Yeah they both are using 2-3-5. I was waiting an analysis for this! By the way, Zidane's Real Madrid also used 2-3-5. I think the reason is 2-3-5 gives numerical superiority on every position of field against 4-4-2, which is the most typical defensive formation.
Nouman I was expecting you to go more in-depth as to the each formation’s strengths and weaknesses and which system you think is overall more effective... can you please make a part 2 to this??? thanksssssssssssss can i support u on Patreon or sth???
Sean Li if he starts punching holes in their system both teams will start losing games because opposite video analyst will watch Nouman's video use it against Liverpool and Man city. Sarri arguably started losing after King Nouman explained the strength and weakness of Chelsea's game on UA-cam and important of Jorghino under Sarri. They play the same way as city, sometimes they also push their fullbacks higher, and they have more flexibility as both tielemans and praet can play as more defensive cms, so can cover for advanced fullbacks
Just a point about these strategies: Liverpool and Man City mainly plays at different tempos too. While Liverpool looks to recover the ball and attack immediately with pace to get the opposition's defense disorganized, Man City mainly looks to control the game moving the ball and the opposition with short and fast passes, building its attacks more patiently (stabling its defensive transition at the process). Because of its strategic differences they play at different widths: narrowing a defense makes more easy to attack at the counter while stretching a defense makes more easy to penetrate low-blocks.
Aha!!! Their is one fault yes Klopp do attack the wide space but doesn't allow both full backs high up the pitch if trent attacks from his side Robertson stays in his possession to give defensive cover and viz.
It doesn't happen a lot. There is no of occasion we can see the fullbacks switching the ball to the other wing while attacking. Specially Trent giving cross field balls to Andy, and Andy crossing it in the box
I think comparing Leicester's 2-3-5 would have been interesting. Man City and Liverpool are both possession-based teams who pretty much always attack with the same front 5. Leicester is now a high possession team as well (58% average possession and 5th most passes) BUT they have different options in attack. Rogers is almost creating a hybrid of the two systems - sometimes the full-backs attack the wide spaces and sometimes the CMs attack the half-space - which can be more unpredictable and fluid. Against 10-man-Southampton they routinely exploited both and had 3+ men in the box for all 7 of their goals from open play. However, it can also lead to a higher loss of possession (1st for total tackles). Whereas Klopp and Pep use their formation and pressing to limit the opposition in transition, Rogers's Leicester relies on the individual tackling ability and recovery runs of their players (1st and 2nd for individual tackles, Ndidi and Pereira). This seems to be working so far though with the joint lowest goals conceded (8) having played 5 of last years top 7 already in their first 10 games.

that's what i was looking at yesterday that both of them play a lot of crosses in, liverpool depends more on passing attributes of alexander arnold and robertson whereas man city depends on how much they've pulled out the fullbacks of the opposition
Whats so good about these teams is their adaptability, all these players (CM/AM, Fullbacks, Wingers and Strikers) are dynamic and are able to switch the roles they do. If TAA is having trouble putting crosses in due to being well marked, movement will occur that will open up space for the player or for another supporting player. Already knew how both teams set up offensively but also how both teams play the same formation but totally different at the same time. The counter to both formations would be to play it long to the wide areas where they would only have two cb’s back on defence and you could easily isolate one of them on the wide areas to create chances for the second runner in behind or to take the defender on and score.
Another aspect missing from this video is how the differences in their attacking approach(creating space/attacking vacant zones) is based on their different counter-pressing approach. Klopp wants his front 3 in central positions immediately after regaining possession in order to finish attacks, whereas Guardiola wants to restructure the circulation phase and requires his midfielders in attacking zones to help retain possession and combine out of the press as soon as they regain possession. Anyone with further knowledge might be able to elaborate on this aspect better than me.
Liverpool’s front three are normally all over the park though, sometimes it’s hard to pin down where they actually play. In the match vs leicester, mane seemed as if he started on the right, but he was roaming all over - I’d like to get insight into how klopp uses that constant switching of positions to break down teams.
Can you do analysis on Leicester, they're in top 3 now and their play is different from top 2 team. They seem to operate without true winger and attack from the middle. Not sure if that's right
but like if you've seen the game against southampton, chillwell was on fire, he puts in so many crosses and scored a goal too, i think having a strong defensive midifeld in ndidi gives them a defensive wall and with tielmans and maddison, the ability of vardy to get in spaces behind defenders, they really make it hard for opposition to do much, liverpool almost got vardy out of the game and leicester suffered but leicester is playing some great football and they're pretty good at it, rodgers is doing a very very good job, he has been my 3rd best manager this season behind wilder and lampard, now arsenal is ruining that why they didn't got him instead of emery
The only level up after both City and Liverpool is if team comes along that can play both high octane, pace, intensity and technical ability as both teams. At the moment I believe PSG is heading there with out Neymar and Mbappé at times, they are playing as team, they have thrashed teams in CL group stage so far. Idrissa Gueye in the Kante role has made them very good at pressing, it will be interesting to see Gueye/Marquinhos/Veratti stepping up fit, Neymar/Mbappe/Cavani/Di Maria/Icardi can come together who ever starts that they play as team against Barce/Liverpool/Juvi/Atleti/City/Bayern....during the knock out stages.
Imagine if some up and coming manager decides to use both klopp and pep tactics. The manager would just use pep's tactics for Premier league and klopp tactics for the champions league
There's another point there. Liv uses muchier longer air balls than City, that's why its attackers are positioned altogether as it increases the chances of recovering the second ball and then instant counter-attack. 👌 In opposition, Guardiola prefers ground passes because City's players are smaller and more skilled for dribbling and passing. Each coach uses different practical approaches as they are suitable to the available players.
Danilo and Daniel Alves are one of the few players who can play sometimes in the midfield part. That's why they were appreciated by Guardiola. They wouldn't feel uncomfortable passing only sideways or backwards.
Lahm played that too, Guardiola said about Lahm he is the most intelligent player he has ever worked with, coming from manager that came from Barcelona, that something!
What Klopp's Liverpool are doing now was already done by Zidane at Real Madrid. Zidane used the same tactics - 2 CB's, 3 CM's in the middle of the park, 3 strikers in central area with Benzema dropping deep to link up play and 2 fullbacks, Carvajal & Marcelo, exploiting the wide spaces making incisive runs and delivering crosses into the box. Result - 3 consecutive Champions League Trophies.
Peps tactics are more suited in the premier league than the champions league as in the premier league there are 14 teams that probably sit in a low block most of the match so when the wingers pull the fullbacks wide, the smaller team are left exposed. But in the champions league, every team is attacking, so the opponent wouldn't sit in a low block but the complete opposite which is pressing back, basically peps tactics are ineffective against attacking sides that are willing to press and play out with short quick passes
Their natural way of attacking seems really great. Ole managed to nullify klopps team for a good 60-70 minutes using the 5 3 2. You analyzed that game so we know how that worked . I was wondering if that's how nuno Santo too managed to nullify city's threat because he used a 5 3 2 too didn't he ? Was it the same fundamentally like oles 5 3 2 & if it was different , why so ?
I don't think you can't nullify pep's 235 using ole's 532. I believe so because the attacking midfielders can start their runs from behind the opponent center backs and thereby there will be a sufficient number of crosses to make an impact.
Awesome video mate I always used to think the same abt this teams (coz I only watch these 2 teams only in recent years) but now I can say that I have some knowledge of tactics because u confirmed it now that I was right the way I used to think about these teams tactics ❤
" Game of the season. Widen or close the gap? Is it a clash of PL title? Will Klopp and his guys be able to exploit their brilliance nowadays? How is Pep unlucky due to injuries? " Although Reds go clear six points, the clash of title race is very hot as the opponent is simply called Citizens Pep. If this gap is at another league,we may say that race is over. Concerning Anfield clash, it's gonna be a tough battle. I think that Klopp will have a big desire to win to widen the gap plus exploiting Citizens' injuries. On the other hand,Pep's first target is not to lose plus relying on the counter attacks to win. Klopp will rely on 4-3-3 . There won't be surprises through choosing the same players Klopp always relies on. Here's Reds'line-up; Alisson, Arnold, Robertson,Lovren,Van Dijk Fabinho, Henderson,Wijnaldum and MSF at the forward line. Klopp will start the game applying the high pressing to make Pep guys unable to build up. He will also rely on the direct playing through relying on his brilliant fullbacks. During Citizens' high pressing, Klopp will also tell his guys to make the long balls for Salah and Mané exploiting Citizens' fragile defence. Here comes role of Firmino who will drag Citizens' centre backs to empty spaces for his mates. What will Klopp do if Pep decides to leave the ball for Reds relying on the counter attacks? I think that Pep will do so as Klopp guys have no solutions during having the ball when the opponent tracks back to leave the ball for them. I think that Pep will rely on 3-5-2 like Solsjkaer did against Reds to make Arnold and Robertson unable to move forward. Here's Citizens' line-up; Walker, Fernandinho,Stones, Cancelo,Mendy,Gundogan,KDB,Bernardo, Sterling and Aguero. I think that Pep will divide the game into two scenarios. The first scenario will be about leaving the ball for Klopp guys especially at the first fifteen minutes. The second one is to posses the ball to drag Klopp guys.During having the ball, it's gonna be 4-2-3-1( Fernandinho will play alongside Gundogan / Walker will play alongside Stones/ Cancelo and Mendy will stretch the playing as fullbacks/ Bernardo and Sterling play as wingers/ KDB will be at pockets to make deep passes to Aguero). During leaving the ball for Reds, Fernandinho will be the third centre back(3-5-2). Aguero will track back to empty spaces for Sterling. Both will be told by Pep to exploit the spaces between Van Dijk and Lovren. During the counter attacks,Bernardo and Sterling will be used as wingers to wait behind Robertson and Arnold. I think that Mahrez will have a role to be used as a right winger to exploit the empty spaces behind Arnold . Mahrez will be a good weapon when Klopp guys get exhausted due to the counter pressing they will carry out. To sum up, Sunday clash may greatly determine shape of title race. Reds' Victory will make Klopp have good steps towards the title while Citizens' one will make Pep press upon Klopp like the last season.
Thanks for explaining the different yet same approach of offence of the two. But i think Manchester city is more than just crosses. There is aloy more to analyse and learn from Pep Guardiola tactics.
Pep needs world class players like David Silva and Kevin De Bruyne to attack the half spaces. While Liverpool's wing back , one is an academy player while the other cost just 8 mil.
And when De Bruyne, Silva and Aguero are covered by defenders, He cut inside between defenders and midfielders ,and score easy goals. Otherwise staying wide give him a lot of 1on1 situations, It help him come to many opportunities.
@904 Caller pep is a great coach and tactician but pep needs a silver spoon. all his achievements are made of plenty of money and talents.barca, bayern ,city all have so much money. klopp made a bvb which has newcastle type funding to back to back title. pep net spend is 500m klopp net spend is some 120m.
And coz of that, robertson & trent with most assist in livrpool while bruyne in city..because of this space exploitation..

Hi I'm uncle Piak from Thailand. I like your video. Nice video
U have done a incredible job... Great work bro...🔥🔥🔥🔥
" Game of the season. Widen or close the gap? Is it a clash of PL title? Will Klopp and his guys be able to exploit their brilliance nowadays? How is Pep unlucky due to injuries? "
Although Reds go clear six points, the clash of title race is very hot as the opponent is simply called Citizens Pep.
Awesome video!
Great video. Thanks for sharing
Will you be uploading tactical analysis of Ajax vs Chelsea 0-1
most of the possession based teams try to attack the back 4 with 5 attackers
what do you think nouman when did this started to happen.
Can you make a "difference between city and peps barca" video bro
Pep barca attack from middle and pep city attack from wide and wing side this is main different in pep barca and pep city
Superb video♥️
Thanks Nouman
Please do OLE Man United tactics please like so that nouman can see this and think everyone is eager to know his tactics
Navanith Krishna he has no tactics... simply put.
Crimson Acolyte 😂😂😂
Good anlysis!!
I am curious about how they defend.
Is it individual brilliance or some system which they follow?
Oh yeah please make this @nouman
Both.
1st - How coach tells them to defend organize in diffrent matches.
2nd - Rest is up to Individual brilliance.
Wow!!! How did you even notice this 😍
Thanks for explaining the different yet same approach of offence of the two. But i think Manchester city is more than just crosses. There is aloy more to analyse and learn from Pep Guardiola tactics.
For the next vidio please make the different defensive system between those two club. It would be nice.
more tactics like this,thank you
Beckham would love to play for these two teams because they play lots of croses although they are his previous team's rivals.
amazing analysis of the game
Nouman you are the best
Great video
Brilliant mate !!!!!😊
Pep needs world class players like David Silva and Kevin De Bruyne to attack the half spaces. While Liverpool's wing back , one is an academy player while the other cost just 8 mil.
thanks for explaining this
The counter of this would be to be brave and try keep 3 men up field at all time hitting them on the counter preferably with 3 pacy forwards
How & from where you get this clip videos of gaols and tactics ?? & how can I get a full match to watch from internet?? Please answer me nouman.
Tanks for video clip

Hes been shit
@@stephenjames227 either you are shit or you are blind. Either way, fuck off!
And sterling scoring goals staying wide what a man
Stays wide but dogs into the space behind the defence when KDB or silva gets the ball.
And when De Bruyne, Silva and Aguero are covered by defenders, He cut inside between defenders and midfielders ,and score easy goals.
Otherwise staying wide give him a lot of 1on1 situations, It help him come to many opportunities.
Difference is that Klopp is a real manager.
Pep is a cheque book manager.
Can you do a video analysis about Chelsea vs Ajax? Ajax is unbeaten for 10 games in their turf until that match against Chelsea, cheers
