be me 😛

Oh and apples, bananas etc.
@@rodster6campingprepper sounds quite nice. It's good to keep it simple sometimes!

Those aren't brownies, they stop you shitting for a month though.
I can see your face and your arms but nothing else. What is going on?
Those turnovers are disgusting 😋
