I've heard that in a horde battle, Durant & Heatmor & Zangoose & Seviper will attack themselves more than they attack you which is actually really funny but terrifying if one of them is shiny.
My favorite Easter egg is in FRLG, where there’s one Team Rocket member who, upon triggering a battle, will ask the player if they’re Giovanni’s kid. After being defeated, they say “no, Giovanni’s kid has red hair.” which is foreshadowing the event in HGSS where it’s revealed that Silver is Giovanni’s son
The manga touched up on this as well. HGSS of course confirmed the relation within game canon, but it was initially implied in the manga prior during the FRLG chapter.
The fact that GameFreak added a hidden Lava Cookie under the SS Anne truck is so hilarious, it shows that the fake Mew rumour was so widespread and powerful around the world that even GameFreak knew about it and acknowledged it haha (Plus the fact that SM referenced Reggie is incredible, I still can’t believe that)
Fun fact: in Sword and Shield, your switch will actually replicate your actual Joycon color in real life. I realized this when replacing my Joy Cons with a new shiny black-n-gold pair. Pretty cool!
i noticed that right away bc my switch is the animal crossing version, il had te pretty pastel joy-cons, and allmmy games showed what joycons i had (i think lets go eevee does it too, not just swsh, i'll have to check)
It's working in all the games that are on the Switch and have your character's room in it. So in Sword and Shield, the Let's Go games, Scarlet and Violet - about Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl I am not sure if they have it too.
Something interesting is that the Galarian Mr. Mime called Marcel that you can see in Wyndon in the SwSh games is a reference to the first pokemon games where you can trade an Abra for a Mr. Mime that is also called Marcel. The name Marcel isn´t just a random name either, it´s also a reference to the legendary french mime Marcel Marceau. Also, if you go to Spikemuth, one of the posters in the walls is a reference to Misty. By the way not exactly an easter but still really cool. In legends arceus: Cogita (her name is latin for "I know"), Volo (his name is latin for "I want") and Cynthia (her name comes from the latin word Sentia, which means "I feel"). So basically: knowledge, willpower and emotion like the three lake guardians.
I kinda feel like they worked backwards for that, and it also only works in languages where her name IS Cynthia, since that isn't always her name. In Japanese she's Shirona, for instance, which involves shiro, white, to contract with Akagi (Cyrus) being aka, red. The name Cynthia is associated with the moon (via the goddess Artemis if I remember right) to contrast with Cyrus's name referring to the sun. The usual translation of cogito is "I think", as in "cogito, ergo sum" "I think, therefore I am"

They’re not the only content creators who have master trainers named after them, either. I know that Alex and Jirard from Super Beard Bros both have trainers named after them (Clefable and Dratini, based on their Co-op let’s play of FRLG) and I believe that there are a number of others, as well.

I think my favourite music reference in pokemon is that Gladion and Lillie's themes both use samplings of Mystery Dungeon music. "Run Away, Fugitives" for Gladion and "Parting ~ Farewell" for Lillie.
I still remember Mikey reacting to a video on PaPaSea and the guidebook saying, “all the battles in the team rocket hideout are optional, except for the ones that aren’t.”
My favorite Easter egg is in FireRed/LeafGreen, a hiker in rock tunnel will start off with the line “hit me with your best shot!” after defeating him he’ll say “Fire away!”
I've always felt that the whole cubone thing is not that it's literally it's dead mother's skull but it's more like the skull that Marowak wears as a helmet gets passed down as a sort of heirloom
In ORAS, there is an ace trainer in Rustboro that gives you a Float Stone. When you leave and come back, he has turned into a hiker, stating 'He's put on some extra weight recently'.
6:12 Maybe that was a teaser for Alolan Raichu 15 years before Sun & Moon were released. Coincidence? Ehh probably. Maybe they were thinking for Alolan forms and they just looked at surfing Raichu and went: "Why don't we get Surfing Raichu and make it Electric/Psychic!"
Love how grunty boi is slowly becoming nicer with every video he’s in. Would love to see the day he gives up on being a team rocket grunt and be a member of team sky who’s better lolll
@@LatinGiudo817 Everyone knows who Pikachu is. lol And plenty of millennials (Like myself) know about Pokemon Pikachu as well. That doesn't make you old.
There's some fun Easter eggs in PLA if you look on the walls of the houses of the different clans. Both clans will have a picture of a redheaded man who bears a striking resemblance to Alder, and many fans assume this is the likeness of the Ancient Hero. The clans also have pictures of who we can only assume are meant to be their founders, done in traditional Japanese style, and boy howdy does it have some hilarious lore implications because they look shockingly like Archie and Maxie. Apparently their feud is ancestral!
One of my favorites is that the gen 2 female rocket grunt sprite is based off of Cassidy, a Team Rocket member from the pokemon anime, who was based off a rocket grunt on a pokemon card that came out in 1997. The first episode featuring Cassidy, "The Breeding Center Secret", was released in Japan in 1998, while Gold and Silver were released in Japan in 1999.
Listen, my guy. Stand By Me is a classic. I'm from Maine. Stephen King actually wrote Stand By Me under a pseudonym. Also I'm 30 and grew up playing Pokemon Blue when I was a kid. The fact that I grew up playing a game which referenced an author (who is also from the town I am from, not just state) had always made this series feel a bit closer to my heart. Plus it's a damn good movie. Please watch it.
Explaining the Marowak and Cubone scene: It’s likely an adopted parent or older cousin that found out about the death of Cubone’s mother, and takes care of Cubone.
The “Mew behind the truck” got me. I actually went through the trouble of doing this, only to find it was a lie. It wasn’t just Cut either. It’s been YEARS but I’m pretty sure you had to have a Pokémon with Cut and one with surf. I seem to remember you get cut before you get surf. In order to get there you had to employ some sequence skipping with those Pokémon.
I cannot overstate my fear upon Grunty Boi saying that he "Can't cook well, food that is" as my brain immediately went to a certain illegal thing that is created by "cooking" it. Grunty Boi has gone down a dark path, it seems.
So in my latest run through of Alola, my first going through Ultra Moon, my next battle was against Guzma. So once I'd beaten him, I went back and fought all of Nugget Bridge for more experience. Would never have thought to go back without this video so thank you, Michael :D
I'd like to see you do reactions to BlueBoyPhin's obscure pokemon facts videos. He actually goes over things a lot of people don't know, basically the opposite of CBR! 🤣
@@Aeistheticism yep! I was actually watching this video when Phin's uploaded and I watched that right after this. Wonder if anyones gonna try for that shiny jirachi
I know this isn't exactly obscure but one of my favourite series easter eggs is the Sevii Islands in FireRed and LeafGreen. The main purpose of this place is to give you access to the Gen 2 Pokemon you can't get in Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald, Colosseum and XD, since there's no way to transfer Pokemon between Gen 2 and 3 (Yes I've seen the video, but that was a whole process). But this isn't just to complete the PokeDex, there's a story layer too. At the end of the Sevii Islands storyline is the Rocket Warehouse which contains the Team Rocket members who would go on to become the Team Rocket in the Johto games, including Archer who becomes their leader. It's such a neat detail they didn't need to add that bridges the gap between the Kanto and Johto games really nicely, and on top of all this, once you beat them, one of the Johto Legendary Beasts will roam Kanto. Then add on the Celebi event in HeartGold and SoulSilver where we learn the reason Giovanni never came to help Team Rocket at Goldenrod Radio Tower is because you, the player, went through time and space and defeated him in battle right as the Goldenrod takeover was happening, effectively changing the past without you even knowing it. What a CRAZY overarching storyline this is.
"Ho-oh was planned to appear in the gen1 games but"... Oh my god, someone here that knows ho-oh's first appearance was not in the anime episode but in a guidebook featuring two new pokemon from the (already confirmed) gen2 games?
Another cool one from Let's Go, is if you go into the museum in Pewter, and the Pokémon following you can evolve with a Moon Stone, it will stop and be fascinated by the big Moon Stone they have on display. Saw this firsthand with the male Nidoran I used in Let's Go Pikachu. And yet, Mew does nothing if you take it to the truck.
For some reason after hearing the fact that Lusamine has frozen statues of Pikachu, Slowpoke, and Pyukumuku for some reason made me theory craft that she could be a froslass because froslass is known to freeze men or Pokémon that they like and keep them like statues or trophies in their caves or something like that but I bet that’s not true at all but I just wanted to put it out there in the comments
One of the gym trainers in the poison type gym from Unova (Roxanne?) is called Guitarist Billy-Jo, which I think is a reference to Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong?
Aside from the games, HERE'S SOME POKEMON JOURNEYS NEWS! (MAJOR SPOILERS) 1- Ash Greninja coming back in episodes 108 (latest is 105) 2- Lisia did her anime debut and even did the scout thinge 3- Serena comes back and even meets Ash! 4- Wallace battles ash, ash wins, may/dawn reference too 5- Ash won the battle against elite four drasna! 6- He's currently ranked number 9th in the entire world (world coordination series!)
On the subject of Lusamine's frozen Pokémon, anyone else ever wonder if she'd do the same with people she "loves" too, at least those outside of her family?
I wonder how many theories surfaced about the lava cookie and somehow linking it all back to that being Arceus's favorite snack when they let humans have trucks but barely use them in society.
If Cubone doesn’t take it’s mother’s (or father’s, for that matter) skull after her (/his) death, as evidenced in LGE/P and Origins, does it just hatch with an accessorized skull that just so happens to fit its eyes (which BTW isn’t part of it’s biology, as it’s detachable)?
surprised there was no mention of the missigno silhouette in XY. At lumiose city you can find an entrance to a restaurant that has a dark blue shape (which looks like missingno) inside of the black square that warps you to the inside of the building. Pretty cool one imo
Love the video! but I'm just stopping by to say that Grunty Boi needs his own series! I've been catching up with a lot of content that I missed recently and I've found myself saying "it is I, Grunty Boi" every time I walk into a room 😂
We all know that Ash in the anime often tells his Pikachu to use a "move" called thunderbolt, but did you know that there's an easter egg about this in the video games? Not only do "moves" exist and not only is thunderbolt one of them, but it's one that all pikachus can learn! Crazy how well they implemented the anime (and the manga it's based off of) into the games!
Did you know? In the anime it is revealed that pikachu can evolve into raichu, and the games referenced that by adding an item to cause this!!! Can’t believe they referenced the anime so well
Another cool easter egg if you play USUM: If you reverse the Ultra Wilds' music, you get the "Welcome To Alola" theme, and if you reverse the Ultra Ruins' music, you get the Hau'oli City theme.
One idea for the whole Cubone's mother thing, which Origins still ruins via that flashback: The whole mother's skull thing is like a phoenix-like reincarnation. When a Marowak dies; their body decays/de-evolves into a brand new Cubone with their former skull landing on the head of their reincarnation.
In Pokémon Ultra sun and Moon the Ultra ruin theme is actually the Hau’oli city theme played backwards. Of course the environment hints at this with thing you can interact with but a cool and disturbing feature in my opinion, which ties to the anime that in the future a guzlord will consume Hau’oli city.
If I was in charge of the anime, or at least part of the writing, I'd be willing to insert Mikey in as an Easter Egg or character-of-the-day. Heck, I'd even get Grumpy Boi in!
Could we get someone to make an animation showing what would’ve canonically happened if the Mew Truck rumor was true, and Red or Leaf found it? Or maybe even Blue?
12:48 - I thought that had been proven false and, if you were to do it the games, you'd get the same reaction as using a Fighting-type move on a Ghost-type.
I've heard that in a horde battle, Durant & Heatmor & Zangoose & Seviper will attack themselves more than they attack you which is actually really funny but terrifying if one of them is shiny.
This is also a thing in SOS battles in Gen VII. Carbink can call Sableye, and Corsola can call Mareanie.

They’re not the only content creators who have master trainers named after them, either. I know that Alex and Jirard from Super Beard Bros both have trainers named after them (Clefable and Dratini, based on their Co-op let’s play of FRLG) and I believe that there are a number of others, as well.
I think I'm mostly upset that the Arin trainer doesn't have a Beedrill.
@@sarahyoungberg2084 Right?? lol
it was nice to see ross, danny was... okay, but arin? he's just such a terrible person that it ended up leaving a sour taste in my mouth. can't blame the translators, though - arin's been pretty successful at sweeping disturbing scandals under the rug.
The real Easter Egg was that Mikey doesn't know how to pronounce Arin.
Damn you know grunty boy is a very important and well-loved character when the minute he doesn't do his usual Happy intro your instantly worried for his well-being.🤣😂😆
I am surprised he didn't use Mikey's credit card to buy his food

I think my favourite music reference in pokemon is that Gladion and Lillie's themes both use samplings of Mystery Dungeon music. "Run Away, Fugitives" for Gladion and "Parting ~ Farewell" for Lillie.
Grunty boy: "I'm excellent at cooking...just not food"
When did Mikey turn this show into Breaking Bad?
I still remember Mikey reacting to a video on PaPaSea and the guidebook saying, “all the battles in the team rocket hideout are optional, except for the ones that aren’t.”
My favorite Easter egg is in FireRed/LeafGreen, a hiker in rock tunnel will start off with the line “hit me with your best shot!” after defeating him he’ll say “Fire away!”
CBR: DID YOU KNOW YOU CAN BE DAWN IN THE GAME FROM THE ANIME...
Mike: MAY DID THAT FIRST...
I couldnt stop laughing
I've always felt that the whole cubone thing is not that it's literally it's dead mother's skull but it's more like the skull that Marowak wears as a helmet gets passed down as a sort of heirloom
"The Game Freak, Morimoto" is technically still correct, Morimoto is programmed with the trainer class of "Game Freak"
That CBR roast at the end is gold. So much so, it's paired with silver and remade into heart gold.
At around 14:44 the "what the hell" is so genuine xD I love it so much
In ORAS, there is an ace trainer in Rustboro that gives you a Float Stone. When you leave and come back, he has turned into a hiker, stating 'He's put on some extra weight recently'.
6:12 Maybe that was a teaser for Alolan Raichu 15 years before Sun & Moon were released.
Coincidence? Ehh probably. Maybe they were thinking for Alolan forms and they just looked at surfing Raichu and went:
"Why don't we get Surfing Raichu and make it Electric/Psychic!"
yeah that ice room gets alot scarier when you you play the rocket postgame and the ice tanks are filled with bubbling red liquid
I mean that gets reversed after Colress uses his machine
Gio transformed the mansion
@@awesomeperson5150 That doesn't make it any less dark, let's be real here.
Love how grunty boi is slowly becoming nicer with every video he’s in. Would love to see the day he gives up on being a team rocket grunt and be a member of team sky who’s better lolll
I think the “Getting his steps in” could also be a reference to the Pokewalker, or the Pokémon Pikachu virtual pet…thing that came out around GSC.
Or it could be a reference to... walking
Another fellow fossil who remembers the Pokemon Pikachu 😳

Seeing Mikey trying to wrap his head around the stupid CBR article has made my day.
Oh yeah, I chuckled when I saw the other two pictures.
Gotta love how CBR glosses over how Misty is in fact a gym leader in the anime as well. Freaking CBR.
Thank you!!! I was freaking out about her being a gym leader along with her sisters in the anime! CBR is on crack 😂
Explaining the Marowak and Cubone scene:
It’s likely an adopted parent or older cousin that found out about the death of Cubone’s mother, and takes care of Cubone.
Petition to get an ice trainer in Scarlet in Violet to say “Hail Yeah”
He's a team rocket grunt, they gotta get that dirty money right here
By "certain illegal thing", you mean Slowpoketails, right?
>Talks about the Mew Truck
Do not cite the deep magic to me, i was there when it was written!
I love how this video starts off with some really good Easter Eggs and by the end it devolves into "did you know the games exist?!"
That's the magic of CBR
So in my latest run through of Alola, my first going through Ultra Moon, my next battle was against Guzma. So once I'd beaten him, I went back and fought all of Nugget Bridge for more experience. Would never have thought to go back without this video so thank you, Michael :D
I'd like to see you do reactions to BlueBoyPhin's obscure pokemon facts videos. He actually goes over things a lot of people don't know, basically the opposite of CBR! 🤣
Those videos are incredible he really should react to them
He just posted the tenth episode earlier too!

The most perfect reference to Mikey in the games would be for there to be a Trainer Mikey with only Miltanks
Jokes aside, an even better reference would be you saving a trainer named Michael from a Miltank.
CBR be like "Did you know that Bulbasaur is GREEN!?!?!?!?!?"
Aside from the games, HERE'S SOME POKEMON JOURNEYS NEWS! (MAJOR SPOILERS)
1- Ash Greninja coming back in episodes 108 (latest is 105)
2- Lisia did her anime debut and even did the scout thinge
3- Serena comes back and even meets Ash!
4- Wallace battles ash, ash wins, may/dawn reference too
5- Ash won the battle against elite four drasna!
6- He's currently ranked number 9th in the entire world (world coordination series!)
Playing the reversed OST: "What a cool thing"
Undertale players: *First time?*
On the subject of Lusamine's frozen Pokémon, anyone else ever wonder if she'd do the same with people she "loves" too, at least those outside of her family?
4:15, I almost thought he was going to say he's good at cooking dru-
Y'know what nevermind
I wonder how many theories surfaced about the lava cookie and somehow linking it all back to that being Arceus's favorite snack when they let humans have trucks but barely use them in society.
3:08 Imagine not having diamond dust on your birthday
If Cubone doesn’t take it’s mother’s (or father’s, for that matter) skull after her (/his) death, as evidenced in LGE/P and Origins, does it just hatch with an accessorized skull that just so happens to fit its eyes (which BTW isn’t part of it’s biology, as it’s detachable)?
surprised there was no mention of the missigno silhouette in XY. At lumiose city you can find an entrance to a restaurant that has a dark blue shape (which looks like missingno) inside of the black square that warps you to the inside of the building. Pretty cool one imo
*Damn! I never know about the Play It easter egg* I am going to try it immediately!!! Aaah I see it only works for version 1, I only got version 2
One Easter egg I noticed that I have never seen talked about anywhere is that there is a visible sprinkler system in brock’s gym in let’s go
Love the video! but I'm just stopping by to say that Grunty Boi needs his own series! I've been catching up with a lot of content that I missed recently and I've found myself saying "it is I, Grunty Boi" every time I walk into a room 😂
I never thought Mikey would care about grunty boi
We all know that Ash in the anime often tells his Pikachu to use a "move" called thunderbolt, but did you know that there's an easter egg about this in the video games? Not only do "moves" exist and not only is thunderbolt one of them, but it's one that all pikachus can learn! Crazy how well they implemented the anime (and the manga it's based off of) into the games!
Did you know? In the anime it is revealed that pikachu can evolve into raichu, and the games referenced that by adding an item to cause this!!! Can’t believe they referenced the anime so well
Did you know that you can see Clair in the anime? This is a reference to the games where you can see Clair!
Another cool easter egg if you play USUM: If you reverse the Ultra Wilds' music, you get the "Welcome To Alola" theme, and if you reverse the Ultra Ruins' music, you get the Hau'oli City theme.
The real Easter egg, is the CHANSEY line 😂
Chansey chansey
One idea for the whole Cubone's mother thing, which Origins still ruins via that flashback:
The whole mother's skull thing is like a phoenix-like reincarnation. When a Marowak dies; their body decays/de-evolves into a brand new Cubone with their former skull landing on the head of their reincarnation.
This Went From Being Intresting To " DID you know u can play as Dawn in pearl and diamond games????????"
Pokemon Fans: Discover clever a work around to reach the truck.
GameFreak: Good Job, have a cookie.
just by hearing that finding them on the internet is already an interesting topic for me.
Can we talk about how far Mikey has come to be sonpsered by hello fresh
13:24 Oh my God I actually remember adding that Delibird fact to that Bulbapedia page after seeing the CandyEvie video
Micheal would definitely be in the Casual Hoeen Baby Egg Group
In Pokémon Ultra sun and Moon the Ultra ruin theme is actually the Hau’oli city theme played backwards. Of course the environment hints at this with thing you can interact with but a cool and disturbing feature in my opinion, which ties to the anime that in the future a guzlord will consume Hau’oli city.
If I was in charge of the anime, or at least part of the writing, I'd be willing to insert Mikey in as an Easter Egg or character-of-the-day. Heck, I'd even get Grumpy Boi in!
Grunty boi
Grunty boi could appear to try and help Jessie and James beat Ash and Goh
Did CBR completely forget that Ash fought Misty for the gym badge in the first season…?
Could we get someone to make an animation showing what would’ve canonically happened if the Mew Truck rumor was true, and Red or Leaf found it? Or maybe even Blue?
Wow the CBR articles teach us something new everyday
12:48 - I thought that had been proven false and, if you were to do it the games, you'd get the same reaction as using a Fighting-type move on a Ghost-type.
Hello fresh. Now that’s a name I haven’t heard in a long time.
