I like that Hasbro did something different, but my vote would go to Legacy. It just looks and feels perfect for an adult collectible. Hasbro’s version is the kids toy we always wanted 30 years ago.
OtakuUnitedStudio I agree. If you’re going for cosplay, I would go with a resin 1:1 replica. No electronics or weight required. There used to be some amazing resin replicas of the dragon dagger/zyusouken years ago. Not sure if they’re still available.
The 90s one sounds like I'm getting an amber alert when it summons the dragon zord. Like Tommy is looking for a kid on top of a green mecha Godzilla lol.
@@gamingnubs7628 the only way i wpuld buy it is if they were as close to 1:1 scale as possible, just as this and the legacy collection had been. That being the case i dont see how it could be too large.
Even though I love the Hasbro Lightning Collection (especially the figures), I SOOOO miss the Bandai Legacy roleplay and zord line. It's so funny, how Hasbro, home of the Transformers, has basically ignored Zords for the most part, in the main and collector toyline.
Hasbro is actually better at developing action figures than robots. Their Marvel Legends line are some of the best figures at the $20 price point. Even though thr Transformers IP is shared by Hasbro and Takara Tomy, Takara mostly does the design and engineering.
I agree with you 100% about how none of the dragon daggers don't play "Go Green Ranger Go" It's just like how Legacy Saba didn't play "White Ranger Tiger Power" where with the Golden Power Staff played "Go Gold Ranger"

The sounds on the Lightning version are closer to Zyuranger while Legacy is more MMPR. I'll have both when my Lightning arrives but going by the review I think they're both great in different ways. I also think the lack of die-cast will make Lightning the preferred one for cosplayers. Less weight hanging at your side.
Hasbro can and will never top Bandai’s Legacy Dragon Dagger and their Legacy Dragon Symphony Zyusouken (Super Sentai version) and their stand 10 times better than those pieces of plastic that even has a large gold Dragozord coin in the middle. m.ua-cam.com/video/Iue2IhIQuTU/v-deo.html

What?! No on/off switch? Then how do we prevent Battery leakage when not in use? Remove the Batteries? If so, that a huge flop on Hasbro's end! Cause I prefer to turn off my electronics when not in use, to save energy.
Awesome review. I just picked up one of the Lightning Collection Dragon Daggers to use for conventions since I don’t need to press down on the mouth piece to summon the Dragonzord and because I think the light up effect and the added Dragonzord roar are nice additions. Shame none of these 3 Daggers or the Master Morpher play Go Green Ranger Go and instead we have 3 variations of the theme song that won’t see use. Like, a club remix of the theme song is neat and all but it feels unnecessary. Wish they would’ve kept the battle sounds the Legacy one had too. Another reason I picked up the Lightning Collection model was to retire my 90’s one because JDF signed it over the blade and to retire my Legacy one as JDF signed its box so I’m keeping them as display pieces to him. This one I wasn’t able to get signed so it’s getting played with lol. Luckily, it seems like the one out of the 3 best suited for play. The battle damage on the blade is another neat touch. It’s a shame Hasbro is doing away with producing Lightning Collection products as they had some real bangers.
I want Bandai to do a full MMPR Legacy weapon line that would make the blaster . I'd buy it all up lol. But yeah Lightning collection full line would be great. Especially sword of darkness that's a missed opportunity for both Bandai & Hasbro(if they don't announce) Fr Fr .
Let me be real honest, this is the only Dragon Dagger or Zyusouken that can be played like an actual flute. If anyone is skilled enough to play Burai's melody with this thing, I'll be proud.
Ive got the lighting one on pre-order and I’m seriously considering dropping it and getting the legacy one. I did have the legacy one a few years ago and sold it. As a collectible piece, the legacy one wins hands down for me. As a cosplay piece, lightning collection probably wins but seeing as I don’t cosplay it’s not for me.
I woudn't be an official Dosm Lightning Collection review if I didn't mix the names up. I do it in almost every review. Also, Legacy does fit on the Lightning Stand!
Wow. We finally get a toy with the actual Dragonzord roar sound. I know that roar is from Sound Ideas, so maybe Hasbro has a license for including it in toys and Bandai never did. Then again, it also has that whoosh sound mixed in, so maybe it's the version that came from that old soundbites album. It sounds like the pitch was modified in any case. One thing I did notice is that the music doesn't sound exactly like the show. The Legacy version doesn't either. Whether they used trumpets or something else for the original songs I'm not sure.
That's why I love my legacy dagger, its mouthpiece is a button so that was a nice surprise to make it look/feel like your doing it like the show. I just got it this month for $80 NIB MINT from a Canadian collector didnt know it's worth I guess😂Ebay can be great sometimes . My lightning Edition preorder just shipped tonight while GameStop had a 20% all collectables but they didn't adjust price like Amazon would've sadly . You should check to see if sale is available still.
The Hasbro one definitely has the most accurate music. Unfortunately its far too low. Although, the speaker could've been muffled against the table. I plan to collect all 5 of the Hasbro Lightning weapons, especially if they have a combining feature. But I'm not sure if I need another dragon dagger when I already have the other 2.
I feel like Hasbro should focus on other seasons instead of just MMPR. I would love to see other morphers and hopefully Hasbro releases older megazords.
I think I still prefer what Bandai has done for the fans. But I have to say the Hasbro version looks a bit more show accurate. Bandai's version looks like an amazing collectible. Just a shame we didn't get past the power sword. Would be nice to at least work out how to get the other weapons. But if anything, I think Hasbro's HasLab or just Hasbro Pulse will give us a better chance at completed the collection with the power sword, axe, bow, dagger, lance.
So, personal opinion from the video, I wish I could hear them in person, and maybe I will one day... The Hasbro one seems to have a more crisp speaker. It sounds less electronic than the Legacy one... Again, that is from the video, it might sound different in person. However, the one thing that I think is a legitimate problem with the Lightning one is the command song. Legacy's command song is correct. It ends on that higher note. The last note of the command song on the Lightning Collection dragon dagger is offensive to the ear... It is the equivalent to the "Aye, aye, ahh!" that glitches out on the Legacy communicator.
the lightning collection is the one you can carry on a cosplay while the Banday Legacy is the one you want to display on a glass shrine long with your premium toy collection.
Hell no. Hasbro’s Lightning Collection “props” are nothing but kid’s toys. Bandai’s Legacy Dragon Dagger is a heavyweight adult collectible containing diecast metal and 24 carrot gold, while the Lightning Dragon Dagger is basically just a light plastic toy that’s not worth wasting $50 on. Hasbro’s Lightning Collection Power Morpher isn’t worth wasting $50 on either because of the many inaccuracies it has such as how it’s way too bulky than the original, there is a huge gap between the power coin and the morpher, and the Power Rangers logo is way too thin compared to the 1993 and Legacy Power Morpher which were both used on screen. Unlike Bandai, Hasbro concentrates more on the item’s electronics than screen accuracy and the use of high quality materials.
The gold paint looks pretty bad given the price that's being charged. I don't like the weathered look on the blade. But the MMPR theme remix collection is pretty fun. Wooo Woooo Overall not great but still worth it if you don't own any version of the Dragon Dagger yet.
At least the weathered look made it look like a REAL weapon and not just a “Child’s Play” thing. Not everything you have in your home could not have a single scratch; objects age just like people.
Wait, so an instrumental version of the theme song will work but showing it actually doing The one from the show, with the words and everything, won’t for some reason. Weird
Show wise the Legacy Dragon Dagger is closer to what they use for the hero one. The LC Dagger is closer to the stunt. The gold metallic sheen of the hero version is between these two.
