And I was like "the what?!" And when she showed me I snatched it up so fast and was completely hooked from that point, but I couldn't have been happier between 2015 and 2016 with all the white ranger and 95 movie stuff releasing, I had gone to my mother's right after buying Saba and she took a picture of me holding the legacy dragon dagger and legacy saba then she dug out an old photo album and showed me a picture when I was a kid DOIMG the exact same pose holding the original Saba and dragon dagger and ironically wearing a similar shirt! God I loved the legacy line it's a shame they left so much unfinished and untapped like shogun megazord, the other movie morphers, villains and the 95 movie figures in the 6.5 inch scale! I hope Hasbro isn't actually abandoning the lightning collection so we can at least get the 95 movie figures and villains, personally I'm hoping for 95 movie helmets!
There's some error. The line was actually closed during Feb 2019 when long awaited and delayed Dino Thunder Yellow released repurposed into being a GameStop exclusive with the final Build-A-Megazord piece for Thundersaurus. The fun fact that it was still legal since Bandai America had the master license till Apr 2019. The other fun fact is that the box of this figure had the old Legacy boxes design, not the grey 25th anniversary one, which shows how long it was in development.
Legacy walked so that Lightning can run. I totally remembered this era. It was also kinda underrated. I saw a lot of stocked Legacy product at my stores. Unfortunately I missed the Legacy Megazord. I jumped in around the timeline when the Dragon Zord/White Tiger and the Dragon Dagger were out. I remember seeing like 4 or more Dragon Daggers at my Toys R Us for weeksss! I actually wanted to buy them all but I was younger, living in a smaller space and even spending that much msrp on figures and collectibles was new to me.
Awesome vid series! I always wanted someone to do a thorough look back on the Legacy Line. It's by far one of the coolest adult collector's ranges for fans of any franchise. I absolutely loved Bandai's commitment to adult collectors with incredible screen accuracy, high quality materials and pure nostalgia. It's a shame that it had to end, but I'm so glad we ended up getting what we did. I have fond memories of the early days of the line in 2013. Catching rumors of what would be made next, then going to my local Toys R' Us to see what was on store shelves was always a treat. I have a fair collection. I mostly skipped the action figures and the Zords and stuck mainly to the prop/roll-play items. The only things I missed out on that I wanted were the communicators. For some reason, the two releases just never showed up in my local Toy's R' Us. I'd love to someday put together some display sets for the morphers/weapons I have. I have a Green Ranger helmet from helmet maker Eric0101 that is absolutely freaking beautiful and would look even better paired next to the green morpher and dragon dagger. Thanks for making this look back on the Legacy series!
Great video! With the fragility of the brand in the IP changing hands, and Hasbro putting it on hold for a while, I've vastly reduced my collection. The Sentai SMP model kids have been a blast to collect! Hasbro kept releasing over priced and underbuilt cheaply made zords. I think I'll stick to the Japanese stuff to save space and keep up the quality. Shame Bandai America could have done so much more (and better) but ultimately did a damn good job for so many fans. Great video thanks!
I hope Hasbro sells the series and Bandai come back. They had so many good ideas that was left on the table because of that Hasbro deal. After Hasbro's CEO passed away, they showed more and more lack of interest in the series. The anniversary year last year was so meh and disrespectful to the series in a way that Bandai, Saban, and even Disney didn't do it as bad. I mean they literally celebrated Star Wars and Marvel during the month of the 30th anniversary and PR was no where to be found.
Looking at how Bandai of Japan handles Kamen Rider and Sentai toys with Shodo and Cho-do, I feel like someone in BOJ should have helped in BoA management. We could have something a lot more favorable if they tried doing BoJ's style of action figures. Hmmm.
@@ZZtheDark After buying several japanese figures and how BoJ has changed their toy philosophy since 2015, I feel a renaissance of Bandai getting their hands back on the series would be crazy. I feel like all those years of not doing Power Rangers would have us getting the Japanese molds again like back during late 90s-00s. Plus Bandai Japan has been a lot more open of doing collabs with third party companies. Imagine if they brought over the SMP(Super Mini-Pla) series. I feel like Bandai would have learned their lesson.
Sad that it seems like I barley missed out on collecting some awesome stuff (I didn't get into toy collecting until pretty much the same month when Toy R Us was closing)
The Legacy Collection line was the absolute best for Megazords and roleplay (Morphers and weapons). The 6.5" figures were okay for the time, but pretty bad in retrospect. Still collected the entire line when it came out, but ended up selling most of them when Hasbro took over with the Lightning Collection. Still have the Silver and Green Psychos, Drakkon, the 2017 movie and Ninja Storm figures (but looking for the Hurricaneger Figuarts to replace those).
I have fond memories of this time period, even though the output was very questionable and erratic. I still remember the annoucnedmtb of TRU's closures happened at the same time the Green Ranger helmet and Zeo items started hitting shelves, so the company had to immediately liquidate that stock so I managed to get them for 10% off each. Not bad. It is genuinely tragic that we were close to a full Space Rangers/Psycho Rangers team, having to wait a few years later to do it again with Hasbro and later P-Bandai felt so cathartic to me.
The legacy megazords is what got me back into PR and relive my childhood. I collected just about everything legacy when it came out and am only missing a few things in the entire line, including a signed power sword, a signed fighting spirit set, and more. Looking at resale prices online makes me realize I'm sitting on a small goldmine.
On the topic of the Legacy Red Mighty Morphin helmet, that was one of the reasons I opted for the Legacy version of this helmet and not the Lightning Collection version. Unfortunately, not many of us were fortunate to be born with a normal sized skull (same goes for hats unfortunately and I love baseball caps so if you’re in the same boat as me you know my pain lol), so when I both heard the reviews of the Lightning Collection Red Ranger helmet and tried on one that a friend of mine had, I searched for the Legacy one right away lol.
I think what hurt me the most was Legacy Shogun never getting released. I missed out on the original aas a kid so I was not going to miss it now since I had adult money lol.
i'm glad i managed to acquire the base morpher, dragon dagger, and the ultrazord and white tiger zord. kinda bummed out that i missed out the thunderzord and the ninjazord, but oh well.
The 5" and 6.5" scales of the Bandai action figure lines are what really killed my interest in Power Ranger toys for a long while. While its sad how they are handling the rights at the moment, Hasbro's Lightning Collection and even their basic figures really impressed me. And further silver lining, while I can only say this as someone living in the US and this may be just coincidence, after selling the rights Bandai seems to have learned their lessons from Power Rangers and put more effort in bringing quality products to general retail store shelves: Dragon Ball Stars, Anime Heroes, Gundam Universe, niche products like SH Figuarts, and even model kits for the first time in years.
This is a good overview, I bought several of the Legacy items, mainly the megazords but ended up selling them in 2018 to cover rent in a tough time. It'd be nice if the ZAP Hasbro megazords were actually good, I kinda wonder if I'll ever realistically be able to snag any of these again

I like to think that in space and ninja storm are complete with the legacy figures, because I think Bandai was trying to go for the core team from the start of the season. It’s just that MMP got more treatment because of course it did.
I think the build a figure came from the dragon ball super dragon stars line as that actually did have a build a figure as well until they did away with it around wave 9 or 10 for that line

I wonder if we will be getting helmets in the 2025/2026 movie line. I’m scared of how big the final combined megazord toy is going to be, if they go the battlezord route.
I dont know much about the Legacy Line, I remember seeing them when they initally came out and would sell out really quick. one thing I dont understand is the treatment of Power rangers Zeo. I was under the assumption that Zeo was one of the more popular series back in the day. why Shy away from using the Zeo logos.
My Zap zord wishlist ( but will most likely will NEVER HAPPEN ) Zap Shogun Megazord Zap Tor the Shuttlezord Zap Turbo Megazord Zap Delta Megazord Zap Mega Winger Zap Mega Voyager
I will never forgive hasbro for what they did to this line. Bandai was in a groove and putting out banger after banger. Although I only care for the zords, I can see that the other stuff they released are also good. My dream of getting a modern turbo megazord (my favorite zord) was so close back then and definitely would happen if it weren't for hasbro's grubby hands. Now with the lost of the power rangers license, it's highly unlikely that even bandai japan would release a soul of chogokin version of the zords. F*CK HASBRO.
I'm probably in the super minority but I loved these figures. The joints were smooth to move but held their pose very well, I actually liked the sculpt ( I know that they were 'heroic' rather than 'average joe in spandex' but that's how Power Ranger toys always were when I was growing up along with the franchise), and the texturing on the Ninja Storm figures were great. I wish I still had my Blue Ninja Storm Ranger figure, she was my favorite. Also, the figures felt better in quality than what we got from Hasbro later. Sure, Hasbro brought in photoreal faces, multiple hands, and better accessories, but the figures themselves always felt gummy and I don't think I have Lightning collection figure that doesn't have a QC issue... And Zach's first face from Hasbro just makes me want to puke.
All though I think the Lightning Collection has much better looking "6 inch" figures and I prefer the scale of the Hasbro Helmets but anything else Bandai definitely did better. Great weapons and really good Megazords. Some issues here and there but overal very solid
Well at least it went longer than hasbro... right? I would like bandai jp to "continue on" the legacy line oh well I want to get some metallic and movie figures I did pick up psycho black , one of the last figs still being sold at bbts Honestly did not know of the larger scales figs could be bigger
It's a shame to hear that but it seems like the pandemic might've also played a part at least that's what I think. Did they ever make an official Master Morpher toy for Tommy or not?
Great retrospect man! Brought back some great memories of going to my TRU and finding all of these things on the shelf. My TRU STAYED stocked with the newest lastest! Seeing how much Alot of this stuff goes for now, I'm SOOOO Glad I got on board RIGHT at the beginning and kept on through the Very end!! I got a small fortune in storage, Lol Only thing I regret not getting(even when I had the chance) was the Red Ranger Power Sword. 😞😞 Had a chance when TRU was marking everything down for its inevitable closure...but didn't buy it... Bandai did right by us! We gave them crap at the end, but they did right by us!!
Bandai just did it right. I miss them making PR figures, the Legacy line was also amazing. I started just collecting the Japan Sentai figures now from them just cause I cant stand Hasbro at all.

Hey I see Toy Planet price stickers, you visit the Derby branch at all or Burton? Good places to get stuff, tend to get more collector/limited releases in.
Thank the lord we still have Smyth's too.
Derby one yeah! They had the wave 3 legacy figures before anyone else, it made me start the whole channel
@@powerrangertube Cool, I'm in there quite a bit. Might bump into you without knowing it xD
I wonder if we will be getting helmets in the 2025/2026 movie line. I’m scared of how big the final combined megazord toy is going to be, if they go the battlezord route.
What will happen?
It's Morphin Time! 🙂😎👍
My Zap zord wishlist ( but will most likely will NEVER HAPPEN )
Zap Shogun Megazord
Zap Tor the Shuttlezord
Zap Turbo Megazord
Zap Delta Megazord
Zap Mega Winger
Zap Mega Voyager
I will never forgive hasbro for what they did to this line. Bandai was in a groove and putting out banger after banger. Although I only care for the zords, I can see that the other stuff they released are also good. My dream of getting a modern turbo megazord (my favorite zord) was so close back then and definitely would happen if it weren't for hasbro's grubby hands. Now with the lost of the power rangers license, it's highly unlikely that even bandai japan would release a soul of chogokin version of the zords. F*CK HASBRO.
I’ve never understood the black and gold Zords…
Can you do a video on all the lighting collection villains released
All though I think the Lightning Collection has much better looking "6 inch" figures and I prefer the scale of the Hasbro Helmets but anything else Bandai definitely did better. Great weapons and really good Megazords. Some issues here and there but overal very solid
I wish we had gotten a Shogun Megazord. I wanna combine it with the falcon zord and give it the samurai turtle and shark zords.
It's so hard to find Power Rangers toys anywhere
I still have two legacy figures. Green Ranger and Zeo Gold Ranger
Well at least it went longer than hasbro... right?
I would like bandai jp to "continue on" the legacy line oh well
I want to get some metallic and movie figures
I did pick up psycho black , one of the last figs still being sold at bbts
Honestly did not know of the larger scales figs could be bigger
It's a shame to hear that but it seems like the pandemic might've also played a part at least that's what I think. Did they ever make an official Master Morpher toy for Tommy or not?
i really hoped they bring a shogun megazord legacy edition
Great retrospect man!
Brought back some great memories of going to my TRU and finding all of these things on the shelf. My TRU STAYED stocked with the newest lastest!
Seeing how much Alot of this stuff goes for now, I'm SOOOO Glad I got on board RIGHT at the beginning and kept on through the Very end!!
I got a small fortune in storage, Lol
Only thing I regret not getting(even when I had the chance) was the Red Ranger Power Sword. 😞😞
Had a chance when TRU was marking everything down for its inevitable closure...but didn't buy it...
Bandai did right by us! We gave them crap at the end, but they did right by us!!
Bandai could've done the Zeo megazord in 2017 instead of repaints of dino megazord and dragon zord
Bandai just did it right. I miss them making PR figures, the Legacy line was also amazing. I started just collecting the Japan Sentai figures now from them just cause I cant stand Hasbro at all.
I want more In Space merch. Yes MMPR is the OG but come on give us something else
32:43 - Tommy is drunk again, I see.
I have a crush on Ciara Hanna
You can't have a crush on someone you personally don't know 😅
@@Atlanticocean.chihuahua according to who?
@@AnhDonoi Realistically you can. But, in this fandom people like this are the reason Emma Lahana and others don't like to interact with their 'fanbase'. And on top of that what the fudge does Cierra Hanna even have to do with Bandai's Legacy line? Absolutely nothing.
.....
*blink.*
..... Hasbro.
It’s crazy looking back and realizing how much better the weapons and morphers are while also knowing we will never get this quality again 😩
As if hasbro does any better.
Man, that 2017 movie really did some damage to the merchandise plans.
Hasbro has been the worst era of Power Rangers. They actually killed the series.
I hope there's a phoenix like resurrection in it's future but right now, yes exactly this
And the toyline
