I drained my coolant as thoroughly as I could in my 2011 Kia Sorento by running the heat and about 5 quarts came out. From what I read, this is normal due to a couple of quarts remaining in engine block and heater core.
Its been over a year now and everything running fine with me. Water pump didnt run dry at all. There was zero squealing during this procedure. How else will you remove the old coolant?
@@AutomotiveForBeginners that's good news for me, because I also tried this way First But I didnt really like it. I think the Best solution is several flushing with distilled water and maybe putting out the termostat. It is situated at the end of the lower hose, into the EGR and termostat housing. No bad feelings, my friend we are trying to learn something here 🤔😅
Correct, definitely do not run the engine under no coolant, correct method it to flush using standard water or suitable flush solution then replace with coolant once flushed, DO NOT run engine without coolant.
How many gallons of anti freeze is needed for a 2012 Sorento 2.4 L 4 cylinders. Need to do the radiator drain and flush. I am about to get two of them, but wanted to make sure. Thanks
Best bet is to find a manual that discloses that information. But if you rather eyeball it, you can buy around two 5 liter jugs (50/50 premixed) and fill until you overfill. Good luck!
Hey quick question. Where is the thermostat on this sorento..i have the same one, same year..my temp is fluctuating on mines and i wanna diy it..asap me..thanks..and good job on viddy..👍👍
No worries my man. One way to do it is follow the radiator hose until it reaches end of joint. On the top part. Got a pic here from the manual: drive.google.com/file/d/1UGAQhY3-B1oAg2h-3RFfst422qhNJc3I/view?usp=sharing
@@trubblekleff3655 I think it will be in a similar spot. Theres only 2 hoses and you cant really mess this up taking one hose out or another. Try unclamping the top hose first.
@@AutomotiveForBeginners yo thanks man..I really appreciate it..this my 1st time ever working on a vehicle..some way just looking at your vid gave me the enginuity to do it myself..u saved me a lot of money like geico lol..hats off to you broly..👍👍👏👏
No worries my bro, glad to hear it. Quite the undertaking to go for drain and fill on coolant system as your first go. That's next level beginner status. I can already assume you finished the job successfully then. Easy peasy. 👏👏
umm how the heck did you poke a hole there under the radiator? i dont see any way of taking that out. there is no screw to unscrew if i stick a phillips in there it would just - probably puncture that?
yeah thanks. great help, 2012 is almost in the same spot, just facing the the engine 👍

I got just under 6 litres.
Great work thabks bro
I could pop drain plug from up top. No need to remove skid plate
2012, same, left skid plate also
Everything fine, except engine running during draining process? What about water pump running dry, I Am not sure this is ok....

@@AutomotiveForBeginners I would remove the coolant drain plugs on the block.

Maybe the whole bottle. Just top up if your car needs more fluid. Check the levels.
